When I've not been terribly productive over the weekend ~
I tend to look back at my past creativity, photographs and blog posts
to share with you and to inspire me too!

I have an inner desire to be creative ALL OF THE TIME ~
but being a wife, mama and mimi just doesn't afford me that luxury...
and truthfully, I would much rather have those blessings
that keep me from the studio
than to have all the time in the world to make stuff

A few photos that I love that I hope you do to!

Treasures:

I found this photo of my sweet little snow guys I made last year ~
these are from my little snowman tutorial!!!

A gorgeous sunrise ~ I have so loved living here at the farmhouse!

Our tree last year....I hope our tree will be just as pretty this year!!!
One of my little mittens ~

Here's my first little elf shoe too!!!

Happy Thursday precious friends ~
hugs and love,

Dear little fairy shoes...

I've been working on a few pair of
my little fairy shoes!

These are made of leather...one pair is cut from a antique ladies glove ~
Each pair is a little different from the other but
I'm so pleased with how they look!

This is how they started off looking after I put the basic pattern pieces together ~
both pair were blank slates ready for me to embellish them!

And here the are!
They will be sold as pairs, each pair with seam binding hangers so they can be displayed
hanging on a knob or hook...
I still have to add the seam binding to the last pair
so they should end up in my Etsy store sometime today ~

I always love the feeling when I make things...

Wishing you a beautiful Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

On sharing creativity ~

One of the most wonderful things
about sharing your creativity,
as I do with my tutorials,
is that from time to time you get to see what others
have created using your instructions!

I had a sweet customer, Jeanne Marie, purchase
and it wasn't but a few hours later that she emailed me
these wonderful photographs of her little ornaments!!!

I just love the different fabrics she used, different colors,
different stuffings ~ each one is so precious...

We had a couple of sweet visitors this past Sunday...
I just can't believe Murray is already one year old and
Clara is going on FIVE!
We had the best time with them...

Wishing you a wonderful FALL Monday sweet friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn

I just love tiny things!

This is a terrible pic...the lighting is bad...the color awful....
and it was taken with my cell phone BUT.....
I just had to share it with you!!!!
My granddaughter is so precious and loves animals SO much ~
just look at her kissing my little bunny statue!!!!

I also had to show you how tiny these little fairy shoes are.
I've sold one pair to a dear friend but just to give you an idea...here's a photo of the other pair:

I also had to show you how incredibly tiny the magnolia petal fairy shoe ended up being!!!!
It's now on its way to its wonderful owner but just to give you an idea of
how these things shrink.....just look:

Making things from organic materials is an incredible thing...I didn't realize the shrinkage factor but thank goodness I had it a few days as it dried and realized that I'd stuffed way too full with moss!!!
I took out about half of what I'd stuffed in and it worked out wonderfully.
What do they say, "live and learn"....well, I say "create and learn!"

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday dear friends,

Returning to my cobbler ways ~

Thank you so much for your sweet encouragement about
my little magnolia fairy shoe!!! Believe it or not, as it has dried,
it has become smaller....it did sell and I think Kim will love
it even better in it's petite size!

So, even though it was really neat to make the shoe from magnolia petals,
I've always wanted to try making these precious tiny shoes from thin suede!
I've added a little sandwich for the sole of suede, thin cardboard
and then a woven fabric for the insole.

They are filled with wonderful moss, adorned with fragments of nature
and tied together, sold as a pair to be hung on a knob or nail ~
They only measure a mere 3" long from tip to heel and are only 1" wide!

I just listed them in my Etsy....

A light tan pair ~

And a brown/olive pair ~

Tiny, huh??
I love everything fairy and hope these make you smile today :)

Wishing you a wonderful Monday precious friends,
hugs and love,

You are SO not going to believe this...

OK, here's the story.
I picked a gorgeous magnolia bloom from the tree in our front yard yesterday ~
It was glorious!!! And smelled like lemons too!
I placed it in my kitchen so I could enjoy it....

Well, this morning it had already started to turn.
From a beautiful ivory-white to a cream and bruised brown.
Little things were falling from it so I thought I'd just go ahead
and pluck the beautiful petals off and ditch the rest.

Why did I save those petals?
I don't know!
I just love the leathery feel of them I guess.
I laid them on my desk in the studio.....

So I started working on a new baby shoe pincushion....yes I made one!
And I kept glancing at those brownish petals.
Finally, I pulled out a pattern
that I'd made for a sweet fairy shoe way-back-when
and decide to cut it straight out of the magnolia petals!!!

I had to wait just a bit for the petals to dry out for them to take to the glue but
here's what happened:

A teeny fairy shoe!!!!
I still can't even believe it myself ~
I just love it and if it doesn't sell, that's OK...
I have placed it inside of a wonderful old jar so
it will have that "specimen" look to it!!!
I put it in my Etsy if you love it :)

And I finally did finish my baby shoe pincushion ~
I've really missed making these....
and sell the tutorial if you'd rather make one yourself,
but if not, it's HERE too!

And lastly,
I thought I'd make another pincushion
and place it inside one of those old Ball mason jar lids!
I've used wonderful crushed walnut shells inside the cushion
to keep your pins and needles sharp too ~
Again, I've added it to the Etsy shop....

So....I guess I've been a busy girl!!
I love accomplishing stuff. Making stuff. Sharing stuff.
But most of all, I love that you take the time to drop by.....
to see what I'm up to!

Have a beautiful summer weekend precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Simple discoveries ~

You know I'm always on the prowl, right?
Just looking for amazing things to create with,
to stash away for a future project....
or just to enjoy looking at ~ until I start the future project :)

I dropped by Hob Lob today and I couldn't help myself,
I always dig around for the strangest stuff!
I found a bag of leather scraps ~
they always have them, and they always look different....

The first bag I found had THIS amazing piece inside!
Can I please have a sofa
upholstered with this gorgeous crackled leather????
I'm not sure what I'll make from it but, well... at least I have it :)

The other little bag had suede scraps inside.
I have a hankering to make a tiny pair of fairy shoes ~
Don't you think suede will be the perfect thing to use????

They will be really similar to the little elf shoe I made for our Christmas tree....
but much more natural and "of the forest" :)

What is it about teeny tiny shoes??
I can't help it ~
I just love them!

Have an amazing Thursday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

I'm thinkin' I have a thing for shoes....

What do you think?
:)
I finished the tiny pretties for Lisa's class!!!
They are now on their way to Texas ~

No, not shoes for me to wear...
just beautiful little shoes that make me smile ~

Have a wonderful weekend precious friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn
