A slice of life ~

My goodness, it seems that time is whizzing by at a high rate of speed!!

I guess the older I get I realize just how fleeting time really is.

I have been busy though!

I finished the two organizers that were to be baby shower gifts.

One even had little touches of pale, pale pink sprinkled all over it.

I had the most gorgeous pink ribbon that I used on some of the pockets

and across the bottom too! I even found pale pink buttons in my stash

to add to the front of the pockets. I guess it helps when you're a hoarder!!

Here a few photos I wanted to share with you:

Plus I had a friend wanting a pair of baby shoe pincushions...

These are so fun to make!!

I had a few sugar dishes that I thought would be pretty repurposed as pincushions too ~

They've sold but I still wanted to share them with you!

And now I have a project of trying to save six panels of wonderful bark cloth!

The curtains have serious damage on the edges so I'm pressing them

then creating new side hems for them. So far it's going really good ~

I just love saving beautiful, old things!

And speaking of time flying by...

GUESS WHO IS 3 YEARS OLD TODAY???

So, the temp is supposed to 90 degrees here in Georgia tomorrow.

I'm ready for cooler weather!!

Forgotten lace, old buttons and humble fabrics ~

I'd been wanting to get back into the studio and

put together a single treasure pocket similar to my large ones...

and I FINALLY did!

It's funny how I drift away from making things for awhile but then

when I get back to it, I love is SO MUCH!

Here's the first one that I made...it's sold but I still wanted to

share it with you. I even stuffed it with a few of my own treasures too.

A roll of sheet music, antique baby photograph, rhinestone pin, an old baby shoe

and a teeny bundle of vanilla roses. It's simple really, but you get the idea.

I stuffed the bottom of the pocket with sewing pattern tissue

to lift the items up but it could easily just be filled with even

more goodies!

I'm also finishing up another Treasure Pocket Organizer.

These take time, just because I want each piece of lace, each button and

their placement to be just right (well, in my mind anyway!)

This one is sold as well but it's fun to see in-progress photos.

Sweet old lace, pressed and waiting for a new purpose...to be even more beautiful!

More lace stash...you really have to have a ton of stuff to make pretty things, I mean it!

You can't create without a wonderful supply to choose from.

And guess what else has been going on around here?

This precious girl...

this sweet baby, our granddaughter Clara started FIRST GRADE

this past Monday!!

She's so excited!! But I'm sure, since it's Friday and

this was her first week back, she'll be exhausted tonight.

And don't worry about our kids starting back so early ~

Every six weeks, they get a full week off AND two weeks at Christmas!

It's a great schedule and works out so well for the students and the teachers.

AND this goob...our sweet baby Noah...

now 17 years old, started his SENIOR year of high school!!!

And what's funny? This is a photo from last year.

He's growing his hair out and has a BEARD!!!

WHAT?

Someone at school told him yesterday, "Hey man, you look like Jesus"

HAHA! I told Noah, what a compliment!

Where has the time gone?

I hope you're having a wonderful summer and staying cool.

You realize we will blink and it will be Fall!

In my little corner of the world ~

I so hope you had a beautiful Mother's Day weekend!

I had a wonderful time celebrating at my sister-in-law's house

and we were even able to go swimming it was so warm.

All of our boys were there except our oldest Brent, Emily and

our grandbabies Clara and Murray.

They went to Emily's father's wedding in Florida and

Clara was the flower girl. She was so excited ~

Brent shared a few photos with me...

just look at our precious grandchildren!

Another wonderful thing going on around here is that this old farmhouse

got a fresh coat of paint and looks so beautiful!!

Even the metal roof is now sparkly silver!

Rockers on the ready for sweet tea in the evenings...

And guess what? I'm actually managing to keep my succulents alive!

I had to move them off the porch for a few days while it was being painted

and took this photo to share ~

And lastly, I finished two more treasure organizers for a couple of my friends.

By the time they are finished they ending up being really heavy!

I gathered a few goodies from around my studio

and stuffed them into the pockets

to show you how they look when full of keepsakes and treasures.

It's amazing what you can create using a simple drop cloth and old lace!

Antique lace, vintage buttons and plenty of pockets for treasures!

I know you remember me starting this project...

well, I FINALLY finished it this weekend!

A sweet friend purchased it a few weeks ago

and said she wasn't in a hurry to receive it.

Well, with my parents coming for the week of Thanksgiving,

I definitely put off finishing her treasure organizer.

I have to say, that I'm so pleased with how it turned out!!!

Of course, how can you go wrong with vintage lace and buttons???

I so hope she loves it!

Plus, I just have to share a few photos of our precious grandbabies!!

Their mama posted these pics of Clara and Murray today on Facebook

and I thought they were so sweet!

Display your treasures!

I just finished a few memory organizers and thought

I'd merchandise one of them to give you

an idea of what they look like in use!

So...I glanced around my studio and picked up several

pretty treasures and stuffed them inside the pockets.

It could still hold more but you get the idea :)

This one featured is still available in my Etsy store

but the ticking one is already sold ~ YAAAY!!

Believe it or not, these are getting easier for me to make!!

Practice makes perfect or a least I have finally worked the kinks out ~

I'm sure kinks are to be expected when you make a new pattern :)

A little something new finally!

I finished my new memory organizer!!!

I love this beautiful old fabric so very much
and truthfully I have hoarded it

for years and years!

But it was time to make something wonderful out of it.

You simply can't take this stuff with you so I may as well use it, right?!

Each pocket is pleated so you can shove more goodness

in each and every one!!!!

Just listed in my Etsy store....

And now I will go cry myself to sleep as right after I took this photograph

I dropped my precious
(albeit very old but I didn't care because I loved it so)
camera and it is ruined.

Anyway...

I'm sure I'll figure something out but in the mean time
my eyes will be the size of golf balls
should you see me about town...

Making pretty things ~

I've started working on a special order (months old) and am finally getting it finished!

Remember the memory organizer I made filled with pockets?

Well, I've had a friend wanting one and it was so difficult to make

that I have put it off for months!

But I finally started it and am

I'm in the middle of it now and hoping so much that it

turns out good and that she loves it.

My new lamp and it's rogue shade (I don't care)

and one of my work tables filled with recent

magazine treasures. I still haven't even looked at them all!!

More of the work table...

The sewing machine just waiting for me to get this project finished!!!
