In my little corner of the world ~

I so hope you had a beautiful Mother's Day weekend!

I had a wonderful time celebrating at my sister-in-law's house

and we were even able to go swimming it was so warm.

All of our boys were there except our oldest Brent, Emily and

our grandbabies Clara and Murray.

They went to Emily's father's wedding in Florida and

Clara was the flower girl. She was so excited ~

Brent shared a few photos with me...

just look at our precious grandchildren!

Another wonderful thing going on around here is that this old farmhouse

got a fresh coat of paint and looks so beautiful!!

Even the metal roof is now sparkly silver!

Rockers on the ready for sweet tea in the evenings...

And guess what? I'm actually managing to keep my succulents alive!

I had to move them off the porch for a few days while it was being painted

and took this photo to share ~

And lastly, I finished two more treasure organizers for a couple of my friends.

By the time they are finished they ending up being really heavy!

I gathered a few goodies from around my studio

and stuffed them into the pockets

to show you how they look when full of keepsakes and treasures.

It's amazing what you can create using a simple drop cloth and old lace!

Antique lace, vintage buttons and plenty of pockets for treasures!

I know you remember me starting this project...

well, I FINALLY finished it this weekend!

A sweet friend purchased it a few weeks ago

and said she wasn't in a hurry to receive it.

Well, with my parents coming for the week of Thanksgiving,

I definitely put off finishing her treasure organizer.

I have to say, that I'm so pleased with how it turned out!!!

Of course, how can you go wrong with vintage lace and buttons???

I so hope she loves it!

Plus, I just have to share a few photos of our precious grandbabies!!

Their mama posted these pics of Clara and Murray today on Facebook

and I thought they were so sweet!

A labor of love...

I fully believe that if you've worked on one project for over two or three days,

it truly does become a labor of love!!!

And the gorgeous damask fabric I used on this piece?

It is the very endings of it...I have maybe a tiny bit to make a few sachets

but I've always, always thought it was so gorgeous!

ANYWAY...my organizer is finished!!!

The pattern worked I think...maybe I'll make another?? We'll see ~

But I do love this one so ~

I made a small cluster of different sized roses and leaves

at the very top to embellish.

I thought I would have added more laces and such but as I see it,

if you fill it with gorgeous treasures you have,

you would want THEM to be the star...

I can see a tiny teddy bear poked inside with it's sweet arms hanging out.

Or even a beautiful card that someone has sent you stuffed in the pockets.

Lace fragments that you can't bear to use...

Or a precious letter from a loved one.

You could place a beloved pin onto the front of a pocket

or stuff a few dried flowers inside that mean something to you.

This is not a shoe organizer.

It is a memory organizer....

To remind you of good times,

precious friends and family

things you love

and sweet memories.

Making progress...

Creating a new pattern is never an easy thing...

especially when it involves MATH!! UGH.

Math was always, always my least favorite subject

but by golly it just keeps rearing it's ugly ol' head!!!!

I'm measuring widths..pockets...pocket depths...blah, blah, blah.

It's truly enough to just take the fun out of sewing I tell ya!!

And so, we will soon find if math has beaten me down or

if I can STILL make something pretty in spite of it all!!!!

Ideas in my head...and making them happen ~

I've had a little something pretty on my mind lately...

I've made a few of these in the past and sold them in my antique store

but want to make a new one.

I've always adored these gorgeous fabric organizers!!!

This photo is always, always in my mind...

just stuffed with sweet treasures ~

SO...I began creating my own pattern today.

I can only hope and pray it will turn out beautifully but

you only know when you've made the thing to see!!!

Time in my art room ~

I've been working with a little of this wonderful stuff on a few projects lately ~

I just love old lace!

I wanted to show you the neatest thing! I was at Tuesday Morning the other day and they had this amazing sectional type organizer thing ~ it can go horizontally across the back of your desk but as you see in my photos, I already have the top of my work table crammed full! So I just stacked it vertically ~ regular 60.00 something dollars for only 19.99!!

I'm trying really hard to get organized, can you tell?

Just some sweet doll clothes that I have in my collection. I pressed them and hung them in the little doll trunk on my desk ~ just look at that little pocket they added on the red and white shirt!! I just love these little handmade clothes ~

Velvet roses in a pretty apothecary jar ~

Do you know what these are hanging on either side of my inspiration board (which I need to fill back up)? They are placemats! They feature the illustrations from the book, Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. I love them so I used plate hangers and hung them as art!
