Little Christmas wishes under glass ~

After working on my fairy house for the last few weeks,
it was so nice to get back to a few smaller projects!

I invited a dear old friend over for a creative day in my studio
and we had an absolute BLAST together!!!

Tammy and I met at art school years and years ago.
With both of us being creative spirits, the ideas just FLY
when we get together to make pretty things.
Plus add in the laughter, reminiscing and love...
well, that's just the icing on the cake!

These sweet Christmas tubes are just a few of the results
of our wonderful day together ~

Sometimes you have to make a HOT MESS to make something beautiful!!!
Look at that crazy table!

These are SO much fun to make!!!
We also made a few botanical tubes that I'm finishing up ~
They are filled with little snippets and elements of nature.
Beautiful to display year round if you're a nature lover like me!

The Christmas tubes are listed in my Etsy store and
the botanicals tubes will be soon as well!

I hope you're staying cozy on this chilly December day
and thank you always, always for visiting me here!

Hugs and love,
Dawn

You know I love you, right?

I mean it.
Because of you...
because you appreciate my little creations...
buy my simple little tutorials...
I was able to purchase a NEW COMPUTER!!!

I'm so, so very grateful and thankful!
And oh.my.goodness, y'all...
IT IS FAST!!
I'd been using the same computer since 2008 and
just didn't realize how slow that baby had become.

I did have a back-up hard drive but hadn't backed it up in
years so I possibly have lost a ton of images and photos.
But I also purchased an encasement for that old hard drive
and my son is going to take it out,
put it in the new encasement and see if it will be accessible.
He's thinking it was the fan in the old one that blew.

Oh well, you don't care about all that!
But I still just wanted to thank all my friends and customers
for helping me get a new computer so I am back in business!

In other news...

We went to the North Georgia mountains last weekend
to visit my precious mama and daddy. Good grief I love it up there!

In the studio?
I'm working on a transformed treasure box!
I'm adding a beautiful antique image on the top and
embellishing with lace and trinkets.
I'll share soon!!

I hope you are doing so, so good!
Thank you always for stopping by to see me
sweet friends.

hugs and love,
Dawn

The wonderful gift of a new year ~

Have you ever stopped to think about that?
Time is a gift.
A gift some are not blessed with.
My precious friends Tammy and James lost
their 18 year old son a few days after Christmas
and it has rocked my world.
Not to mention how it has devastated theirs....

I met Tammy and James when I started college in the fall of 1979.
We were all going to be art majors. I had a full load of classes and
then this amazing 2 hour art class that was THE BEST!

The teacher was the most wonderful man, Tommy Daughtry...we all loved him.
Tammy and James met in that class and fell in love.
The rest is history.

I have to tell you a precious story though.
All of the art students gathered together for a Halloween party at
someone's apartment, I don't even remember whose it was.
But we were all so excited to go!

Tammy was going as a baby....A BABY!
She wore baby doll pajamas...
had a bonnet, pacifier, bottle, THE WORKS!

Well, she'd been flirting with James (a guy in our art class) and well,
he decided to go to the party as Groucho Marx!
He had the suit, painted on mustache...
he looked just perfect for the part!

I went as a cowgirl...boring.
I wore jeans and a plaid shirt.
Big deal. I probably didn't want to mess up my hair...

Well, the night was going wonderfully, we were all having the best time!
Then James and Tammy emerged from somewhere and she had the
BIGGEST black smudge all over her sweet mouth from where
Sweet Groucho had gotten a hold of her!!!!
And truly, the rest is history!!!

My husband and I were the Matron of Honor and Best Man in their wedding...
and she's one of those friends that if you don't talk to for six months,
it doesn't matter.
We pick up where we left off...just loving seeing one another.
She and James rented a room at The Plum Tree when we had
our antique store because
they love antiques just like we do.

Dennis and James worked together for a few years too...
Tammy has created beautiful floral bouquets
for my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary,
Clara's baby shower...
and even Emily's wedding bouquet
when she married our oldest son Brent.

I'll stop.
But I just wanted you to know how wonderful they are
and that they need your prayers.

They have two older daughters Becca and Alex
but the Saturday after Christmas
their youngest son Jonah was in a fatal car accident
and they lost him.

Please pray for this precious family and let's all count our blessings
and thank the good Lord above for the gift of this new year!!!!

hugs and love to you all,
Dawn

A must-share book...and more treasures!

First, a few image gifts on this cold winter day!

I just have to show you a wonderful new book
Lisa gave me for my birthday!!!
She told me how much she loved it and KNEW I would.
Well, with buying Christmas gifts and such, I just didn't get around to buying it.

But don't you love going to the door and seeing a box from Amazon
with a big sticker on the top that says "gift inside"??!!
It was this beautiful book and I just LOVE IT!

The name of it is 'A Life Less Ordinary' ~

I really haven't had a chance to read and delve into it but I will soon.
It may take a few evenings to read and soak all of the wonderfulness in!!!
Here is a peek ~ some pics are blurry but trust me, it's amazing.

Wonderful, right???
Thank you so much sweet Lisa!!!

