With the big changes in our home, I find myself in a nesting, decorating mood lately.....and I can't help myself!!! As much as I love to create new artwork and have ideas spinning in my head, the matter at hand is a spare room just waiting to be filled with something beautiful.
A wonderful lamp my husband bought me a few years ago....

So, in the mood I was in, I headed to the thrift store. I was originally looking for some simple metal bed rails for a twin bed but what to my wandering eyes should appear???? A beautiful armoire perfect for the empty spot in my studio!!!! And for what price you ask???
A mere 25.00!!! Ohmygoodness......what a blessing!!!! I have to do a little fixing up of the drawers but it'll be simple...
(The other piece will serve as a perfect piece in Noah's room as an entertainment center!)

BUT....the most incredible purchase of the day.....at the THRIFT STORE was this beautiful bed....queen in size...a carved, mahogany four poster bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And only 180.00 ~ yes....that's right. What a true blessing.....
I'm so, so thankful!!!! Now, to get our bedroom transitioned with this bed and move our old bed into the guest room.....

Dawn, that bed is gorgeous...i need something like that for my room...we have my hubby's grandparents bedroom set from when they were first married...the bed is gone...hubby's grandmother put it out on the lawn for reasons unknown...and of course someone snatched it right up...your lamp looks really beautiful!!!

Wow! I've been looking for an entertainment center and found one very similar to yours at my goodwill store a couple weeks ago. They wanted $150 for it and it needed all new hardware since the hinges were bent and falling off!!! No way was I paying that for it. Love, love, love the bed! I'm moving to another house in a couple weeks and I'm in thrift store shopping/decorating mode too. Thanks for the inspiration!

I can't even imagine how fabulous those pieces are going to look when you are done! Very exciting! I've been in a crafty decorating mode. After being at Michaels craft store this past weekend I've already got a list started and am planning to go back this weekend.

Have you thought about - when was the last time you bought something new? I was thinking of this the other day- I always choose something "recycled". I hardly ever buy new- it's more work- but more fun and a chance to make it your own. Congrats on your new finds- I love finding treasures. Joy

Wow Dawn, you really scored!! YAY! I love thrifting. I love to go to the Goodwill in McDonough near my mom's when I visit. That's a good one. Better for clothes and smalls, but I've found some great old books as well.

Dawn, I had to laugh when I read about your four-poster bed find. Last month I GAVE ours away (almost identical) to a friend. It was just too overpowering for our smallish bedroom in our older home. We are happily headboard-less at the mo, just looking for wonderful picture frames to paint white and arrange over the bed. Hugs, Cathy

I found a four poster bed in cherry wood at the curb in my neighborhood. Can you believe--at the curb?! I brought it home, gave it a good cleaning (it was curbside after all!) and added our box spring and mattress we had just bought a few months before and we have slept soundly in our "found" bed for many years now.
