Rusty, raggedy and worn...just what I love!

How wonderful is this photograph....
A mother with her sweet baby ~
For you...

Precious children ~ for you as well...
(the little baby looks really surprised!)

Here are a few more treasures
that we discovered this past weekend ~
Why am I drawn to these photos of strangers?
Their faces...the beautiful shades of sepia ~
I love tiny leather pouches and
have used them in my artwork before.
And of course, you know one can NEVER have enough buttons....

Raggedy old books...
one is even a French text book from college!

A year book from an all girls school ~
The cover is what sold me....

And I discovered that I'm in love with Ace Hardware.
I found this wonderful wire that I'm going to use to make hangers
for these cool glass containers.

This one even had a little rust!!!

I've been working on another load to take to the antique space Friday.
We're slowly getting things together and
we don't actually pay rent until March 1st ~
and we've already almost sold enough to pay it!!

And I just have to show you this!
Tammy from Rock River Stitches bought my fairy in a jar tutorial
and placed a photo of her little grandbaby's face over the fairy's!
I just love her Tammy!!

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday sweet friends,
hugs and love,

For the love of buttons ~

I played with my buttons this evening ~ sorting them by colors. Why do I love them so?? Even the most simple design is like a little valuable bauble to me. This is a big jar of vanilla buttons and a few other cream and white treasures. I couldn't stop taking photos of it. I need help.

Plus I've filled a few orders this evening for my fairy jars! I still need to add the excelsior inside and tie the poem around the top. Don't forget that I have a tutorial store selling the instructions for this project and it also includes the images!

One more funny image for you. My sweet sea angel arrived here yesterday from Denmark. This was her mode of transportation!! Ahhh, the wonderful postal service . . . I'm just thankful she was fine!

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday ~

Some favorite things ~

As I took Ellie out before bedtime, this is the beautiful sky I saw. It was even a little cooler ~ the moon was so trying to peek out of the spotty clouds.

The more I work on the yard sale and go through items, I tend to take the smaller items that I know I want to keep to my artroom. Well, by day's end, it had gotten pretty rough looking. I starting straightening a bit and as I finished I started putting a few small items into a grouping that are so sweet to me . . .

A pair of the most precious handmade baby booties ~

A small barkcloth lavender sachet I made ~

A most precious Christmas card that doesn't look Christmasy at all to me but I love the colors ~

A piece of tattered ruffle from what I'm not sure of but it is so old, sheer and soft ~ it's wonderful

A neat old spool with the original cotton twill tape on it with vintage millinery daisies poking out

Tiny little flowers wrapped in old lace ~

Two velveteen bunnies that I love even when it's not Easter

Always, cream and white buttons, sprinkled on a tattered, very well-loved New Testament ~

Seeing beautiful things = beautiful thoughts and

beautiful thoughts = a beautiful you

Happy Thursday dear friends,

Little visual treats are constant inspiration ~

A tiny little peek at what I'm working on . . .

Do you display the things you love? Those items you have safely tucked away? Pull them out, pour them in a beautiful bowl, place them under a glass cloche, mound them in a beautiful open box so your eyes will fall on them every day.
If it makes you smile, if it takes your breath, if you look for them everytime you go treasure hunting....display them so you can soak up that goodness each and every day ~

Sweet friendship, a button bottle & a trip!

Isn't this the sweetest image? I picked it up a few weeks back at Scott's Antique Market and the date on the back says 1900! I scanned it in for you ~ just click to enlarge then right click to get the list of options to save to your computer then left click again on "save to computer" or "save image as" and then you can rename it
and file it away ~ Don't they look like they're friends?

I'm working on several projects that I can't share with you right now and it makes me crazy! But I have to press on and know that I can share them with you later . . .

I did manage to squeak out a wonderful button bottle tonight with a pretty French label that I applied. This is from the French images book a few posts back. I aged it a bit with my brushed corduroy distressed ink pad and a soft cloth. I've added a snippet of lace and sparkle with a piece of an old earring.
Lastly I filled it with pretty vanilla and pearl buttons ~

I'm sure this old bottle thought it's purpose and use was over. Little did it know it would eventually be so gussied up!!

And the trip is to . . . Savannah!! We are leaving this evening to visit our two oldest sons, Brent and David and Brent's girlfriend, Emily. All of us are going too! Dennis and I, Brad, Chase and Noah . . . and of course Ellie!!! We are so looking forward to seeing them all and having all of our family together. I'll still blog too, because they all know I love it!!

Feel free to use the images below as well. I took them last year at Bonaventure Cemetery ~

Wishing you a wonderful Friday ~ xxoo, Dawn
