A few little pretties!

I've managed to finish several projects I've had waiting around here!
My sweet daughter-in-law requested one of my lace buntings so
I thought I would go ahead a make several to list in my shop as well!

These are created from wonderful, old pieces of lace and strung together
on a long piece of seam binding. I add pretty seam binding bundles on each end
plus add several vintage buttons on each flag!
Each one is different but that's how I love things to be.

I'm working on one last treasure organizer too!
I'll be sure to share photos soon ~

These have all be listed in my Etsy store if you'd like to take a peek!

Wouldn't it be pretty to hang two together, staggered???
I should have tried that!

So our short summer (time off from school) will soon be coming to an end
and Noah will begin his SENIOR YEAR!!!
Can you even believe this?
I know many of you have read my blog for awhile and watched
our youngest son grow up. And that he has!!
He's almost 18 years old and stands over 6 feet tall.
But he's still my baby!!!

School begins August 3rd here in Georgia in our county.
It's early but the positive thing is that every six weeks, they get a week off!
And of course 2 weeks off for Christmas.
It works out really well for the students and the teachers.
We'll be enjoying our lazy mornings for just a few more weeks around here...

Thank you always, always for stopping by to see what I'm up to!!
Happy Tuesday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Old linens and ticking ~

Some things just look beautiful together, don't they?
I've had these fabrics and linens laying together for quite a while now...
just waiting for me to do something with them.

I knew that I didn't want to cut the linens up though.
They have a few light stains but I'm a weirdo and love that about them.
It shows their age and gives them character.

So what I decided to do was make small pillows
that would fit inside the pretty linen pieces!
I also wanted them to have a lavender sachet inserted inside
so I made a pouch of about 1 1/2 cups of fresh lavender buds
and inserted it right into the center of the small pillow.
They are loosely filled the rest of the way with soft poly fil
and then sewn closed.
And I guess you know I had to had a little seam binding too!

They've both been listed in my Etsy store if you'd like to take a look ~

I just can't believe school starts here tomorrow!!!
Noah will be a junior in high school and little Clara is starting kindergarten.
Time just flies by, doesn't it???
Our schools start early because every six weeks they get a whole week off
and two weeks at Christmas. It really works out great for the students and teachers!

Now if I can just get up early...ugh.
Happy Monday in advance precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Something a little new ~

A friend of mine had a special request.
She has inherited her grandmother's crochet needles
and wanted a "book" similar to my needle books
but larger to keep them in.

So....this is what I made!!!
It measures about 7" wide x about 8" high when it is closed.
It really does look like one of my needle keeps!!!
I so hope she loves it ~

Here's an in-progress photo, with pins and lace all over the place.
I made my own pattern using a few crochet hooks that I had.

And yes, I dipped into my yummy stash of lace!!!
It's so much easier to find what I need now that
I've organized it. I have two suitcases full of these treasures...
you can NEVER have enough!
I always say, you can't make beautiful things
if you don't have beautiful supplies ~

The inside first page. Each page has a flap so the crochet hooks don't slide out.
Thank you Vee of A Haven for Vee for sharing that little tip with me!!

I pulled the hooks out a little bit to hold the flap up so you can see the skinny pockets.

The inside center ~

And back page. It will hold sixteen crochet hooks!!

I ended up taking apart a beautiful pair of vintage clip-on earrings and sewed
them to the front. Since this book was bigger, the adornments needed to be larger too.

So there you have it.
I hope she loves it!!!

Thank you always for stopping by to see what I'm up to dear friends ~

Wishing you a great Tuesday!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Always sharing beauty...

Yes...my sweet friends...I am STILL working on the curtains and am
just about ready to throw them all in the burn barrel out back!

I do love them but I'm just SICK of them,
do you know what I mean?
I have so many other projects to work on
but feel that I need to finish these
before I can move on to other things.

So today I will share past pics with you and can
only hope that you love them and they make you smile!!!

I'll never forget the day I walked into my local thrift store
and walked over to the curtain section...and my eyes fell on this precious thing!!!!
I just about fainted!!!
It's only one panel but I didn't care ~ it truly made my heart sing!
I've never had the heart to cut it up, to turn it into something other
than what it is. I should just hang it like a piece of artwork....

I treasure old linens...
and always think of the time and effort
spent to create their loveliness.

I hope you have a beautiful Thursday dear friends!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

These little babies are finally finished, fluffed and adorned ~
The beauty of making lavender sachets is the wonderful
aroma that fills my studio and the rest of the house!

Here are the finished sachets....

All are now listed in my Etsy store should you see one you love!!!

I've linked up with Debra's Monday Marketplace too!!

Wishing you a BEAUTIFUL weekend my dear friends,

Good stuff to share!

So....my other boxes arrived from Texas!
I had to ship back my remaining kits and a few more treasures I found ~
One held this little angel.
I couldn't resist her!
For ten bucks, she needed to be loved....
so I've already found her a sweet dress and she's standing guard now
in The Feathered Nest studio!!

And I've received a bit of mail love I would love to share with you ~
This parcel arrived from the great state of KANSAS!
Beth and Karla sent me a few treasures that I just adore...

And can I just take a moment to tell you how absolutely wonderful it was
to meet these two precious girls!!
They are just as amazing as you would imagine them to be ~
Fun, creative and oh-so-real and down-to-earth.....just what I love!
Here's their goodies to me, all bundled up:

Beth told me about this mold she had and thought it would make a great soap!

Look at Karla's bundle...it's wrapped in more gifts!

Gorgeous goodies from Beth!

Karla sent me frozen Charlottes! I've never even owned one ~ they are beautiful to me...
maybe I should use them in some artwork? Ummm, we'll see :)

She knew I loved tiny white millinery too...

Just look at the gorgeous linens Beth gifted me!!!
Perfect corners for my needle books....just beautiful ~

And teeny, tiny buttons, another weakness of mine ~
and look at Beth's handmade tags...I love it all!

Here you go Beth!!!
My son, Brent, made a soap from the mold ~
What do you think?
Kinda Kewpie-ish?????
