Watercolor painting and sprucing up a bit!

Where do I begin?
It's been WAAAAY too long since my last post for sure!

Things have been pretty good around here.
I sold my very first watercolor paintings!
I've been painting more and getting some packaged
to sell in our local antique store.
Hopefully I will get a few listed in my Etsy store too!
Here's a sampling of what I've been working on:

The peonies below are what I recently sold!
They were huge!!! 18" x 24"
They were a bit rippled when I finished with them
but was able to get them flattened out nicely.

And here they are matted and framed in my client's home!

I've even painted some teeny watercolors to fit into these sweet little frames!

We've been working on planting a small garden,
potting pretty plants and best of all?
Bringing our old, in-ground pool back to life!

We moved here last year and let the old pool remain covered,
especially for safety's sake.
You could hear the frog's croaking at night
as they basically called it home!

It's now been pumped out, cleaned up and we are waiting
on the new liner to arrive and be installed.
We've never had a pool in our entire lives so
there will be a learning curve. Wish us luck!!!

We gave the retaining wall behind the pool
a bit of a face lift!
The cap blocks on top were old and crumbling away.
Well, we purchased some decorative pavers
that looked good with the wall and my sweet dad
chipped all the old off and added the pavers!
It's a simple change but sure makes a huge difference.

The photo below is before the pavers and before pressure washing the concrete!
You can barely see it but the wall was crumbling on top.

Here are the simple pavers. They were only 25 cents each!!!
You can see our teeny garden too.

Spring is all about beautiful, new plants!

I so hope you are enjoying your spring!
It will be scorching hot here in middle Georgia in just a few weeks
and I won't be able to tolerate it.
If you're looking for me,
I'll be indoors or in the pool!!!

Hugs and love always,
Dawn

What a GREAT way to start the New Year!!!

I've got to share something SO special with you!

I was contacted by a company a few weeks back to see if
I would write a sponsored post about their products.
Well, I checked out their website and LOVED IT!!
Next, I checked out their reviews and they were WONDERFUL!
SOOO...of course I agreed!

The website is Photowall.com.
Their products include wallpaper, murals,
canvas prints, framed prints and posters!

The neat thing is...you can browse through their huge selection
of photos and images
OR you can upload your own image
to create any of their items.

As you all know, I adore beautiful images and
ended up ordering a GORGEOUS
wall mural for one wall of my new studio!!!
(Well, when we find the right house that is...)

This is it below!
It's called Cool Summer in the Woods.
I had several others picked out as well,
but ultimately chose this one.
Don't you just love it??

Here's another photo of more of the design.
Now, you know I'm not into modern furniture but
I still felt like the image would look beautiful with
antiques and older furniture as well!

There were a few other images that I loved as well.
Of course they are all botanically inspired!
This Floral Cream was beautiful and
this is what it would look like as a canvas...

This pattern is called Hydrangea in the Vintage section!

This one is so dreamy!
It is called October Morning:

Look at this gorgeous peony image!!!

A mural would be perfect in a baby's nursery or child's room!

How about something precious for a little girl's room?

Or for a little boy's room?

Or what about a cool antique map mural in a library room?

The possibilities are absolutely endless!

So now you can see why fell in love with this website!
The company is in Sweden and the shipping is ULTRA fast!
I was amazed how quickly my mural arrived.

The wonderful thing too?
Photowall is offering each and every one of my readers

25% OFF your purchase for one month!!!

Just type in
thefeatherednest25
into the coupon code area when checking out!

CLICK HERE to take a look around!!
You're gonna love it!

Now, if we can find our new home with my new studio,
I'll share what it looks like finished!!!

Wishing you all such a wonderful and very Happy New Year!!!

Hugs and love,
Dawn

Autumn is finally here and my heart is happy!

Fall has always, always is my very favorite time of the year.
I have so many precious memories from this sweet season.
Starting college, meeting precious life-long friends, dating my husband....
I always have loved the cooler weather too, Georgia summers can be brutal and so humid!

Right now it's raining cats and dogs outside and will probably make many
leaves fall that I still want to see turn.
It's okay though.
Rain is a precious gift and I'm thankful!

This has been a very rough year for all of us.
I've missed my family so terribly.
And then staying home...day after day...can mess with your head!
I've always been a homebody but at least I had a choice to go out.
We are simply trying to be wise in our household as we are all
physically compromised here.

I'm not sure what our holidays will hold at this point
but I do know this.
I love my precious family dearly.
Even if we have our celebrations separately,
we all love one another so much!
This too shall pass.

I'm having a small sale in my Etsy store if you're feeling creative!
It's mostly tutorials that you all know I sell plus
a few handmade items as well.

Here are a few of my artist pieces! You know how I loved dried elements!

I'm sorry for the sparseness of my posts.
Seems my heart just hasn't been in it.
With a studio full of supplies even.
Praying for better times for us all!!!!

Thank you all for continuing to visit my ol' blog.

Hugs and love!!!

A few artful goodies have been added to my shop!

Well, here it is, almost the end of August!
How did THAT happen?
I'm thankful though. This has been a rough year for all of us.
I've had a hard time, as I'm sure many of you have as well
dealing with all the stuff that's going on.
I'm just praying for each day to get better and better.

On a positive note,
I've actually been making a few things!

I know I shared my needle felted bunny in my last post but
my son gave me this adorable metal nest!
I filled it with straw and made him a cozy spot
to hang out in the studio.
I love it!!!

My dried flowers and nature finds have been calling my name.
So...I decided to create a new nest assemblage! Fancy that!
I used some amazing antique ledger paper that I believe is from 1865
to line this wonderful old box.

The nest was found in my front door wreath and was
the perfect centerpiece for the artwork!
Mossy sticks and gathered nature pieces were added to complete it.
I also embellished the nest with feathers and speckled eggs.
All of the items have been securely glued in so they can't shift too!

This assemblage is currently in my Etsy store, just click below to visit sweet friends ~

Also, I found these wonderful glass tubes that I'm filling with gorgeous dried botanicals!
They are different sizes and so much fun to make.
I love going through my drieds deciding which pieces to add to each tube.
I plan on making more but a few are listed in my Etsy store if you like to take a look!

Some of these pieces have sold but there are still a few in my store!!

Thank you always, always for stopping by dear friends.
Praying that you are doing wonderfully and are well!

Hugs and love,
Dawn
