A beautiful shower for precious Baby Owen!

This sweet baby shower was MONTHS in the making!

Planning, making lists, creating special touches...
and then, just a week or so ago,
we finally had the baby shower to welcome our
precious new grandson, Owen!

Our second to oldest son David and the love of his life Heather
are expecting little Owen any day now too!

I just had to share a few (A BUNCH!) photos from the shower ~
It was held in our son Brad's and his partner Davey's unbelievable home...
it will take your breath away!!!
Davey is an interior designer by trade, and it SHOWS!!!

The incredible baby cake that my sister-in-law Julie made!!!
She SO outdid herself this time!!!

The topper was created using a pretty pottery cradle that our son Brad purchased.
A dear friend Tammy did the gorgeous floral arrangement inside.

Below is a basket of favors for the guests.
There were over 50 people invited so we chose
an open house format.
Guests arriving from 2 pm until 5 pm, presenting their gift,
visiting, enjoying refreshments and leaving when they needed to.
It worked out wonderfully!!!

Below is our beautiful spread of food!!
So many helped me with this!
Our oldest son Brent, his wife Emily...Heather's mom Dianne...
her stepmom Sylvia...Davey and Brad...Julie, it truly took a village
but came together beautifully!!!!

I actually went to Brad and Davey's house Saturday evening
before the shower on Sunday afternoon.
THIS was my room for the night!!!!
I felt like a princess!

The dining room before the shower.

The gorgeous foyer looking into the living room:

Side table during the shower:

Our sweet guest of honor and mommy-to-be Heather!!!

The shower in progress!
Yes, they even built a wonderful fire!
It was a cold, rainy afternoon but not inside ~

My dear sister-in-law Julie with her beautiful cake!!!

Corsages I made for Heather and David ~

Tags for the favor bags!
I made these to cinch up five Hershey kisses in a white tulle circle.
Tied up with a pretty bow.
Of course I had to use my favorite...seam binding!

Something so sweet...
David's precious little newborn outfit that he wore home from the hospital.
I gave it to Heather for Owen to wear!

I love you both so very much and can't
wait to meet precious Owen!

I hope you've enjoyed my baby shower post ~
I know it's tons of photos but I just couldn't leave anything out!
So now we wait...he's due any day now!

I hope you're staying cozy and warm this December.
Thank you always for stopping by to see me!

hugs and love,
Dawn

Simple ideas make beautiful gifts!

I shared this post a few years ago and when I took a look at it again
I thought it would be such a wonderful thing to create for wedding favors!!!
Or you could make these gift cones for baby shower favors as well ~
and since it's Spring...wouldn't these be wonderful to make
as Easter favors filled with goodies for your guests????
Here's my old post....it was from around Christmas, so keep that in mind!!

*  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *

Well, not everything turns out to be a great idea...
this raggedy garland might look OK if it were about five times more full and fluffy....
the spray glue kind of matted it up a bit too ~
I guess you can't glitter EVERYTHING!

BUT....now I've decided to try this....please tell me what you think ~ will it look like a bride if I use ivory tulle as garland?? I love the ethereal look of it and I'm thinking it will be just what I need ~
now I need a Michael's coupon!

Here's a mini-tutorial....kind of a mini version of what I sell in my Etsy shop ~

A Victorian Cone Ornament

Supplies needed to complete this project:
• Embossed, paintable wallpaper (from Lowes or Home Depot)
• Fabri-Tac glue, it bonds quickly (Wal-mart carries this)
• Elmer's Spray Adhesive (Wal-mart)
• Brown acrylic paint or antiquing solution (Folk-Art brand is at Michael's or Hobby Lobby)
• Paint brush
• Scissors, hole punch
• Clear glitter, Martha Stewart Ultra Fine and Diamond Dust (Michael's, use a coupon)
• Ribbon or seam binding, a couple of buttons and a vintage earring that matches
Pattern or template printed out from this post....look at the bottom paragraph for the link:
http://www.brendawalton.com/blog/2007/02/sweet_treats.html

Place pieces good side down in an old box and spray back sides with spray glue. Press together to form a bond. Now both sides are pretty! Punch holes as on the template.

Another beautiful Christmas goodie for our tree!!!
I won't leave the lace and seam binding inside but you get the idea ~
how about a bag of candy wrapped in the tulle and stuffed inside
with a little puff coming out the top??

If you don't have some of these supplies,
use what you do have. Scrapbooking paper, newspaper, old sheet music...
even wrapping paper, you can sandwich a piece of cardstock
in between the layers to stabilize the paper better.
I love creating things with what I have on hand!

And last but certainly not least, the wonderful winner of the Food Network Magazine
and the little snowguy ~ Pea of Pea Picker's Primitives ~
thank you all so much for entering!

The sweet snowman ornament is NOW a tutorial you can purchase
in my Etsy shop!!!

Wishing you all a great Friday dear friends!
xxoo, Dawn

Always seeking beauty ~

With blogs, Pinterest, Facebook and so many other internet venues
you can find tons of wonderful websites, blogs and shops
that are filled with beautiful things that you love!!!

I have to share a recent find with you
because I know you will love Gerda too ~
Her blog name is idemakeriet and I have so enjoyed
going through her posts...seeing her gorgeous photographs
and wonderful creations.
If you have a bit of time, be sure to take a look...
you will love her too!!

And the baby shower was just WONDERFUL!!!
My sweet Mother-in-law made homemade chicken salad sandwiches...
and my dear niece Adrian made the most delicious chocolate-covered
strawberries and strawberries with marshmallow cream cheese dip!
Emily was beautiful and such a sweetheart ~
here are a few photos I wanted to share with you....

Below are just the beginnings of the gifts arriving...

Spinach dip and crackers ~

My simple cupcakes!

Adrian's strawberries and my fruit tea...

Precious big sister Clara...looking all grown up to me!!

Yummy chicken salad croissants ~

Aren't the strawberries beautiful???

Clara was so very proud of her doll blanket I made her!
I love my sweet cousin Beth smiling in the background...

Plus I had to give her a little doll cradle, just so she could play "mommy" too ~

Emily opened so many sweet gifts and believe me,
little Murray has a entire wardrobe waiting on him now!!!!

And you have got to look at these precious things!!
My cousin Beth saw the idea on Pinterest and DID IT!
These are receiving blankets all coiled up
with a onesie nestled in the center and pulled up a bit.
Then you put a coffee filter on the bottom,
tie with ribbon and they look like cupcakes!!!
Too sweet...

We all had such a great time and now...we WAIT!!
Our little baby Murray is due September 9th ~

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit...
I hope you have a WONDERFUL week precious friends.

hugs and love,
Dawn
