I love the word "curiosities"

I hope you had an amazing weekend!!
Ours was very low key....time spent with family and friends ~
A little swimming and a good bit of cooking out on the grill.
I just love grilled food!! Have you ever had grilled corn on the cob?
Absolutely delicious!
I've not been incredibly creative ~ I did list a few vintage items
and neat curiosities
in my Etsy store though!

The photos below?
Make no sense at all...
Just a few things and images I love for you....

Have a wonderful Tuesday sweet friends!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

We honor you ~

Thank you to all of those precious souls who have served
and to those who are still serving our country ~
to keep us free.

We honor you, your family
and all you have sacrificed for us!!!

Always tweaking, always fluffing ~

My sweet DIL Emily took this pic outside the farm house....
barbed wire is scary but it's a wonderful photo, don't you think?

I should be creating but instead I'm playing around with the studio again!
I came across the wonderful old umbrellas I had in my old studio
and had to find the perfect place for them in the new one ~

Well, if you move one thing in this room....you have to move a ton!!!
So I took a few photos of new vignettes ~

I finally found a good spot to place one of my vintage umbrellas!
I love things up HIGH!

Here's the neat old black one ~
is it bad luck to open umbrellas inside???
Not to me...
they inspire me so!!!

I found this little doll dress a few years back ~
I bought it to alter...
Yeah, right.
Some things you just don't touch.
I'm in love with the way it looks and it is totally inspiring to me!!!

So, do you think sweet Clara is in love with her Woody doll?
I think so!!!!

Naps are always better when you have a friend to take them with!!!

Wishing you a wonderful Friday dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Blogger problems? What I've discovered ~

So, I've noticed the Blogger issues lately, have you?
We all take for granted this wonderful blog land we are a part of, don't we?
I miss comments from you and
missed being able to comment on your blogs as well!

I researched a little and found something that has helped me just a little ~
When you are on your internet browser
(it could be Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer or whatever)
these programs try to remember all of the places you've been.
Do you know when you start typing in a blog name
and it fills in the rest of the info for you?
That's the memory or history that it remembers for you.

When you have just opened your web browser,
go to the very top of the page.
Look for anything that says "tools" or "history"
What you want to find is a place where it asks you to delete all of your history.
The history is all the websites you visited....and it remembers A LOT!
Don't worry, you're not deleting anything on your computer itself,
just all of the places you've visited and their web addresses.
Delete them all....it seems to working better now :)

Blogger is still having issues but this has helped me just a little!!!
I hope it helps you ~

hugs and love,
Dawn

Back in the swing of things ~

One of my fav old photos EVER...
I've given it to you several times too ~
they look so happy to be friends, don't you think?

I've had a slow start this week for some reason ~
sometimes too much is on our minds to enjoy what we love.
But as soon as I finally do get started,
all is good with my frame of mind again :)

I love making these little needle keeps...
they're simple but layered with treasures,
these are still in progress but getting close to being finished!
I hope to have them in my Etsy really soon.

I thought I'd try a few different styles this time too....

I love old floral barkcloth and
still have a good bit of my very favorite patterns,
don't you love the cottage feel it has?

I thought I'd cook a special treat for everyone this week,
thank goodness it's Noah's last week of school this year!
My mom used to make Ooey Gooey cake when we were kids ~
This is not one of those recipes you cook every week....
it is SO totally bad for you but is perfect for special occasions :)
Plus, it's so rich, you can't handle much of it!!!

One benefit, other than tasting it's heavenliness is
how wonderful it makes the house smell!!

You can use any basic yellow cake mix too...
I think Paula Deen makes something like this too!
And we all know how healthy her recipes are :)

Take one bite then apply the rest directly to your hips!!!

Have a great Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Thinking on lovely things...

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honorable,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise,
think on these things.

Philippians 4:8

Our thoughts are what rule us....
what we think on ~ concentrate on
totally influence our demeanor, don't you think?

Sometimes it's hard if we are going through trying times,
health problems,
or financial troubles (plus so  much more).

Try your best to think on beautiful, happy and thankful things....
it's so good for us all ~
Just a little something that's been on my mind lately :)

I ran across these pics I took last year for you ~
just to help a little with color selection :)
if you love seam binding!

Thinking beautiful things....
Have an gorgeous Monday my sweet friends!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Tiny treasures ~

I love them.
Small, precious treasures.
I don't quite know why, but if they are old and small...
I just love them!

A glimpse over our back fence...
true heaven I tell you ~
My husband tells me that I've never spent so much time outside!

Today was a day of mending....
like in the good ol' days ~
making things last and endure.
Clothes seem so disposable these days but my family
uses clothes until they totally wear out!
And I'm quite proud of that fact.
Lose a button?
Let's add a new one ~
I love getting our money's worth from each and every piece.

This is a wonderful treasure....
maybe an old light fixture?
I plan on using it as a base for a gorgeous pincushion!
Coming soon to a blog near you :)

You are SO not going to believe this!!!
The photo below looks like a piece of leather, right?
Uh, no.
I snagged a gorgeous magnolia flower petal that fell in our yard.
I noticed that is was very sensitive to impressions so decided
to use a dry bird stamp on it.
Then...I used matte gel medium to apply it to an old scrap of paper
and applied the medium over the petal as well.
Look at how the petal aged and still retained the impression of the stamp!!
(enlarge by clicking if you'd like :)

I have a tiny little treasure box that I had to share with you ~

The box alone is a treasure, don't you think???

A precious friend at our antique mall gave me these goodies ~
yes, GAVE....them to me.
I am blessed!
Look at the teeny antique cards,
pins,
old calling cards,
needles,
and old leather goods.....

I have a weakness for tiny, old leather coin purses or skinny wallets ~
look at this one from
England!!

This is a simple sharing post ~
sharing with you what I love :)
Which I'm sure you know by now is A LOT!!

My Etsy store is empty right now
(thank you SO MUCH for buying my wares!)
don't you worry, I'll be filling it back up very soon ~

Wishing you a very happy Friday!!!!!
hugs and love sweet friends,
Dawn
