Roses, ticking and toile!

I'm just so proud of these babies!!!
I finally finished all four of the composition notebook slipcovers
I've been working on!
The slip in the front, the red vintage roses one, is already sold...
but the other three have just been listed in my Etsy store ~

The wonderful thing is that these pretties can slip off one notebook
and slip right onto a new one!!!

I kind of underestimated how long it would take me to make four though ~
The rolled roses were the thing. They take time to make, as do the fabric leaves...

But I'm so pleased with the outcome!

I hope you're having a beautiful weekend dear friends!!!!

hugs and love,
Dawn

Still making stuff....I can't help myself ~

I really can't you know....
I'm making a few gifts for my precious students
who've been brave and purchased a seat in my class.
Out of twenty seats I sold twelve ~
and for my first teaching at Paper Cowgirls,
I am so honored to have had them choose my class!

This is just the project in the beginning stage but I had to show you something.
Do you recognize what I used on the binding???

Remember this stuff I found a Hob Lob in their Easter section?

It worked PERFECTLY as a binding on these journals....
I'm actually using my own altered composition notebook tutorial for these ~

I love turning something so completely ordinary into something special!!!!

Wishing you an amazing Tuesday dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

For the love of all things small......

I've discovered a little something.
I just LOVE tiny things!!!
I mean it.
I've found so many wonderful small goodies....and love them so.
Do you love them too?
I posed this little porcelain doll below to look like she's so very sad
to be naked!!!! and a sweet angel Lynn wanted to make her a dress....

Of course I love my little Ellie.
We ALL do....and she's still tiny and three years old next month!

I love making tiny things...
like fairy shoes ~

How could you not love doll shoes.....
Thank you dear Rose for these!

Have you ever seen how tiny a hummingbird nest is???
I so love this Rose....

Doll dresses are a fav....I can't resist them when I'm out junkin'

These girls aren't that small but still wanted to be in this post :)

Tiny bunnies from paperclay....

And look, a sweet little porcelain doll with a new dress!!!!
Can you believe Lynn made this dress without even seeing my sweet little doll???

A tiny fairy I've made back in the day ~

The ultimate tiny treasures ~ buttons!

Small shoes that have a new life.....

Small altered composition books that I've called "thought books"
perfect to jot an idea down and keep in your purse.

How could we not love small things....
they are precious and so near and dear to our heart!!!

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday sweet friends,

A new tutorial is ready at
The Little Speckled Egg store!!

I just love these notebooks. They truly are so fun to make. I should be making them ALL the time! The notebook below is the one featured in my tutorial.

Just visit The Little Speckled Egg blog if you're interested in purchasing these instructions. A list of materials you'll need is supplied plus I take step-by-step photographs and include typed instructions to guide you through this project. The images I've used on the various notebooks are either from Shabby Cottage Studio (Gail sells images that can be emailed!) or images that I've collected over time. I have not included images with the tutorial but have plenty of free images here on my blog that you are free to right click and save or visit The Graphics Fairy for more free images. Use pages from old, worn out books, old sheet music, scrapbooking papers and color copies from your own collection.
The possibilities are ENDLESS!!

(This beautiful little girl image can be found at Shabby Cottage Studio)

Here's a sampling of composition books I've made and sold in the past:

You can purchase the tiny composition books, which I love to call "thought" books, or the regular sized ones. They normally have a black and white speckled type cardboard cover and are really inexpensive.

After you alter and adorn them, they make such perfect gifts. You can change the theme to suit the taste or interests of the person you are giving it to!!

Thank you so very much for visiting me ~ your comments inspire and encourage me to be more creative and to share what I learn along the way.

Wishing you a wonderful Friday sweet friends!

#594 ~ More inspiration . . .

Well, I'm not quite finished with my tutorial but I thought that I would show you the finished product! It's an altered composition book featuring a beautiful image from Shabby Cottage Studio. I'm on Gail's design team and I have to say these are the most wonderful images to work with! They have the look that I love ~

Here's a few more of my clippings. First a wonderful page full of techniques on how to age your fabric. I know, usually you are trying NOT to let your fabric look old and faded by the sun but this is for those of us who love all things old and just can't seem to wait for the beautiful muted tones!

Nothing too special in the below photo except I want you to notice the layered curtains. They seem so very simple. Straight drapes to the floor with a bit of a puddle, no custom, fancy treatment here but don't you think they have the most luxurious look??

Another drapery photograph, simple but oh so luxurious to me in the way they are pulled back and tucked behind and slightly puddled on the floor as well. Billowing fabric always looks so beautiful . . .

I just have to say that I love my friends here in the Land of Blog. Such kindness, encouragement and friendship exists here and I can't tell you enough how happy I am just to be a little part of it!! Thank you so much for taking time to visit my blog and for always leaving me such sweet comments. Each and every one is treasured . . .

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday dear friends,
xxoo, Dawn

Found ~ good stuff & a new tutorial soon!

OK, I know you must be tired of me showing you baby shoes but
just. look. at. THESE!

Are these not the most precious things you've ever seen?? I found them at The Plum Tree and love them! Hmmm, I wonder if I could make a pair of earrings out of them???
Oh well, better not.

I know their scuffed, I know their cracked but I just don't care, they're so cute :)

Another wonderful find ~ an old receipt book.

The typefaces are beautiful to me ~

I've been working on my next tutorial for The Little Speckled Egg blog ~ it's an altered composition notebook! I hope to have it ready to post sometime tomorrow...

Plus, you're not going to believe this but this is about my 593rd post and I'm thinking a giveaway is in order for the 600th post!! I would love to know what would be a neat thing for me to give away this time, any ideas?

I'm hoping your Wednesday is a great one!!

xxoo, Dawn
