On creating . . .

As I stroll through so many old blog photos,
I realize how much I really DO love making things!!!
And that I'm not too good at making multiples...
or even the same type of item twice ~
So I guess if you ever buy a piece of my artwork,
or anything else that I've made...
you're pretty much guaranteed that it's a one-of-a-kind!!

I don't know why I'm like that, I guess
my creative muse must love change...
and that's really my reason for offering my tutorials too :)

A sweet Valentine image for you ~

Some wonderful treasures I've found in the past...

Pillows I made from my most favorite barkcloth I found EVER!
These even had feather inserts....

I love making the back of the pillow gorgeous!!
Plus you can easily remove it to launder ~

Another assemblage that I made back in "the day"
circa 2007

I just love paper clay ~
I want to make a doll next....and make her clothes too!

This little fairy stood only about three inches tall ~
she was one of my very first paper clay creations.
Yes, she is chunky,
and yes, she has cankles
(calves that really don't have ankles :)
And my boys make fun of her expression but I loved her!!
And so did my daughter-in-law Emily....
so she has her now!!!

Simple patriotic pillows I made for the antique store ~
The pillow on the right?
It's just an old muslin feedsack that I slipped a
feather insert inside,
then folded over and tied with a red-checked bow!

GREAT TIP:
Look at Ross, Marshall's or TJ Max for clearance pillows that
have feather inserts!!!
Don't worry about how ugly they are,
all you want is the inside!
You can buy them for under 10.00 or so and
then create a totally new pillow cover!!!

Just fabric-covered cardboard with a sweet image
I scanned and printed out from my computer
housed inside the most precious little window ~

More paper clay sweeties ~

Paper clay work in progress items ~

Here's the one in the center finished ~
Thank you so much Joy!!!

Just seeing these older works is so inspiring me!!!!
I really need to make something....SOON  :)

are experiencing bad weather....
please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday dear friends!

Wonderful new finds....and such a nice surprise!

I found this AMAZING big bowl this past weekend....
I'm in love with it.
Can I love a bowl?
Why, yes, I think I can.
It's one of those large bowls that used to have a pitcher
inside to use on a washstand....

Incredible wall art....I love architecture!

The most gorgeous Last Supper print ~

A bag of busted jewelry....
I threw away half of it because it was junky new stuff.
This is the yummy stuff I saved.
You can click on the photo to enlarge....

These precious tiny jars with lids.

Can I keep my broken jewelry in one so I can stare at it??

I've bought three different colors of seam binding...
these are the names of the colors ~
And I did check, the medium beige is Bark Tan!

This was my wonderful surprise in the mail....
The upcoming Spring issue of
Somerset Life has my altered Pop-Tart box featured!!!
I didn't write the article on this one
but did tell how I created it and
they incorporated the instructions into the article.
It will be coming out April 1st!!!!
This issue, just like all the others, is breathtaking and a MUST HAVE...

My little ol' box ~

The next three photos are mine that I took right before I mailed it off ~

A few more snippets from the issue to entice you a little bit!

This was an ad in the issue and I have GOT to get this new publication
coming out April 1st too!!!

Whew!! This was another one of those doozy posts!!!
I hope you are doing wonderful and feeling Spring where you are ~
Everything is blooming here in Georgia!

I finished Clara's tutu....it. is. precious!
I don't have a photo of her in it yet but
do have this adorable one of our angel to share with you ~

Have a great Thursday my precious friends!!!

Artwork....the lure of burlap....and gifts ~

First, a wonderful image for you!!!
I think that maybe these are the little girl's grandparents ~
she is just adorable!

My latest art quilt is home from Stampington!!!
It features my sweet Grandmother and represents
how she always nurtured my creativity....

Plus I made a gathering basket and quilted it here and there ~

Both are being featured in the new Art Quilting Studio that will
be out March 1st!! I just got my complimentary copy the other day ~

Remember the small square soap?
Well, I decided to add a touch of burlap
and twine to give them a more rustic look.
Emily helped me get them all wrapped and ready
for the antique space!!

And some sweet mail love from Marie of Lost Bird Studio....
One of her beautiful art pouches filled with little bird goodies ~
The bag is such a work of art to me ~
Thank you so very much Marie,
you are such an angel for sending me
this pocket full of treasures...I love it all!!!

I think I need to make something.
I've been so obsessed with the antique space
and haven't been creating art....
it really is therapy, don't you think?

Thank you always for stopping by to see me
and what I'm up to ~
I love your precious comments!

I hope you have a great Tuesday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

A peek ~

These luggage pocket trays are such a simple idea ~ a beautiful backdrop, a gathered pocket, and an ever-changing gathering of whatever your heart desires!! The vanilla tray below is soon to be featured with another piece of artwork in the next Somerset Studio magazine coming out Nov. 1st . . .

I ended up hanging this one in my living room. Sometimes it's good to keep some of our own artwork. I was finding that I had nothing I had made ~ selling each and every piece as I completed it. It's nice to have this one here :)

I'm constantly amazing at the flying time. Is it my age? The days are also getting much shorter here in Georgia. Dark in the morning and it's getting darker earlier in the evening, a sure sign of fall. I find that it makes for a cozy home though. I love soft lighting and lamps. So turning them on creates beautiful shadows around, turning our house into a haven ~ I also love to light a scented candle to fill the house with a wonderful aroma and as everyone returns home from their busy day the atmosphere welcomes them in.

I hope you have a great Friday sweet friends,

xxoo, Dawn