I was able to get a few more treasures listed in my shop...
here is a little peek!

I've been walking around the studio and house grabbing things ~
stay tuned, there's more to come!!!

I hope you have a wonderful Friday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

The most wonderful news!!!

My dear friend Tammy has had a wonderful day of healing today!!!
Please read the latest report from her sister Dawn:

PRAISE GOD! My sister has turned a corner, all her numbers are great
and all sedation has been cut off - we now wait for her to wake up,
the doctor says it can take a couple of days due to the amount
she was on and that it is in her blood stream and body cells
and has to work its way out gradually.
Once she wakes up and begins to talk she can come off the ventilator.
When she came into the hospital she had viral pneumonia
she now has bacterial pneumonia and that is what is spiking her fever.
The cultures have not come back that will tell us what the infection is
but the doc is administering 2 different antibiotics to cover it in the meantime.
Doc did a CT scan to make sure she does not have a blood clot in her lungs
but the results will not come back until tomorrow.
Thank you to each and every person that has prayed for my sister!
Now please pray she wakes up very soon and
all will be fine once she does and her recovery is quick!
Thank you God for your many blessings and For answering payers.
Love & Hugs to all!!!

UPDATE!!!!!!

Tammy's sister just posted this wonderful update on Tammy!!!!

HALLELUJAH! Went at lunch to see my sister and the ventilator
is removed and she talked to me.
It is barely above a whisper but she knew who I was and talked to me.
She sipped water out of a straw and only has a oxygen mask on.
Asking for her husband and wants to go home.
She does not remember anything from weeks before,
only last night and today for now.
So excited to see her eyes open, still a little groggy,
in and out but alert and aware.
She will still be in there awhile and has a way to go
but praising GOD for his precious miracle!!!
I told her I had to go back to work and she started to cry
and asked me not to leave her...
broke my heart.
I told her I would be back in a couple of hours and told her I loved her
and she said love you too!
Such a blessing!!! Awesome!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for
your precious prayers for my dear friend ~
She is an amazing person and I know you all would just
love her so much!!!!
Please continue to keep her in your prayers ~

Thank you all sweet angels,
hugs and love,
Dawn

My Christmas wish...

Dear sweet friends,
Sometimes things happen in your life that make you realize
what is truly important in this life.

It's not the stuff.
It's not where you go or what you see.
It's not anything material at all...

It's the precious people in your life.
The family that you've been blessed with,
the friends that you hold dear for so many years
and your treasured relationships with them.

My sweet friend Tammy Cottrell,
who I've known since we were seventeen,
is in ICU right now suffering from double pneumonia.
She is on a ventilator and feeding tube
due to the seriousness of her condition.
And to make matters worse, she now has an infection
that she has acquired since she's been in the hospital
that they are fighting with antibiotics as well.

So, my request from you is for your prayers....
Please pray for this precious girl, mama, wife, sister, friend and artist ~
for complete healing and restoration to good health.

I love you much sweet Tammy!!!!

Wishing you a blessed Sunday dear friends,
hugs and love always,
Dawn

Sweet, sweet friends!

I've made so many amazing friends over these past few years.
And the neat thing about having a blog, sharing so much and what you create
folks tend to get to know what you love, what you're attracted to and
simply more about you!

Julie at Red Hen Studios has been a friend for years and messaged
me on Facebook and said she just left a yard sale that had the most
amazingly old glass glitter that made her think of ME!
She left it behind but wanted to know,
"Did I want her to go back for it?"
I replied as fast as I could, "YES!!!"
The whole bundle was only 10 bucks!

But isn't it wonderful how we all get to know each other?
Knowing that someone would love this...
could use that in their artwork, etc.
I love blogging. I can't help it. I just do!

It's such a wonderful, supportive community ~
you all have lifted me
you have encouraged me
and you have always, always cheered me on!
Makes me cry and makes me wish I could meet you all in person!

Here's the wonderful glass glitter Julie mailed me ~
My camera is getting old and simply
can't capture how beautiful it is but
maybe you will get an idea?

Isn't it AMAZING???
Now.
To think of something beautiful to make
to use this goodness on....

With our new soap store all fresh and new to us,
I've been trying to think up a few ideas
for our tiny speckled egg soaps!

Here's something that I came up with ~
I found this wonderful package of 25 white tulle circles at w-mart
and gathered three little eggs inside each circle
then used a few pieces of coordinating seam binding
to cinch each one up!
What beautiful party favors!!!
For showers, for luncheons, for bird lovers...etc.

And can't you just see the beautiful speckled ivory soap
gathered up with ribbon for wedding favors?

We're having a 20% OFF SALE on your entire purchase
for just a few weeks...just type in the coupon code "SUMMER"
when checking out if you should order any!!!

And we did add a few more goodies to the 1925 Farmhouse Goods shop too
if you want to take a peek!

I hope you had a wonderful July 4th weekend!!!
We were covered in rain, rain AND MORE rain here in Georgia.
I do believe we have mosquitoes the size of small birds right now!!!

Wishing you a wonderful Monday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn
