Simple gifts for you...

It's a rainy, October Monday here in Georgia...
OCTOBER!
How in the world did that happen?

I have a few beautiful images
and poems for you today ~
I do hope you love them!!

There is a harmony
In autumn, and a lustre in its sky,
Which through the summer is not heard or seen,
As if it could not be, as if it had not been!

~ Percy Bysshe Shelley ~

Listen!  the wind is rising,
and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings,
now for October eves!

~ Humbert Wolfe ~

Crispy air and azure skies,
High above, a white cloud flies,
Bright as newly fallen snow.
Oh the joy to those who know October!

Colors bright on bush and tree.
Over the weedy swamp, we see
A veil of purple and brown and gold.
Thy beauty words have never told. October!

Scolding sparrows on the lawn,
Rabbits frisking home at dawn,
Pheasants midst the sheaves of grain,
All in harmony acclaim, October!

Brown earth freshly turned by plow,
Apples shine on bended bough,
Bins o'erflowed with oats and wheat,
And satisfaction reigns complete. October!

Radiant joy is everywhere.
Spirits in tune to the spicy air,
Thrill in the glory of each day.
Life's worth living when we say, October!

~ Joseph Pullman Porter ~

I am rich today with autumn's gold,
All that my covetous hands can hold;
Frost-painted leaves and goldenrod,
A goldfinch on a milkweed pod,
Huge golden pumpkins in the field
With heaps of corn from a bounteous yield,
Golden apples heavy on the trees
Rivaling those of Hesperides,
Golden rays of balmy sunshine spread
Over all like butter on warm bread;
And the harvest moon will this night unfold
The streams running full of molten gold.
Oh, who could find a dearth of bliss
With autumn glory such as this!

~ Gladys Harp ~

Wishing you all a wonderful Monday my precious friends,
hugs and love,

On Autumn ~

Come said the wind to
the leaves one day,
Come o're the meadows
and we will play.
Put on your dresses
scarlet and gold,
For summer is gone
and the days grow cold.

~ A Children's Song of the 1880's ~

No Spring nor Summer Beauty hath such grace
As I have seen in one Autumnal face.

~ John Donne ~

The milkweed pods are breaking,
And the bits of silken down
Float off upon the autumn breeze
Across the meadows brown.

~ Cecil Cavendish, The Milkweed
~

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.

~ Albert Camus ~

I've been playing with the blog a little bit....
just rearranging and adding a few things,
taking away others....
I'm in love with fall if you haven't noticed dear friends and
I can't help but revel in it
as it will vanish too quickly.

In my tutorial links area,
I've added a link to my post on favorite supplies
if you'd like to see those things I can't live without ~

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

For the love of fall ~

My heart stirs for fall ~ I've always loved it.
It arrives late here in Georgia but it's wonderful.
My parents live in the north Georgia mountains
and we're looking forward to visiting them in October.
The leaves will be in their full glory ~

Listen ...
The wind is rising
and the air
is wild with leaves.
We have had our summer evenings
now for October eves.

HUMBERT WOLFE

Winter is an etching,
spring a watercolor,
summer an oil painting,
and autumn ...
a mosaic of them all.

STANLEY HOROWITZ

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

GEORGE ELIOT

Autumn's Glow

There is something about autumn
That brings out such earthiness
Gold leaves adorn bushes and trees
Like an artist with a brilliant brush

Once the leaves dry on the trees
Then the wind begins to blow
It’s a special time of year for me
Because I love autumn so

The cold dry air it seems
Prepare the leaves to fall
Mother Nature’s special time
Yes, it’s the best of all

What a dazzling way to end
The year as winter nears
The way leaves let loose
And dropp like nature’s tears

Oh yes, I love those golden days
Dreamy with autumn’s glow
It makes me smile because I do
Love the season of autumn so!

MARILYN LOTT

A couple of sweet photos that I placed

Happy Monday sweet friends ~

"There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October."
Nathaniel Hawthorne

"As autumn returns to earth's northern hemisphere, and day and night are briefly, but perfectly, balanced at the equinox, may we remember anew how fragile life is ---- human life, surely, but also the lives of all other creatures, trees and plants, waters and winds.

May we make wise choices in how and what we harvest, may earth's weather turn kinder, may there be enough food for all creatures, may the diminishing light in our daytime skies be met by an increasing compassion and tolerance in our hearts."
Kathleen Jenks, Autumn Lore

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."

George Eliot

My son Brad brought me in this beautiful leaf the other day and I couldn't keep it all to myself! I had to scan it and share it with you.

We had a wonderful Sunday at home yesterday. Straightening the house up for company ~ my DH's parents and cousin came to have dinner with us. DH loves to cook and made the most amazing Sunday evening dinner. A breakfast meal! Hash brown casserole, sausage, biscuits and last but not least scrambled eggs. It was delicious ~

The weather's been wonderful here in Georgia, wonderfully fall-like. And when my in-laws left last night to head home, we could even see our breath...Chilly!!!

Below I've scanned in some images from a precious old children's coloring book. Well the first bird was colored all over by a young sweetie but I scanned it in and then used my Photoshop Elements to clean it up!! How cool is that? Feel free to take these images and use them. I think they would make BEAUTIFUL embroidery patterns for redwork, don't you?

Maybe today I can finish embellishing my chubby little bird
Wishing you a wonderful Monday ~

xxoo, Dawn
