Old linens and ticking ~

Some things just look beautiful together, don't they?
I've had these fabrics and linens laying together for quite a while now...
just waiting for me to do something with them.

I knew that I didn't want to cut the linens up though.
They have a few light stains but I'm a weirdo and love that about them.
It shows their age and gives them character.

So what I decided to do was make small pillows
that would fit inside the pretty linen pieces!
I also wanted them to have a lavender sachet inserted inside
so I made a pouch of about 1 1/2 cups of fresh lavender buds
and inserted it right into the center of the small pillow.
They are loosely filled the rest of the way with soft poly fil
and then sewn closed.
And I guess you know I had to had a little seam binding too!

They've both been listed in my Etsy store if you'd like to take a look ~

I just can't believe school starts here tomorrow!!!
Noah will be a junior in high school and little Clara is starting kindergarten.
Time just flies by, doesn't it???
Our schools start early because every six weeks they get a whole week off
and two weeks at Christmas. It really works out great for the students and teachers!

Now if I can just get up early...ugh.
Happy Monday in advance precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Making pretty things...

I just never get tired of it!!!
I'm fortunate in the fact that I have the time to make
these little treasures...

First a sweet image for you ~

To save the LARGEST size of my images:

Right click on the image.
Left click "OPEN LINK IN NEW WINDOW"
Then....Left click the image AGAIN.....
you will now have the FULL SIZED IMAGE.
Now you can right click it to "save image as"
and save it to your own computer.

I have a special order of two lavender sachets that have the same
"feel" as my recent cream/white needle books ~
PLUS my customer wanted to be able to replace the lavender buds inside
once they lose their fragrance.
SO, this is what I came up with!

It's a bit of a pouch....
with ties at the top.
Same layered linens and lace ~

My lavender insert is created from a loose weave scrim ~
that will let that wonderful fragrance out!

A few goodies I used ~

See how I left the top open and added a couple of seam binding ties?

And then I inserted the scrim lavender pouch ~

Then I embellished it with a scrunchy seam binding bow, a few antique buttons and voila!

I just love this tiny old bread tin...I keep pretty buttons inside.

And now I'm ready to start the other sachet to complete her order!

I did cut out a few extras I hope to add to my Etsy shop in a few days too :)

I hope you've been having a wonderful week...
sometimes it's hard to squeeze a little creativity into our schedules,
but it's always so rewarding when we do!!!

Wishing you a GREAT Thursday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Timeless beauty ~

What is timeless beauty to you?
It's what you love....year after year after year.

I began pulling out a few treasures today and fell in love all over again!
I'm going to make a few lavender sachets and needed
to gather the components together ~
and it doesn't matter how long I've had them,
when these beautiful laces, linens, quilts and ribbons are
all piled up together...my heart simply swoons.

I had to take a few photos to share with you,
because I know if you're here,
you love them too!!!

Here's the beautiful, old tattered quilt that I use as a base
for my needle keeps and now sachets.
Don't worry, it has several bad spots
and is now being used again...just for a different purpose.

I even have a few scraps from other old quilts that I just adore...
they will make beautiful needle books or sachets too, don't you think?

I also pulled out a few old Victoria magazines...
talk about timeless beauty!!!!
Can you believe this is one from 1997???
Just look at a little of what's inside ~

Beautiful, right??? I need to pull out more, I have quite the stash....
These old issues always, ALWAYS inspire me.

And just a few more pics of my sweet linens and lace for you ~

I can't help myself.
I love all that is old and beautiful....
and just having these treasures around is absolutely inspiring!!!

Have a beautiful Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Such a fast year!

Can you believe we've been here at the farmhouse for a year??
What a fast year! Of course, they all seem to be fast to me now....

It's taken me quite awhile to get this house just the way I had envisioned it
but that's OK....I'm finally getting around to things :)

I've still been working on straightening up my studio and have to share a few more pics...
I hope you don't mind seeing more ~
I'm just so proud to see the floor I could scream!
I finally hung this sweet shelf over my sewing machine and
added more trinkets and treasures.
I love seeing beautiful things in the studio,
these little treasures inspire me and of course make me smile :)

I finally hung my bird canvas too!

Do you see it?
THE FLOOR!

I also finally hung a beautiful old bird poster too ~

Just more pretty stuff to look at...

Treasures from friends and treasures found ~

While moving things around I've discovered stuff I even forgot I had!
Beautiful linens that will work perfectly in the new guest room.

I even hung a few more things in the living room too!
I bet you thought I couldn't fit one more thing on these walls either :)
Sorry about the lighting...as you can see it was pretty late!

We found this wonderful print of Carnegie Hall back when we had our antique space and
it was just one of those cool things we couldn't let go of ~
and what's more perfect that Deneen's gorgeous ticket sign hanging above it??!!

So a little more progress was made!!
But I have a feeling I'm going to be needing some ibuprofen soon...

OH!
And guess what I discovered about the photos on our blogs (blogger),
you can click one photo and a new page pops up with that photo featured.
Below the large photo is a film strip with all of the other photos from that post too.
Well, there is a tiny little clickable sentence that includes a blog address.
Click it (maybe twice) and THEN the featured pic will enlarge to it's full size!!!
I love enlarging everyone's photos to see each and every detail ~

I'm still going to continue adding to my Flickr too.

Thanks so much for checking in on me sweet friends!!
Have a beautiful Wednesday,
hugs and love,
Dawn
