After living in the farmhouse now for over seven months
it seems we've all gotten used to the sound of trains rolling past ~
The sounds have become quite endearing to me, but I'm a goober
and that's to be expected!
Spring has finally arrived here in Georgia. I think.
It rained evening before last and a blast of cold air rushed in!
The weather guy called it "Blackberry Winter"
Of course I had to Google it :)
This is what I found:
Oldtimers knew that blackberries need a cold snap to set buds on the blackberry canes,
so as sure as night follows day, there will be a cold snap when the blackberries bloom
called Blackberry Winter.
It comes with a somewhat less severe return of a continental polar air mass

It comes with a somewhat less severe return of a continental polar air mass
after the maritime tropical air masses have begun to dominate the weather.
It's not going to last long, as a matter of fact,
by this weekend we should be in the eighties again!
Look at what my sweet husband brought me home last weekend ~
three gorgeous ferns for our front porch!
I'm going to put them in wonderful old wire hanging planters ~
Look at the tiny buds on one of the big hydrangea bushes out front!
I can't help myself, I have a love affair with their gorgeous blooms ~
This photo is another hydrangea that I brought from our last house ~
my mother's day gift last year!
Look at it's sweet little buds ~
(I'm sorry the pic is a bit blurry, it was a windy day!)
Remember the wonderful pecan trees in our yard?
Just look at them now!!!
A sweet discovery, wild roses growing on the back fence ~
Over the back fence ~
This pic is a little blurry but it's the side of our barn
My babies are getting so big!!
Yes, there are only four now.
A dog got into our back yard and killed two of our chickens a few weeks ago....
it was absolutely awful.
So I've really tightened up the security around their current pen.
We still haven't built their permanent pen
that will attach to the coop Brent made me....
hopefully we will be finishing it in the next few weeks.
We had a clothes line right behind our back fence.
It had an old wire hanging between two posts....
Our son Brent knew it was a dangerous thing to have so he clipped it.
Don't you love the look of it all wound around the post?
Our fence is so jacked up, but that's what I love about it ~
there's even an old baby bed wire spring woven into one side of it :)
This my sweet friends, is an old well house on the back of the house.
The door is nailed shut.
Inside is a very old and very deep well that used to provide the house with water.
Now it's just a dangerous hole ~ thank goodness it's closed off.
I just wanted to share a little look around the farmhouse ~
I hope you have a wonderful Thursday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn
