One last angel for now...

I just finished my last angel for now ~
it's time to move on to something different.
What that will be, I don't quite know!
But I wanted to share this sweet girl with you...
she is already sold but still wanted you to see her.

I've used another baby/doll dress ~
I'm not sure which it was, I think doll though.
Gorgeous old millinery flowers adorn her waist
and of course seam binding!

A fragment of an old rhinestone earring for a necklace pendant.

The wings as I embellished them...

And you're just not going to believe this...
Our little Murray turned 11 months old yesterday!!!
He's such a sweet boy...he's getting around so good, dragging himself all over the place,
sitting up and he's starting to pull up as well.
He'll even raise up on his hands and feet like he's doing push ups!

I hope you have a great Tuesday dear friends!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

There are angels among us...

I just love beautiful angel images...
and love, LOVE creating angel themed artwork.

I know they watch over us and are most likely
our loved ones who have passed on before us ~

I finally finished my tattered angel!
She was primed, painted and the stand was antiqued.
The small dress form stands 16" tall and
is adorned with several old treasures...
An old doll dress has been shaped to fit her ~
and another little doll dress serves as her petticoat.

Vintage millinery and seam binding were used to cinch her waist
and antique lace was used as a camisole.
Even a new-made-to-look-old rhinestone charm adorns her neck...

She is already sold but I just had to share her with you!!!

Thank you always for stopping by to see me ~
Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday sweet friends!!

hugs and love,
Dawn

A tattered angel in progress!

I haven't finished her but couldn't stand it...I just had to share!
I found a small dress form at the store the other day
and knew it would be wonderful altered.

A few years ago I altered a paper mache dress form
that was really quite large and transformed it into
I used old lace, feather wings, rhinestones, etc.

That's exactly what popped into my mind
the minute I saw this smaller form!

So rather than wait, I thought I would share my steps and progress!

Here she is...about 14 or 15 inches tall....
there were some designs printed on the fabric
but I didn't care for those ~

I've had these sweet angel wings for a while,
probably since last Christmas...
I found them at Hobby Lobby which
they probably have them again as they
are all stocked up for artists and crafters
to create their goodies for the fall
and Christmas shows.

Next, I pulled out the gesso and gave her a good coating....
just so I could paint her a pretty shade of off white ~

The gesso dried quickly and I couldn't even wait to paint her,
I had to play a little bit!!!!

Since this piece will be totally different than my first tattered angel,
I thought I would pull out all of my collected doll dresses
and see if I had one that would work for her....

I found the PERFECT little dress!! Plus I found a slip that I will use as as well ~
This is just pinned in place to give you an idea...
I still have to paint her a beautiful linen color,
antique the stand and begin layering pretty components
that will add to her charm!

Stay tuned dear friends!!!

Wishing you a wonderful Monday,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Loving the texture...

I'm such a nut.
I admit it!
I had to run to Hobby Lobby and Michael's the other day
to pick up a few supplies and of course to spend my birthday gift card...

Well, I bought about 4 yards of muslin.
I love prewashing it before I use it
so I threw the long cut
of fabric right into the washer.
After it was finished, I pulled it out
and it had wrung itself into one long twisted piece!
No, I don't have one of those fancy front loading washers ~

ANYWAY,
I began to untwist it, but as I did,
I thought it was so beautiful!!!
I tossed it into the dryer and dried it that way...
If I need it straightened out I'll press it but
I've got to think of a way to use it this way too!!!

I'm restocked on lavender buds now too!!!
Now I can make a few more sachets with the beautiful graphics :)

Here's some sweet finds from Michael's...
See the paper in the back?
It's a Tim Holtz pad and it was on clearance for 7.99!!!

Those tiny boxes are small playing cards!
I thought they were cute and four boxes came in the package,
I've already given Noah one :)
The journal was five bucks and
I loved those aged metal eye screws for artwork.

And believe it or not, this tinsel trim was
in with all of their new spring stuff!!
I just had to get it...the roll alone was so beautiful
but I'm sure it will come in handy next Christmas.

Love these...they look so pretty on the sachets!

Love to use these on artwork...I've got to get busy and make something new!

Here are a few pics of the Tim Holtz papers ~

I recently made these angel wings for a special order...

And guess what???
The new issue of Mollie Makes is now available in the UK
with my little page featuring my studio!

My sweet friend Leigh, who writes for them, sent me a pic of the page in the mag...
it won't hit the newsstands here for a few more weeks or so.

Goodness, the studio looks like a wreck in these pics...
but they chose from large selection of photographs!

So....if you're new here from the magazine,
WELCOME!!!
I'm so very glad you dropped by and I hope you enjoy your visit!!!

Wishing you a beautiful Friday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

WHOA! Looks like a tornado went through the studio!

I mean it!!!
I had to finally stop today and start gathering the debris and
putting each and every item back where it belongs!

My sweet sister-in-law placed a wonderful order with me and I had stuff
slung all over the studio!!!
I took a few photos of my finished projects if you want to take a look:

Several of these bottle brush trees, adorned and captured in jars...

Here they all are....I so hope the recipients love them!!!

Have you ever used one of these clear plastic "paint" cans for gifts?
I packaged each of the three ornaments in a clear cello bag, then used Christmas gift wrap
to make a fold over topper and stapled it on. I placed all three ornaments around the outside
and filled the center with wonderful, clear shred!

I added a bit of gift wrap to the top and of course had to add seam binding bundles to each side!

I even managed to make a few extra bottle brush tree jars to sell in my Etsy shop!
This one's already sold but you know I had to show you...
I just love this amazing shade of blue, don't you?

This sweet one is left...placed in my Etsy too ~

Now just to finish a few little snowman ornaments and then I think this little workshop
will be done for the season....and I'll be back to creating everyday new goodies.

Thank you always, always for stopping by to see what I'm up to!!!
You always inspire me and I love sharing with you ~

Wishing you a wonderful Friday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn
