A few new goodies!!

Which button is the PERFECT button???

That's what I'm always asking myself when making something new ~

So I dump out jars of them so I can pick through

to find just the right one.

Aren't they like little jewels???

I even have them sorted into colors!

That really helps when trying to find the right one.

I found a beautiful old earring that's perfect for one of the sachets!

Yes, it was in the pink button jar for some reason and I'm glad it was.

I just removed the clip-on back and sewed it right on!

Here are the pretty lavender sachets I just finished!!

I've used quilt scraps, doilies, vintage laces, embroidered linens and

gorgeous old buttons. Each sachet truly is a one-of-a-kind!!

I just love using these forgotten fabrics, buttons and trims to give them a new life.

They've all been listed in my Etsy shop if you want see more photos ~

OH!!! And I had a new idea!!!

I took this precious, tattered and stained baby bonnet and

FILLED IT WITH LAVENDER!

I simply sewed up the front, filled it with fresh lavender buds and

then sewed the neck closed. I added an antique lace bow and sweet button

to finish it all off. Then the ties became a hanger!

It's listed in my shop too ~

I love looking at beautiful, old things like this.

They outlived their original purpose but by re-purposing them

we still get to enjoy their beauty.

I've been busy!!! And that's a really good thing ~

Angels are among us ~

There truly are angels among us. Those whose thoughtfulness seems to arrive at a time when you need it most, how do they know these things? Those who know you and try to think of a way to bless you. One of my angels? Miss Sandy. Sandy of Quill Cottage was the first friend from this land of blog that sent me a random act of kindness gift.

As some of you know, that's not uncommon for this to happen here in blogland. But what Sandy sent me that day looked as if fairies had packed the box, it was absolutely precious!! A bird's nest filled with beautiful handmade acorns and vintage lace bird. There were many other wonderful goodies packed inside that parcel, but it touched me that she knew me so well as to send exactly what I would love!!

Well, this sweet friend has done it again! Look what arrived in the mail Monday....the. most. precious. grandmother's brag book EVER!!! Miss Sandy knows how much I love all things vintage baby but she even remembered that I love lambs as well!

Dear Miss Sandy, you have blessed me today with a wonderful gift from your heart and hands and I just LOVE IT!!! I will be proud to put our little granddaughter's photos inside ~ I will treasure it forever, thank you so very much!!!

Great gift giving is an art form. Being observant enough to notice what others love, what they mention, what they enjoy. Not running in the store and picking a random gift that will speed you up in being finishing with your shopping. To be thoughtful and not give a gift that we love but one the receiver would love, that is the art of wonderful gift giving ~

Isn't this image adorable?Plus sweet gifts from Mexico ~ AND....The first photos of the grandbaby!

I fell in love with this image. Sandi of Wayside Treasures sent me a wonderful email with photos from a baby shower that she gave her daughter in law. She had some great ideas and used the vintage baby theme as well.

I told her I loved one of the cards that she used in the decorations and she scanned a copy of it for me to use. Then Saturday I received the original in the mail!! Don't you just love it? I want to use it on the invitations ~ Feel free to enlarge and right click to use it for yourself as well. I'm sure Sandy doesn't mind either!


Also a parcel arrived Saturday from Pattie at The Joy of Nesting ~ she sent me a gathering of treasures for my artwork!! Such wonderful goodies Pattie, thank you very much, it was so thoughtful of you!!! I just love embroidered pieces ~



I've started working on a new tutorial for you!!! This one will have a Christmas and winter theme. It will include three projects in one tutorial!! Hopefully I can get it posted on the Lessons from The Nest blog in the next couple of days ~


I received ultrasound photos in my email today from Brent and Emily!!! Photos of their sweet baby! What a blessing she is ~ I'm so very thankful! How in the world can I already love her? Well, I do ~

Believe it or not this time change actually has be wanting to go to bed earlier!! Who would have ever thought it?? I hope you have a wonderful week dear friends ~ Wishing you many blessings,

It's always fun planning a baby shower!

And planning one for our very own grandbaby, sweet Emily and Brent? WONDERFUL! I've starting thinking of ideas....Emily loves antiques and all things vintage just like I do....and I DO have a lot of vintage and antique baby items so we agreed on an vintage baby theme for the shower!!

I have a beautiful lamb planter that I love that would be adorable on the table with the cake. Plus I have several other baby planters....maybe with fresh flowers inside, all one color...so as to draw attention to the planter as well. I'll have to show you a photo of these things, I'm just thinking right now.

I'm going to make the invitations....last week Michael's had their economy blank card packs half price so I bought a package of white and a package of ivory, not knowing what would work with the images I have.

Several years ago I purchased a lot of antique baby cards from a seller on ebay with the MOST beautiful graphics ever! I'll scan a few designs in, print them out and paste onto the cards ~ Maybe even frame one just for Emily. When I scan them in, I'll be sure to share them too!

Plus I know I want to make a beautiful banner to hang in the bay window ~ something that she could save as a keepsake.....We're planning on the first weekend in February as all others are quite booked up 'till the baby's birth.....Can you tell I'm getting excited??

I want to make the cake too.....a sour cream/buttermilk pound cake with wonderful buttercream icing! Maybe have strawberries with marshmallow cream cheese dip, spinach dip with an assortment of crackers, and a few more things....Oh and Fruit Tea ~ this stuff is the BEST. It's like a gallon of sweet tea, mixed with one can of frozen concentrate orange juice, one can frozen lemonade, and I think one can of pineapple juice...it's so yummy.

I have several wonderful vintage chenille spreads, maybe I could make a sweet blanket out of several squares and use it on the dining table as a table scarf then after it's laundered ~ it will be a blanket for the babe?

For party favors, I'm thinking of making instant Russian tea mix and placing it in those squatty canning jars and covering the lids with pretty fabric circles with the edges pinked and tied with ribbon. Have you ever went to a baby shower and received a really nice party favor? What was it? I'd love to know if you have an other ideas ~ I don't want to give them something they'll want to chunk in the trash when they get home! :)

I think I'd better get busy, don't you? If you have any other ideas to decorate for the vintage baby shower, I'd love to hear them!!! Wishing you all a restful and relaxing Sunday dear friends ~

Can you believe it's Friday already?? The weeks are just flying by and school is soon to be out for summer. I'm always amazed how fast these school years go now. Didn't it seem like we were in school for an eternity when summer finally arrived? Guess it's just me getting older ~
