Love, fairy shoes and more love~

Don't you love great mail? Bills, grocery ads, more bills...ughhh....
but getting one of these in the mail is just the BEST!!

It's the Sept/Oct issue of Somerset Studio and
should be hitting the newstands September 1st.

Do you remember when I made this artwork in an old luggage lid?
This piece is called "The Greatest of These is Love"
I sent it on to Stampington and ended up writing an article to go with it ~
it's featured in the Melange section of this issue....
Which has TONS of amazing Halloween artwork
and of course other goodies too ~

This is a neat article about Soldering without Glass ~
I'm looking forward to reading this one :)

And what an honor to be featured in the same issue as Lisa Kaus ~
her work is just wonderful!

This issue will be at major book stores the first of September
if you'd like to get one!

On to fairy goodness....I started working on the fairy shoes. I wanted them to have a natural look to them so I had these botanicals (normally used in potpourri mixes) so I thought, why not trim off some of the frilly edges and use the gel medium to collage it on....I'm really pleased with the effect too! I have a few more spots to cover now that I see the photographs ~

Next, the outside....I'm going to try using these leaves
(also used in dried potpourri) ~
We'll see how that looks!!!

And lastly, more love.....daddy love ~
Our oldest son, Brent and his precious daughter Clara...
just before going to bed.

Thank you always for stopping by to see me.
I treasure your comments and appreciate you
more than you'll ever know ~

Have a wonderful Tuesday sweet friends,

I love my mail carrier!

She really is a sweetie, you know....my mail carrier that is....I love when she brings me stuff and Monday she brought me the new issue of Somerset Studio due out on news stands Nov. 1st!! You are going to LOVE this issue too! I'm sorry I keep going on and on about these magazines but they really are wonderful. Such a bounty inspiration is contained inside!

I posted about the luggage pocket tray last week that's in this issue but didn't show you this art piece that's featured as well. It's a change purse assemblage ~ I used an old change purse and stuffed it with things I love!! I'm going to hang it in our living room too ~ I love having a lot of things hanging on the walls so it looks as if collectors of all things old and wonderful live here.

Oh well, I guess they do!

Here's a peek at the magazine ~ it'll be in the stores November 1st!!

The photos look just a little different that the actual artwork, here's a little look at it:

OMGoodness and here's an article by June Parrish Cookson and her Ink Vanilla studio,

I just love her style!

And look at this feature about Christine Crocker and her beautiful work:

Just a few random shots of how I've junked up my art room:

Whew!! I do have a lot of stuff but oh well, every little thing is a small fragment of inspiration for me so when I enter this little space I'm SURROUNDED and INSPIRED!

I'm so excited, Brent and Emily are heading up from Savannah today for a visit!!! We haven't seen them in so long. Monday was Emily's birthday and she wanted to come visit us as part of her birthday gift, how sweet is that? We're all looking forward to seeing one another ~

Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday sweet friends!!!

A peek ~

These luggage pocket trays are such a simple idea ~ a beautiful backdrop, a gathered pocket, and an ever-changing gathering of whatever your heart desires!! The vanilla tray below is soon to be featured with another piece of artwork in the next Somerset Studio magazine coming out Nov. 1st . . .

I ended up hanging this one in my living room. Sometimes it's good to keep some of our own artwork. I was finding that I had nothing I had made ~ selling each and every piece as I completed it. It's nice to have this one here :)

I'm constantly amazing at the flying time. Is it my age? The days are also getting much shorter here in Georgia. Dark in the morning and it's getting darker earlier in the evening, a sure sign of fall. I find that it makes for a cozy home though. I love soft lighting and lamps. So turning them on creates beautiful shadows around, turning our house into a haven ~ I also love to light a scented candle to fill the house with a wonderful aroma and as everyone returns home from their busy day the atmosphere welcomes them in.

I hope you have a great Friday sweet friends,

xxoo, Dawn

A few sneak peeks inside ~ this issue is wonderful to me!!!

(not just because I'm in it, I promise :)

I think blessings really do come in threes!

xxoo, Dawn
