The thought for the day ~

I ran across a wonderful status update
by a sweet friend Jeanne Oliver on FB last night
and thought it would be the perfect
"thought for the day"...

"If there is one thing I have learned in my life so far is that negativity breeds negativity.
Surround yourself with others that exude light, love, kindness, forgiveness,
grace and a gentle tongue.
After people leave your presence how do they feel?
Do they feel uplifted and encouraged?
Do they see their day in a different light?
I know we all can stumble with this but what a goal to reach for."

This truly is always my goal ~

My first little creations to be published in a magazine,
I just couldn't believe it ~

I always pray that I will leave others feeling better...
encouraged...
and always, always uplifted.

Just a beautiful thought for the day that I knew you would love ~

Happy Tuesday angels,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Rusty, raggedy and worn...just what I love!

How wonderful is this photograph....
A mother with her sweet baby ~
For you...

Precious children ~ for you as well...
(the little baby looks really surprised!)

Here are a few more treasures
that we discovered this past weekend ~
Why am I drawn to these photos of strangers?
Their faces...the beautiful shades of sepia ~
I love tiny leather pouches and
have used them in my artwork before.
And of course, you know one can NEVER have enough buttons....

Raggedy old books...
one is even a French text book from college!

A year book from an all girls school ~
The cover is what sold me....

And I discovered that I'm in love with Ace Hardware.
I found this wonderful wire that I'm going to use to make hangers
for these cool glass containers.

This one even had a little rust!!!

I've been working on another load to take to the antique space Friday.
We're slowly getting things together and
we don't actually pay rent until March 1st ~
and we've already almost sold enough to pay it!!

And I just have to show you this!
Tammy from Rock River Stitches bought my fairy in a jar tutorial
and placed a photo of her little grandbaby's face over the fairy's!
I just love her Tammy!!

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Dreaming of pocket watches and fairies ~

I have been wanting some pocket watch cases FOREVER!!!
I found this precious set of three on ebay and had to buy them.....and they still have their glass fronts too!!! I want to make a few mini assemblages in them ~ but one seems destined to stay with me, can you guess which one??

Just look at the beautiful bird engraving on the back ~ eeeeek! I'm in love ~

I feel like I've been away from my creative self for some time now, caring for little Noah and also not feeling well but I'm getting so excited about creating again ~ and I actually finished a special order! I don't usually take orders as I'm one of those artists that love creating what I'm in the mood to create, but Vicki is a former customer and wanted her sisters turned into fairies!! I'm so pleased with how they turned out.

I've created an instructional tutorial for this project
that's for sale on my Lessons from The Nest blog ~
who could you turn into a fairy??

Making things makes me smile :)

Happy Thursday dear friends ~

My heart is filled with love ~

I made these two precious jar fairies today thinking all the while of our new little grandbaby and whether the sweet angel is a boy or a girl . . . I would smile as I looked at each one of these wonderful children's photographs.

Emily and Brent go this morning to have the sonogram and hopefully they will be able to tell!! I promise to let you know as soon as I find out ~ it doesn't matter at all, but it sure will be fun knowing! Plus they'll only have to pick one name which is bound to make things a little easier ~

I offer these two fairies to you, my sweet blog friends first. They are 18.00 each with 6.00 shipping in the continental US. Just email me at: sewmanyroses@yahoo.com if you're interested. I'll put them in my Etsy store later in the day ~

May all your fairy wishes and dreams come true!!
Happy Thursday dear friends ~

Happy Monday dear friends ~

I love beautiful old children's illustrations. I can't get enough of them . . . I love the old one's best and have found more and more artists that I adore their work. These are by Mabel Lucie Attwell ~ the roundness of their faces, the colors that were used ~ her work is just amazing. Now if I could only find an old book chock full of her illustrations!! And should you ever run across a copy of The Water-Babies, would you grab it for me??!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The birthday party Saturday for my MIL was so much fun and I think she really liked herself as a fairy!!! (I used a photo of her when she was a young girl to transform her into the fairy)

I'm so very excited!!! I've enlisted the talents of a wonderful artist to create a NEW banner for my blog! I can't wait to see what she comes up with . . . Our boys are out of school this week, fall break they call it ~ that's why we go back to school the first of August, every six weeks they get a week off. And believe me the kids are ready and the teachers are really ready when six weeks rolls around!! It's really wonderful ~

I hope your week is great, remember squeeze in a little time to do what you love and do what makes you smile ~ wishing you a wonderful Monday,

xxoo, Dawn

A birthday gift for a very special person ~

Is it OK that I've turned my sweet mother-in-law into a fairy??!! We're going to her birthday party Saturday and I wanted to give her something different from us, something a little out-of-the-ordinary....I'm thinking this qualifies!

I hope you have a great Saturday!!

xxoo, Dawn

ps. Thank you all so much for making my first One Day Sell at The Little Speckled Egg a smashing success!!! I'll keep the Buy It Now button up for all tutorials only 10.00 for purchasing until Saturday morning ~ Thank you!!
