Little creations ~

I just love using my printer to create things!
Having been a graphic designer in the past I also
have a love for wonderful typefaces ~
I printed these out on an 8 1/2 x 11" piece of 67# creme cover stock
and used a scalloped punch to create sweet little tags!

And I FINALLY finished all of my sweet mitten ornaments...
they will soon be on their way to their new homes.

I always have the hardest time selecting just the right button for each ornament!!
Each one is beautifully vintage too ~
I so hope my customer is pleased...

I have a few candy cup orders that I've neglected so those are next in line and then
maybe a few bottle brush trees or how about a snowman??!!
This is such a wonderful time of year for creating these sweet little things!!!

I hope you have a great Monday dear friends ~
hugs and love,

The best of intentions . . .

Don't we all start the day out that way?
With the best of intentions....to get SO much accomplished!
I totally beat myself up too if I've not achieved what I thought I should ~
I think sometimes that I concentrate too many times
on my agenda (which is TOTALLY self-inflicted) and not on the moment....
I. must. stop. doing. this!

I found the most wonderful lamp shades at Lowes
for the two lamps we found for our space!!
All in all these two puppies add up to be a little pricey
and I will price them way high
so we will have some incandescent lighting in our space ~
they don't look like they should be expensive though!
(When lit they have the look of burlap!)

I went ahead and just did the coffee bath for the tags!
It's really much faster (thanks for reminding me Rebecca!)
and they dried in no time.
Plus I did a little sprinkling of the instant coffee
over top and they look wonderful!

I had to use a little bird stamp too....

And I tried so hard to finish this sweet assemblage but to no avail ~
Here's a little glimpse....

Don't beat yourself up if you can't get it all done....
"tomorrow is another day!"

I hope you have an amazing Friday!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Just playin' ~

That's what I'm doing! Now that my Artist Class tutorial has been submitted, it's all good!
I found a napkin in between some magazines beside my computer....
and what did I find inside??
Dried rosemary ~
From the rosemary plant that kicked the bucket months ago ~
but this snippet is not for cooking...it's for arting ~
Does a simple dried sprig of rosemary inspire you?
I just love it!

A precious fairy in the studio that's my sweet muse ~
thank you so much Mandy!
I think she likes it here....

Playing with tags for the new antique space ~
which will be in Antique Griffin....
simple brown ink, a sponge and a little aging of small shipping tags.
I used to coffee dye them but oh well, who has time?
The sponge and ink are quick!
Plus, with a script stamp ~ it's all good.....

I'm trying out packaging ideas for the tiny baskets I found.
Three lavender soaps, wrapped in brown toile wallpaper
then secured with hemp cord.
Simple but that's what I'm after.....
I could add a small square of burlap though :)
Of course, I had to age the edges of the soap a bit with my inky sponge ~
don't stand too close to me, I'm dangerous with this sponge!!

Wishing you a wonderful, creative Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Simple tags ~

I finished them....I wanted to make Tina more than one ~
and as always, adding just a tiny message on each.
They're so very simple, a little layering of papers and a little sparkle ~

If you'd like to send Jan a tag or two for the tag gate
that she's making for Tina
(you can read about it HERE)
to show your encouragement through
her battle with colon cancer, just mail them to:

Don't you love it all?? Thank you Mary, I always love your taste ~

from Susie of From My Home to Yours...
I DO love them Susie and I'll be sure to scan and share them too!

An easy tag tutorial ~

You don't have to be an amazing artist to create a thoughtful tag.
Simplicity can speak volumes with a beautiful image
printed from you computer and then pasted on a standard shipping tag.
Here's a simple tutorial that I posted awhile back:

And what if you don't have shipping tags??
Use the side of a discarded cereal box or other food packaging box.

Cut a rectangular shape (or whatever shape you desire) from the side of the box. Apply spray glue to one side (or any other kind of glue, thinned and brushed on) then lay it glue side down onto the back of a piece of scrapbooking paper, wrapping paper, or even a piece of old music.

Using a exact-o knife or craft knife, using the cardboard as your guide, trim around the cardboard, removing the excess paper. Repeat for the other side of the cardboard as well (apply glue, press glue side down onto paper then trim)

Now you have a pretty covered cardboard tag!! Now you can print any of the images that I've given you (Be sure to scroll to the bottom of my blog and click on FREE VINTAGE IMAGES and all of the posts that I've given away images will come up) OR you can use a pretty photo from an old magazine or catalog.

I open images in my photo editing software and when I click to print, I can choose several different sizes to print the image.....then you can print it to fit your tag!

Print out a verse or word that means a lot to you....something simple can say so much!

Cut the image and word or verse out. You can use decorative edged scissors but if you don't have any, regular scissors are fine!

Glue the image onto the tag as well as the verse or word, use any type of glue you have on hand, I love using a cheap glue stick.

You can add a few buttons, snippets of lace and any other embellishments at this time.

Lastly, punch a hole in the center top of the cardboard and tie ribbon, twine, yarn or what you have on hand through the hole to finish your tag!!!

I hope this little tutorial helped if you've never made a tag before and if you should have any questions, please email me at sewmanyroses@yahoo.com!!

I hope you are having a restful and relaxing Sunday dear friends and if you've not entered my 1100 post giveaway, just a few more hours left!!!!

Such sweet, wonderful gifts have arrived in the mail the last few days.....gifts that make me smile, because of the precious artist's hands that put these treasures together and thought enough of me to give me their wares, thank you so very much!!!!

First is sweet Lorraine of Creative Daily...her parcel arrived and after opening the envelope her gift was wrapped in the most beautiful cheesecloth ~ that had been hand dyed and also screen printed!!! Cheesecloth ~ how cool is that? Wonderful trinkets and treasures, a bookmark with case, a pocket filled with a tiny crocheted doily, ribbon and hand dyed fabric ~ so many wonderful things...thank you so much Lorraine, I love each and every thing!!

Next, Blanca of Magic Moonlight Studio sent me her beautiful handmade tags!!!! They are each such little works of art ~ she has an Ebay store where she sells them for a wonderful price....just take a look HERE. She's just opened a shoppe too!

The trinkets and treasures she included are so neat too! Rusty label holders, keys....Look at the large tags, even one personalized for me. I can so see these hanging from my new windows on the ceiling, can't you? Each one has it very own plastic sleeve to protect the image too. Fairies, birds, cottages, babies ~ she has so many different styles. Thank you so much dear Blanca, you are so very sweet to send me your artwork, I love them all!!!

I love the precious friends that I've made while blogging ~ no matter where we all live, we are a community and we truly care for one another.
I'm just always so happy to be here and to get to know you all ~

Tonight, our son Chase graduates from high school....I can't even believe it!!! We will be going to the ceremony this evening if it doesn't rain! He's been accepted at West Georgia Collage and will be heading there in the fall.....my sweeties are all growing up!

Noah's last day of school is today as well. He has been being tutored at home this last month but went today to a sock hop that his elementary school held as a farewell to the fifth graders. Of course he didn't dance but he did have a blast!!! He and his little walker! He is getting stronger by the day and using the leg more and more. We go his awards ceremony this morning .....then to come home and prepare for Chase's graduation.

I need to share some photos of little Clara soon too!!! She is growing so fast ~ two months old now and she weighs 11 lbs 11 oz!

Wishing you a wonderful Friday sweet friends,
Thank you always for stopping by to see me ~
xxoo, Dawn
