A thankful heart ~

Last week my sweet cousin tagged me in a link.
It was an estate sale for an eclectic artist.
I went to the link and there were 200 photographs!!!
I may have foamed at the mouth a little bit because
she loved all that I love!

My cousin lived VERY close to the estate sale and said she may go.
I asked her if you find anything at all that you think I'll love, get it...
I'll send you the money!

Well, she went.
And ohmyland...what she bought for me is WONDERFUL!!!
I asked her what do I owe you hon?
(thank goodness it was 50% off day on Sunday)
Sherry told me nothing...it's all a gift from me.

WHAAAAT?

Thank you so much precious Sherry!!! I love it all so much!
I'll let the photos speak for themselves....
gosh, I've got to get back to creating.

Such sweet, precious treasures!
Some I will keep in honor of the sweet artist who passed.
I want to honor her taste, her love of old and her artistry.

You know I had to share though!
Wishing you a beautiful spring and
thank you always for visiting me!!!

Hugs and love,
Dawn

A little art, a little organizing and a precious gift!

I can't even believe it's already getting close to the end of January!
Seems the time flies by faster and faster as I get older.

I DID actually create something in the last few days!!!
This is an old clock case we've had for years and my husband
had the idea of me turning it into a nest assemblage.
Of course, he was right!
And it turned out so precious!!!

It being only 4" wide I had to use a very teeny nest.
I lined the interior with a wonderful mesh fabric,
embellished the nest with feathers and fragments of moss tucked here and there.
And then of course, added three tiny speckled eggs.
The top is tied with scraps of silk sari ribbon and an antique woven piece.

Don't you just love small things? They are my very favorite.
A dear blog friend purchased this piece last night as a gift to her husband!

As I was cleaning up the studio last week
I thought I'd share some of my antique lace collection.

Now this is not stored in some fancy antique chest but a new
plastic drawer thingee but it does serve it's purpose.
I took a photo of the contents of each drawer to share with you.
This is not ALL of my lace but some of my very favorite antique pieces...

Here is the contraption that I'm using.
They are not that attractive but work beautifully!

I'm trying to tag boxes so it will be easier for me to locate things.
It's terrible when you are looking for elements and can't remember where you put them!

I've even been organizing my button collection!!!

Dried roses and beautiful pieces of bark...

And yes, I have a thing for teddy bears!
They decided they wanted a selfie for me to share with you! HAHAHA!

THIS is the precious gift that I wanted to share with you!!!
As you know we lost our sweet Ellie girl back in November.
Well, a dear blog friend that I've know for YEARS wanted to
needle felt me a small replica of our precious pup.
LOOK AT HOW AMAZING SHE IS!!!!

Can you even believe it??
If you would like to request something for yourself
from my dear friend Cheryl Goode MacKinnon,
you can find her on Instagram HERE
or you can email her at zanymaydoriginals@yahoo.com.

Thank you ALWAYS for visiting me here on my little blog!!
Wishing you an amazing week dear friends ~
Hugs and love,
Dawn

Life is full of sweet surprises!!!

Well, one wonderful surprise is this sweet little sparrow nest that the mama
built inside of the wreath on our front door!
I'm still taking photos as times passes....I can't wait to see the babies!

This is the next WONDERFUL SURPRISE!!!
I received a precious gift from one of my blog friends,
a true soul sister as she has been featured in Somerset Life
in the past, as have I.
Just look at what this sweet Melissa has gifted me!

So many BEAUTIFUL elements to create with!!!
You inspire me so much dear Melissa and I appreciate
each and every gift from you!!!!
Here's to us both creating and using our true talents!
Thank you so, so very much.
I've been in a funk for too many years but
you've truly inspired me!!!

Hugs and love precious friends,
Always,
Dawn

Snippets of loveliness ~

The other day I pulled out a blank canvas wanting to make something new.
It was a simple 11 x 14 canvas that I simply layered with
snippets of loveliness!

I started by gluing on a piece of vintage linen to the base.
Raw edges were exposed, it didn't matter either.
I wanted it to have more of a loose feel.

Then I began layering things.
I ripped pieces of a gorgeous Ralph Lauren sheet that I love.
(That is the vintage roses fabric you see peeking through the lace!)
I cut the bottom off of a precious old baby dress.
The scallops and embroidery were perfect!
Plus the pale pink shade was beautiful with the colors
in the ripped sheet pieces.

At first I don't glue a thing.
Well, except for the base fabric covering the canvas.
But after that I begin playing.
Put this on, look at it...remove it and try something else.
I keep doing this until I love what I see.
Of course it helps to have a gorgeous image
as the focal point in the center!!!
Below is a photo of my work in progress ~

And finally, when I KNOW it's right, I glue everything into place!
Below is my finished piece.
I happened to show a work-in-progress photo on my Facebook page
and it sold right away before it was finished.

After the photo below was taken,
I added about five mother of pearl buttons to the pretty piece
of pink ribbon and lace across the bottom.
Sometimes it just needs one more beautiful element!

I have to share some recent thrift store finds with you!!
Both of the chairs that I've placed in front of our fireplace
were found for only 15.00 each!!!
Now that Spring has arrived, the fireplace is out of commission
so why not pile in a few more chairs for extra seating?

This past month on March 21st, my sweet husband and I celebrated
our 35th wedding anniversary!
I created a sweet collage of us and our precious sons...

We celebrated the day with our son Brad and
had lunch at a classic Atlanta restaurant,
Mary Mac's Tea Room
(ohmygoodness, SO DELICIOUS!)
#marymacstearoom #marymacs
and then we had an afternoon of touring
a beautiful Atlanta cemetery
and enjoyed a little bit of antiquing and junkin!!!

It really was such a fun day!!!

I've got to share this photo of the wisteria that
grows wild near our old farmhouse ~
Spring has definitely arrived here in Georgia!!!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend
precious friends!!!

hugs and love,
Dawn
