A thankful heart and a few handmade treasures ~

There's something beautiful about waking up to thankfulness.
Yes, some mornings I wake up I'm grouchy...worried...sleepy, etc.
But this morning the absolute wonderful feeling of thankfulness washed over me.
What a true blessing it is!

I'm realizing that THESE are the good ol' days.
That I've been blessed with the most precious family ever.
A dear husband that I'll celebrate our 35th anniversary with
in just a few weeks.
Five sweet sons that make me realize that they are my true gift in this life.
And how blessed are we that they have met
such beautiful people that love them so.
Plus our two precious grandbabies, Clara and Murray ~
growing like little weeds and filling our hearts with love.
Healthy parents and in-laws that I treasure so very much....
How very thankful I am this morning!

Well, really...I am thankful every morning but I just love it when
it's first and foremost in my mind and makes my heart swell.

Speaking of these two angels, they came for a little visit this week ~
Look at Clara's smile!!! She's already lost two bottom teeth but
it seems like such a bigger deal now that she's lost a top tooth!!

Also...can you believe our youngest son Noah
is now a senior in high school?!!
A friend recently took this wonderful photo of him
and I simply can't believe our baby is 18 years old!
He's still my baby in my eyes though ~

And from the studio....

I finally decided that it was time to make a few needle books!!

It's been quite a while since I've made any of these sweeties.
I guess I'd forgotten how much I really enjoy making them!

They are quite simple but embellished with snippets of old lace
and of course, a bit of seam binding.
I've added these to my shop if you'd like to take a peek!

Plus I've added a few more other goodies too!!!

I hope you are doing so, so good...
and that you too have a thankful heart today!!

Thank you always for stopping by to visit me ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

So where in the world have I been??

I promise I've not dropped off the face of the earth!
I've been working on a few more treasure organizers and
truthfully, I've been procrastinating about finishing them.

They are a TON of hard work and it's like a major accomplishment
when I finish one of these babies!

Here are a few photos of my "in progress" stages ~
I have to find the perfect lace for each and every pocket...
then I have to find the perfect button to adorn each one as well.

The buttons are of course all hand sewn on and then I add more vintage lace
to cover the bottoms of the pockets.

And the top of the organizer MUST have a beautiful lace as well.

I FINALLY finished one of the organizers I was working on...here is the photo of
the finished piece. I so hope my sweet customer loves it!

Also, I've got to share this....a must-have magazine I just bought!
You will love everything inside, I promise ~

And lastly, a few quilt scraps I found while antiquing a few days ago.
I'm ready to work on something small and these will be PERFECT
for some pretty needle books!!!

Please forgive my absence...I've been planting flowers, succulents and even rose bushes!!!

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Pretty little things ~

I ran across this precious image on my computer and
thought what a beautiful Valentine card it would make!!!
Just. for. you....

I've had a few little things that friends have requested so I made a few extra...
I just finished four needle books and had to share them with you.
I used a neat old baby quilt that is just about gone then added snippets of layered
antique lace and then of course seam binding and a few vintage buttons and baubles ~

Each one has two pages of fleece to store your needles...no more getting lost in the pincushion!

They're all listed in my Etsy store!

Now, what to do next?

Wishing you a beautiful Thursday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

The finishing details ~

Are you just about tired of looking at sachets???
Well, I had a few special requests and since I blog about what I do,
there you go!
More sachets!

These first two were extras and did end up in my Etsy shop  :)

Here they all are piled up on top of one another ~
I just love how they look like this.

My special orders...
I so hope they love them!!!!

Thank you always for checking in on me even though I'm making
so much of the same thing lately!!!!

Have a gorgeous Thursday my sweet, sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

The sweetness of friends and a few more sachets!

I'm constantly amazed at how kind my friends are here in blog land ~
I recently received the sweetest gift from my friend
She told me she wanted me to have one of her Valentine ornaments she'd made
but she sent me several more goodies too!

Penny's ornament was so gorgeous and packaged so beautifully...
Better than any store could have done!!

A wonderful handmade pin...needle book...crocheted gloves...note cards...

Thank you so, so much sweet Penny ~
I just love it all!!!!
You truly are a blessing to me.....

And since I've had a few more requests for my printed lavender sachets and
I had to make several for my giveaway winners...
of course I had to make extras!!!
These are in my Etsy shop now ~

And I'll leave you with Miss Ellie...
After folding a few clothes she decided that they
must be meant for her!!!

Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Finally!!! Gettin' it DONE!

And it feels GOOD!
Why I chose to make so many, I don't know.
But they are done.
Finished.
And each one is listed in my Etsy shop ~
Thank goodness!!!
Do you need a needle book??
I have a few you know!!!

Each one is just a little bit different, using antique linens, vintage lace
and beautiful old buttons....

I think WAY too much about the laces, the way they all look together,
and the linens and how they fit the old quilt pieces.....
and then I have to find just the right seam binding that
looks beautiful with it all!

And then I have to name each one so I can tell them apart!!!!

This one's the only red and cream one...so it has no name :(

I'm now working on an I-Phone case...in the same style for a sweet friend of mine....
I'll be sure to share pics with you of course ~
I just hope it works, as I don't own an I-Phone
but I'm using her measurements and just praying it works!

Check out my Etsy for all the needle book listings if you have a minute ~
I'm just thankful they are all finished and I can move on!!

Wishing you a WONDERFUL Tuesday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Happy May sweet friends!!

Wow.... May already!
And look what I found right outside our front door ~
a big ol' Magnolia blossom!!
They really are so beautiful.

AND I've gone nuts again.
I had to make two sachets for someone...what did I cut out?
FIVE.
I also have an order for six needle books...what did I cut out?
TWENTY-FOUR!!
I just have some wonderful components to make
these little jewels so I figure
I should go ahead and make a few extra!

I always dig through my lace stash and press the pieces that I think will work
here or there...then I have to play and switch laces around ~
I want them each to have a different personality.

And here is the mess of lace I dig in, mess being the key word!
I still want to organize this ~ one day.

OH! And look what I ran across in my studio the other day...
A few years ago I wanted to learn how to punch needle embroider!
And I did...and for the life of me, I can't remember how I did it either ~
I bought one lone pattern,
the punch needle tool,
embroidery thread
and got started!

Here's my finished piece!
It's as tiny as can be but feels like a small hooked rug.
You actually work on it from the back
(I do remember that much!)

I guess I need to pop it in a frame or something ~
it seems sad to just keep it wadded up in the case
I keep the thread in.

Oh well, maybe I could watch a YouTube video or something to refresh
my memory ~ I do remember I enjoyed making it :)

But for now, I've got to get these things finished on my desk ~
I already have an art piece idea rolling around in my head
and want to work on it too!!

Happy Tuesday precious friends
and thank you so much for stopping by ~
hugs and love,
Dawn
