Treasures found....

Beautiful angels for you ~

Cicely Mary Barker

I found a few treasures last week....I had to share them with you ~
One is the great old dictionary for five bucks..and you KNOW I love it!
The three canvas fans? No, not my style but for $1.00 each
I can gesso over them and turn them into something I DO love ~
I always look at the price first and then
try to figure out if I can transform it!

The smallest bread tin I've ever seen!!!
So beat up but don't you love it?

Five little bobbins of black thread ~ beautiful....

OK, I know I have a baby shoe thing...
and "Hoarders" will probably come hunt me down because of it
but look at the scalloped edges!!! I couldn't resist ~

Wonderful rusty ornamental things ~

Here are the lovely fan canvases....
but look beyond...to what they COULD be ~

Some of the graphics inside the dictionary
that I didn't discover until I was about to take photos for you!!!

Of course, a book of old sheet music for a dollar
cannot be left behind ~

More beauty for you ~

Sally of Art Inspired by Scripture is creating
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL works of art from very old Bibles
from the thrift....they are not torn, all the pages are there
but you want to touch it, look at it...read it ~
open it randomly and have the Lord speak to you....

Sherry of Creations from My Heart made these gorgeous fairies
from my tutorial ~ don't you love her footed glass jars??

And sweet Marie of Spun By Me
is having her FOURTH giveaway this December!!!
Something we all would love to have....a Target gift card!!

Don't you just love beautiful things?

I went to Griffin today to add a few items to my little space there. I was able to talk with Phyllis' daughter, Charmon, as she was working today. She is such a sweetie. She has completed some beautiful artwork and I just had to show it off. Because, of course, I love beautiful things!! These are a few bookmarks that she's finished to sell in the store. Aren't they amazing?? They truly are small works of art ~

This is another piece that she's just finished. A wonderful cover of an old book that she has altered perfectly!!!

This is a wonderful jar that you know I fell in love with. (so sorry about my reflection in the front of the jar) But believe me, it's so beautiful. The bird image coupled with the nest and feathers is perfect! Next to her artwork are her mother's collages which are beautiful as well. She's used wonderful vintage bits and pieces, combined together to create a sweet work of art ~

The garden section at Antique Griffin ~

This is looking a bit like a fairy house to me!

These are little picks to place in your plants. I think they are precious!

This was a set of mats that I loved the images. Have you ever thought of using plate hangers and hanging them as art?

My little space. Slowly but surely filling up. I've taken most everything I've made there. If you should see something that you're interested in, just email me . . . I'll be happy to talk to you about it!!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!! xxoo, Dawn

Just to give you an idea . . .

of how truly talented Kathy is from Henny Penny Designs, I've gathered together some of the items that I purchased from her when she was a dealer when I had The Plum Tree. She would bring in the humongous basket overflowing with artwork. I would be rubbing my hands together just dying to look at it all. I purchased all of these pieces from Kathy but let many others go. I'm so glad that I did buy these though. They all are in my "studio" cheering me on to be the creative person I want to be!

The art on the left is a large glass soldered piece.

This is her altered baby shoe pincushion ~ primitive style. I bought it in the boy colors because I have all boys!

And I love all things baby, isn't the beveled glass beautiful on this image?

And this large piece is absolutely precious!!

And a fabric covered treasure box.

Kathy and I both love trying new things, not doing a lot of repetitive work ~ it just does something to the creative artist in you and it begins to feel like you're an assembly line when you make the same ol' thing over and over.

I scanned a few things to give you last night that I thought you all would love to use in your artwork. I do hope you enjoy them!! Oh, and thank you so much for your well wishes, my head pretty much feels like a block of wood right now, I'm beginning to think this is pollen allergies!

A few things that I love ~

Having bought and sold antiques now for over ten years, I find that I'm drawn to certain things when I'm out on the hunt. They may not necessarily be a great selling item or a "hot" item but just what I love. I tend to buy what I love anyway because if it doesn't sell, oh well, welcome home!!

Prints and photographs are something that I really love to look for while antiquing. Lamps are another thing, I just love small, pretty lighting. I'll cram as many lamps in one room as I possibly can! Lace, buttons, sheet music and broken baubles and watches are a few more items.

Many of you are probably the same way. You have those certain things that appeal to you, even when you are at Target! I bought both of these beautiful framed pieces below fully intending on selling them but I love them. The little girl, her dress, her sweet smile ~ she's just precious!!

And the woman, my goodness, just look at her skin, hair and the folds of her dress. It looks as if this might have been the back to some type of publication or book but I don't care. The rips do not matter. The beauty is there, and it always makes me smile.

*********************************************

Pictured below is a sweetie. I discovered this bear Friday at the thrift store.
With such a sweet face, how could I not buy it!

Well, in the next few days I'm going to post a tutorial on my little "Altered Bears". Using this fluffy sweetheart, old lace, old buttons, vintage baby/doll clothes, old photographs of children, I'm going to transform this modern fuzzy bear into an antique-looking sweetheart. Stay tuned!

Wishing you all a very happy Monday!! xxoo, Dawn

Yaaaay! Productivity!

First, I must show you this beautiful piece of artwork that I won from sweet JoAnnA Pierotti, I just love it!!! Thank you so much sweet JoAnnA, I will never forget why you created this beautiful artwork and please know how much it means to me!!! A mother's love in neverending . . .

Now for a little work that I'm doing, a small nest piece that I've completed for Antique Griffin . . . a precious little shadow box that previously had a goofy little 3D resin thing inside but now, transformed into a nest shadow box!!

More projects for my antique space, painted panels for signs and other little things ~

A sweet old child's swing that I've painted that would be precious with a potted plant sitting inside!!

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend and seeing tiny fragments of spring . . . xxoo, Dawn
