Hello November!!!

It seems that this time of year ALWAYS gets my creative juices flowing!

The cooler temperatures and the changing of the seasons

makes my mind spin with all kinds of ideas.

Here are a few of the things that I've made lately.

It seems all of them are under glass for some reason!

Two altered apothecary jars with French labels

and other pretty embellishments!

This one is in my shop!!!

These have all sold but I just LOVED making these bird-inspired jars.

Nests, eggs and pieces of nature all captured under glass ~

And lastly, I've been making ornaments using 6" glass test tubes!

They are approximately 1" in diameter. I've added glitter snow,

a tiny bottle brush tree and other goodies to make a pretty Christmas ornament.

They can hang on a knob or on the Christmas tree!

And of course, loving natural elements, I had to try to make a few botanical test tubes.

They are my very favorites! I love drying flowers and other greenery

so I've made little gatherings for each test tube.

These have all been added to my Etsy store ~

It's so nice to be able to use the things that you've been gathering and collecting.

I have dried flowers everywhere, stems from pretty bushes,

feathers and other fragments of nature to use.

But it seems when you place them under glass

it gives them a special kind of importance!

Welcome back sweet muse!

It's funny how our creative muse works (or doesn't!)

Seems mine's been on break for quite awhile but

is slowing returning!

I think it may be the changing of the seasons.

Fall is my very favorite and it always brings creativity!

So, in returning to blogging a little more often,

I thought I'd share a few projects that I've recently finished.

First, I've altered a beautiful bottle that I've had for years.

Yes, years.

It has beautiful lines and I finally decided it was time

to give it a facelift!

I've used wonderful wedding lace and even a piece of the back

of a vintage wedding dress to feature the gorgeous satin buttons.

Of course I had to add my favorite seam binding and

even a vintage rhinestone pin.

The French label is a favorite of mine and suited it perfectly!

The small ruffle under the satin button section is actually

the wrist section from a vintage sheer glove.

Yes, I cut it to pieces. But I only had one and now it looks

so pretty on the neck of the bottle.

It would look beautiful displayed in a bathroom or on someone's dresser.

I also finished a few pressed flower bookmarks!

These have already sold but I plan on making more.

I have a huge phone book FULL of pressed flowers!

I'm sharing the photos below because I simply love drying flowers.

They are beautiful to me alive or as they dry!

And lastly, this girl.

Thelma seems to love my new throw and has claimed it as hers!

Next up?

I'm going to alter a few apothecary jars!

One last little thing...

I had such high hopes to make so many wonderful things

this Christmas season but it just didn't happen.

There were so many soap orders to keep up with

(which truly have been a blessing)

and the days seem to be flying by like lighting!

It's always like this when Thanksgiving is late in November though...

I did manage to finish my altered bottle!

I'll share a few photos with you. This bottle is an old one

and I created a stopper using a glass knob and a cork!

I used one of my favorite labels on the front,

a little vintage wedding lace...seam binding and of course

a beautiful vintage rhinestone bobble to finish it off!

I just SO, SO HAPPY about my sweet friend Tammy's recovery!!!

She's totally off the ventilator now, breathing on her own.

She does have a simple oxygen mask on and is slowly

but surely getting over being sedated for an entire week.

She's communicating with her family and this is such a wonderful thing!!

Finishing things up ~

I finished a few of my projects last night!!

The altered spice rack and the journal are all ready to ship

to my sweet friend Mary today ~

I so hope she loves them both!

The treasure box is making progress...it is sold as well and

is looking so pretty to me.

You just can't go wrong with a

gorgeous images and vintage lace!

It's further along than this pic shows and I'll be sure

to share finished photos as soon as it's ready.

The old bottle still needs foofing and some pretty jewelry...

I'm hoping to finish everything up today!

A few more ~

I took the time to make a few more sachets!

Are you sick of seeing these every time you pop over here?

I hope not, I really do enjoy making them.

I made one out of some of the pretty damask fabric

that I only have a couple more small pieces of...

and one is in the shape of a gift!!

I found the most wonderful bottles at Hob Lob the other day!

I bought a few to alter...

Aren't they beautiful with their glass stoppers?

No, not hump day but

our precious grandson Murray's very FIRST Birthday!!!

He's growing like a little weed...

We love you so much sweet boy!

Transforming the ordinary ~

THAT is what thrills my soul!!!

Taking something common...something ordinary

and turning it into something BEAUTIFUL!

Simply by adding special elements,

wonderful touches

and a little TLC.

I wanted to share with you a sweet bottle I created for my friend Mary ~

I used a beautiful old earring I've been hoarding for years

to adorn the neck ~

I used a beautiful marble-looking cabinet knob with a cork

I screwed to the bottom to serve as the stopper.

And I had to use my very favorite label image...it's so gorgeous to me.

And with just the right amount of antique lace...and crinkled seam binding,

it all comes together!

Speaking of seam binding, I believe I've discovered my new favorite shade...

CROQUETTE BEIGE.
