To embellish ~

: to heighten the attractiveness of by adding decorative or fanciful details.

Well, after seeing my sweet lavender sachets
sit in my Etsy shop for a few weeks,
that is EXACTLY what I did!!!
I embellished them even more!

I had to add a vintage watch face with pearl
to the very center...I love them!
AND
I added the last of some gorgeous lace I had
to the edges.

Take a peek in my shop if you are interested!!

Plus, I have to share the neatest thing ~
I've been cleaning up a bit for spring and hosed down our front porch,
cleaned out the planters, bleached the railings and
swept all the winter debris away.

Monday evening it was pristine and ready for some goodness.
Well, after lunch I finally went outside and this is what I find
on one of the small shelves at the end of our porch!
(That was CLEAN the evening before)

A precious bird's nest!!!!

Well, tonight I'm leaving out a plate of cut threads and lace from
beside my sewing machine ~ do you think the bird will use them??
I'll be sure to let you know!

Spring has definitely arrived here in Georgia this week!!!
Temps have been in the high seventies and
everything is SO GREEN!!!

Wishing you a beautiful April Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,Dawn

Using the good stuff...

I truly am trying my hardest to delve into my hoard
and actually USE
some of the wonderful, good things that
I've collected over the years!

A prime example.
This simple lavender sachet.
Featuring my most favorite toile fabric EVER....
beautiful, expensive net lace...
and accented by a wonderful, old pocketwatch face!
I've used a sweet, old pearl to fasten it to the sachet
and a vintage button on the back (not seen) to
help secure it into place.

Using the good stuff is always, always the best.
I can't take it with me, right???

I've added it to my Etsy shop too!

Wishing you a most beautiful weekend dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

For the love of drop cloths!

I do love them you know....
I wash them with fabric softener and then the fabric is this
amazing nubby, speckled goodness that's sturdy as all get out!

I just finished two more flea bags.
Created from, you guessed it...drop cloths!
With a little bit of antique lace, toile lining, watch faces and button ~
these sweeties are ready to FLEA!

And you know what would be wonderful??
Add a few more goodies to these bags!!!
Buy a vintage rhinestone pin...as a sweet reminder of a fun antiquing day!
Or maybe a cluster of old millinery?
These bags are blank canvases and would be great to adorn
with little treasures of your fun antique jaunts ~

See more here....

I guess I love creating with this fabric because it's so sturdy.
I have this wish that years and years after I'm gone from this earth,
that the things I've made will be those treasures that are lasting and that
others will find at flea markets and antique malls....
new treasures to them but that have stood the test of time!

Have a beautiful fall Friday dear friends!!!
I treasure each and every one of you ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

A little magic in a bottle ~

I've had this wonderful, old bottle for awhile now
(just like most of my stash, you know I love to keep stuff around me for a tiny bit!)
and finally decided to do something with it.
I found a neat old cabinet knob that would work perfectly for the top too ~

First, it was filled with neat old buttons, vintage pearls, lace and goodies.
Then I placed one simple word inside too ~

The word?
"Cherish"

This is the back ~
Plus for the first time, I soldered the knob on!
I've made soldered charms before so I used the same method
and layered the solder on and aged it.

I know everyone's made these, but it was really neat to be able to
attach the knob to the glass!

And you know I had to work in a watch face!

This bottle looks huge in these photos but it's a mere 4 1/2" tall!
I've just added the new little treasure to my Etsy store ~

I've been enthralled with angel wings lately...
aren't these gorgeous???
They can be found HERE!!!

Miss Minnie Louise is slowly but surely coming around.
The sweet girl has had a huge transition and it's just going to take a little time.
I've been treating her like a queen!

Sometimes when she gets a little playful,
she'll stop and remember she's supposed to be mad!
She sure loves her new mouse toy :)

Wishing you a wonderful Monday precious friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn

The sweet, simple things ~

Our last chicken has finally started laying eggs!
I've been waiting patiently as I knew they would be AMAZING!!!!
Just look at the color of her eggs.....
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A MORE BEAUTIFUL COLOR??!!
I've been seriously considering taking one to
Lowes or Home Depot to have it color matched for paint.
Am I crazy? The color is the softest, palest, blue green....

I love this tiny box. It was a gift and is filled with tiny treasures.....
Simple little things like this make me smile ~

What's so amazing is my sweet friend Gail
has the exact same box with tiny vintage cards inside....
for sale in her Etsy shop!!!

While I'm loading photos onto my computer, I look over and right beside me,
nestled in a basket in my studio, is my precious Thelma ~
cozy and happy, I had to smile.

Then she realizes she's been spotted!

Then she sneaks out to visit me for a minute!

Another thing making me smile today is that I finished my sachets!!
They are are all sold and I'm so very thankful....

Take time to notice the simple things...the small, sweet things ~
they will always make you smile!!!

Wishing you a great Friday my dear friends ~
hugs and love to you,
Dawn

Simple, fragrant treasures....

I love using pieces of gorgeous old lace on my projects ~
I love even more working with lavender buds!
The entire studio smells like Heaven right now.

I think I'm almost finished with these sweet sachets...
I may add a few buttons or other embellishments but they're
definitely in the home stretch!

Shouldn't you always add your lavender with an old silver scoop?

I kinda like them all piled up together :)

You have got to see these amazing nests my dear friend Sharon sent me!!!!
All the way from Maine...
Can you believe the detail?
How long did it take the sweet birds to complete each one?
Sharon found them in her yard getting ready for the hurricane last week.
The wasps nests were a bonus!!!
Thank you so very much sweet Sharon....I love it ALL!

Wouldn't my new nests look amazing inside these glass wall boxes I found at West Elm???
I think I need to put two of these babies on my wish list!

I love elegance and old lace...
I love rustic and natural.

I guess it's OK to love it all??

I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend dear friends and
wish you a beautiful week ahead!
Happy Tuesday angels,
hugs and love,
Dawn

It doesn't take much make this girl happy!!!

I had to find a few images for you....

Several quotes that I used in an art project you may love to print out and use as well!

I love these...rustic containers....just beautiful ~

And what makes me happy?
Wonderful old trinkets....aged somewhat, a little rust, a little patina, who cares ~
these little treasures arrived the other day and I had to share them with you!
I love using watch faces in my artwork and my supply was getting low until these arrived ~

If they don't look old enough, I make sure they do!
With ink...and a little distressing ~ don't you just love them all?

Two of the little wren babies have hatched!
These pics are still horrible but just look at the nest elements ~
can you believe all of the fibers, straw and other items this sweet mama used?
You can kinda see a little naked bird body in the nest :)

Mama bird must have been gathering some good food to bring back to these babies ~
I didn't see her at all when I snapped these photos.

A beautiful quote I love....
author unknown.

Have a beautiful Thursday sweet friends!!
hugs and love,
Dawn
