A few little goodies in the works!

I promise, I have been busy...just not very busy blogging!
It seems that about this time every year I end up making some of these little guys,
my sweet snowman ornaments.

I just love them, they make me smile ~
I should have several finished and in my Etsy shop by the first of the week.
If you want to make one of your own,
I sell the tutorial with photographed instructions in the shop too!!

The above photo is just the first stage...they'll eventually look like this:

PLUS...I've created a pattern for a long, skinny stocking and have tested it out!
I'm going to add some wonderful antique laces and buttons to adorn the front.
So far, I'm really liking the shape of it....I just used muslin on the outside and the lining.
I would love for it to have an aged look when I'm finished ~ we'll see!!

I know it isn't even Halloween yet but I always start making these things
about this time of year because you and I both know,
we will blink and it will be Christmas!!!!
I'll be sure to share more photos as my projects develop too!

Thank you always for stopping by here to see what I'm up to ~
Wishing you a beautiful fall weekend dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

A few new projects ~

I've had a few ideas on my mind...
one is a special request from a sweet customer and
the other?
Something I just want to try!
First...some sweet images for you:

I had a dear customer of one of my needle books want a crochet hook book
to keep her precious crochet hooks safe that she'd inherited from her family.
Well, I have a few crochet hooks of my own,
so I've managed to create a pattern.

She wanted it to have the look and feel of my needle books as well ~
So I pulled out the crochet hooks that I've collected over the years to
use as a gauge for sizing the pockets for her crochet hook book!

I'll be sure to share with you the finished book...and I so hope that she loves it!!!

Another idea that has been cookin' over here?
Using these wonderful, old gloves that I've collected over the years
to make a few BEAUTIFUL fairy shoes....
the leather is ultra thin and is preciously aged.
I actually printed out my own fairy shoe tutorial out just to make these!!!
They will be very white on white...with beautiful aging as well ~
stay tuned to see how these babies turn out!!!!

I so love being creative...
And most of all?
I love sharing it with you!!!

Happy Thursday dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Piddling around...

I've been in that crazy, creative state where I don't know
exactly WHAT to do
so I start several things all at once!

I won't even work on one thing too long...
and move on to another
because I can see it finished in my mind.

I'm a little disappointed though, I thought for sure
I'd have at least one thing ready so share with you but oh well...
I can at least share a few in-progress pics!!!

I'm working on an altered treasure box,
an old altered bottle....
an altered spice rack...
and a journal as well.

Each project is finally coming together but it's time to call it a night!!!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and
are staying warm and cozy ~
Happy Monday precious friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn

It's time for a few new projects!

I've decided we need drapes in our living room.
They will help keep this old farmhouse warm this winter and
we've had some chilly nights as of late!

I've had this wonderful fabric for years now...
gorgeous decorator fabric and a huge 12 yard cut!
So...rather than going out and buying new fabric
I thought, why not use what I have?

I know that the popular choice is neutrals, creams and such
but I still love this beautiful botanical fabric.
I'm going to create a couple of panels
for each window...so wish me luck!!!

I forgot to share this wonderful tote bag
I found on clearance the other day at Hobby Lobby!!!
It's was marked down to about six bucks....
I love how aged it looks!
You can barely see the printed "France" and logo on the front ~

The blue striped lining made it even more irresistible!!!

While at Hobby Lobby the other day, I found the neatest lined laundry basket...
yes, it was in the clearance section but I kept telling myself,
you have five of those willow baskets at home!!!
So I hope to sew a simple linen liner in one and then fill it with
some of my antique lace. Just so I can dig and dig fast!!!
Making my supplies visible helps me so much in the creative process.

I found this treasure while Christmas shopping a few weeks ago.
It is a beautiful table runner!!!
But me, being the crazy girl I am...
I want to make some wonderful things from one simple runner.
Maybe lavender sachets for my Etsy?
We'll see!!!

Seems like the new year has me reeling with ideas!!!!
And you know I'll share what I actually get accomplished with you too!

Wishing you a beautiful Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

A few tiny projects ~

A sweet nest for you ~

While treasure hunting a few days back, I found this glass dome ~
just look at how this cast-off has been transformed into a beauty!!!
My goodies and gifts are inside now
(thank you so much for my nest Karin!)
but I will find something pretty to place underneath
before adding it to our antique space ~
I love the creamy bowl that I already had to become it's base.

I made a sweet candle holder/flower vase to sell too!!!

I've seen a few of these in magazines....glass globes from light fixtures
transformed into bird feeders!!!!
Now it just needs a tree....and a little bit of seed ~

A wonderful decanter that I discovered just waiting for a gorgeous label ~

I found this great punch at Michael's ~ and it was on sale 40% off!!!
It will be perfect to create tags for the antique space...

Thank you all so much for your kind words for my DH.
He's doing so much better!!! You all are so encouraging to me.
You truly are such a blessing in my life, thank you so very much ~

I hope you have a great Thursday dear friends,
love and hugs,
Dawn

A few small changes make a BIG difference!

Here's a sweet bird image that I've given to you before ~
but just in case you didn't grab him then....here he is again!

I've been really busy!!! The color on the back wall of our antique space
at Antique Griffin was a very bright blue and SO not me.
(like it's MY space but I have kind of taken over, sorry honey :)
I bought a really pretty cream color and was able to get it painted finally.
Here are a few before and after shots....it took THREE coats!!
I know I should have primed it first but
I just didn't want to buy more paint and rollers....

And here's the after, much better!!
The shelves come with the space
(it's really just a corner space...)
but the red background had to go too.
Rather than have to paint all of it,
I'm putting burlap covers
over the backs of each opening!!
I love it ~ and think it gives a nice contrast to the cream!

You can see below how tiny it really is!
Now to get busy covering the rest
of the shelf backs and loading stuff in ~

And one of the hazards of painting was
"having" to shop while each coat dried!!!
Look at the beautiful figures I found ~
You may not see the beauty but I just LOVE them!!!
The photos aren't the best I've ever taken either ~
They just had to come home with me,
I'm a freak for statues and figural things.

And this little vanilla vase
had to come home with me as well....
sweet huh?

A couple of giveaways and a wonderful project for you!

Sandi of Wayside Treasures is having a giveaway HERE ~

Patina Soul is have a birthday giveaway HERE ~

And Mitzi of Mitzi's Collectibles is sharing a wonderful FREE project HERE!!

On my last post, I promise I didn't have any
negative input from anyone.
It was just a rough day and I realized
why I love blogging so much....
to escape and to be inspired!!!
Thank you SO MUCH for your amazing, uplifting comments!

Wishing you a great Thursday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn
