Home is where you hang your ferns ~

Yes, I've used that title before here on the blog...
but I don't care, I love it!

It's been about three years now since I've enjoyed beautiful ferns
swinging on our front porch. It's so good to have them again.
To me they signify hospitality and southern charm and
I especially love my old wire planters that I plant them in.

I've also planted a few rose bushes!
It's rained about 400 days in a row now (exaggerating) and
the ground was wonderfully soft, so I bought three sticks
that claim they are roses and placed them in the ground.
We'll see if they grow! They are supposed to turn into
the gorgeous roses that are featured below.
Well...we'll see.

I've been playing around with a few fabrics to turn these
sweet pink mary jane's into pincushions.
I shoved this particular fabric into one to get an idea what it would look like.
You won't believe it but it's actually
a Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic fabric napkin from Target!
I love having little stashes of fabrics around my studio. I've had this one for years now
and you just never know when the perfect time to use it will be!
This is just a test, it is in no way finished.

I'm also working on my last two organizer orders!
I'll be sure to share photos of them before they mail out too.

I hope you are doing so very good and
that Spring has finally arrived to smile on your face.
Things are really good here and I'm so very thankful ~

Wishing you a beautiful day precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Breaking the seal ~

That's truly what I feel like I did...FINALLY.
Broke the seal of creativity.

When you get out of the habit of making things it
can seem daunting to even get back in there
and get started on something new!

I roll things around in my mind and finally I told myself,
you are going to make something!!!

Yes, it's another lavender sachet but I'm really working on
being a little more loose in my composition and since I have
about three big ol' bags of lavender,
a sachet was the perfect project.

I've saved so, so many snippets of lace, fabric that I've printed images on
and of course you know about my button hoard...
ANYWAY, I just had to share my bit of creativity!

Since my little pretty sachet has roses featured on the front,
I thought I would look through my computer and share
a few roses images. Most I've put up here before but
sometimes people miss them! So save them and use them
on handmade note cards or even in your artwork.

Please forgive my absence lately....
I think I've been pretending
I'm on vacation!!!

The lavender sachet has been added to my Etsy store!

Happy Tuesday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Finding the beauty in each day ~

Sometimes our "real" days aren't really blog-worthy...
they are those days where you vacuum, do laundry,
feel a little under-the-weather but trudge on.
Because you love your family and have a things
you want to accomplish for that day.

But truthfully, these simple things are not something you'd
really want to share to inspire others on your blog!
So I dig around in my archives,
to find images I've shared in the past
that maybe you missed?

Here are a few, click to enlarge any and all to save
for your own personal use ~
I just love roses if you can't tell!!

I love blogging though, I can't help myself ~
You all are my inspiration, thank you so much for that!!!

Happy Thursday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Beautiful roses...wonderful finds!

The day before the yard sale weekend before last,
a sweet college friend came over for a sneak peek preview
and ended up visiting with us most of the evening...
we had the best time catching up!!!

Don't you love friends like that?
No matter how much time passes,
you always just pick right up where you left off ~
You may remember that she was so generous

Tammy owns her own flower shop, One Rose Florist in Jonesboro, GA
and showed up with a gorgeous bouquet of roses for me!!!
They were fading this past weekend so I clipped them off to dry...
I love them just as much now as I did when she gave them to me!!!
Appreciating the beauty at every stage....

I made a little trip to Michael's this weekend and found several treasures!
You know I have to share with you so here's a look....

In the jewelry section I found a whole new batch of Industrial Chic products and these
gorgeous Rhinestone looking pins had to come home with me!!!

Don't you love their dollar section??
I found these sweet Mary Engelbreit cards and this pen!
The pen ended up being only .01 cent!!!!!

Of course I had a 40% off coupon and applied it to this big ol' pack of Creative Paperclay ~
I've had the hankering for a LONG time to work on an art doll...
I'm still trying to muster the courage though!
I'm such a freak and don't want it to look like a hot mess ~

And FINALLY my Michael's had this perfect flesh color of Martha Stewart paint...

And I found the latest issue of Somerset Life...it is BEAUTIFUL!
So it came home with me too.

And the crazy thing? They already had some of the French General line on clearance
so I scooped up this wonderful ribbon...

Lisa gave me some French General fabric for my birthday a while back
so I thought the ribbon would look perfect with it!
Maybe for a few lavender sachets?

And lastly a new Etsy listing!
This piece didn't make it into the yard sale
because, well...
it's too pretty!!
Click HERE if you're interested ~

I always feel like I don't thank you ENOUGH.
For taking the time out of your busy day to visit me
and to see what I'm up to ~
Thank you so, so much!!!

Wishing you a beautiful Monday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

And one was just right!

I've added more roses to the guest room!
I finally found these precious old panels (I have fabric stashed everywhere!)
These just happened to be inside of a vintage suitcase under our bed :)
I'm not happy with the rod but had to see them hanging...

I just started working on my new tutorial
to add to my Lessons from The Nest shop!
A sweet elf shoe ornament!
I've been designing the pattern and working on several prototypes...
The one I created last year was really quite small and hard to
manipulate with your fingers. So I enlarged the pattern and, well,
it was way too big (you can see my patterns stuffed inside)
But finally I reached a size that I think you'll love!

Now that I have the pattern, it's time to begin taking photographs
while I create one from beginning to the end, step by step.

These are in no way finished in these pics but you know
I have to show you what I'm up to!!
Wait till you see the finished shoe :)

I ran across the page below I'd scanned from my inspiration files.
I've shared it with you before but I think these are so lovely
and would make beautiful gifts, don't you?

Click it twice to read it larger ~

Have a very happy Tuesday dear friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn
