Making my way back to the studio!

Now that our yard sale is over (and thank goodness for that!!!)
and some of our spring planting is finished,
I finally feel like I can get back to the studio!!!

Tammy was working on a few projects and noticed the beautiful
sunshine, sky and trees through our studio window.
I had to take a pic to share with you!!!!

The curtains are antique and sheer.
We have a string of pretty pearl garland draped on the rod as well.
The weird spiral thing you see is and old
store rack that I love.
I need to put all of my favorite antique baby dresses on it
but haven't gotten around to it quite yet!

And that's a dress form that I've pinned tons of stuff to.
I love looking at pretty things in the studio!!!

And our newest addition to the studio:
WONDERFUL task lighting so us ol' girls can see what we are doing!!!
I just love them. And our poor eyes needed them!

I'm trying my hand at button jewelry!
I've been wanting to do this forever and it seems like the perfect time
to give it a go!!!

So stay tuned sweet friends!
Hopefully I'll have some pretty pieces to put in my Etsy store soon.

Thank you always for visiting me here,
I cherish you all!!!

Hugs and love,
Dawn

Something a little new ~

A friend of mine had a special request.
She has inherited her grandmother's crochet needles
and wanted a "book" similar to my needle books
but larger to keep them in.

So....this is what I made!!!
It measures about 7" wide x about 8" high when it is closed.
It really does look like one of my needle keeps!!!
I so hope she loves it ~

Here's an in-progress photo, with pins and lace all over the place.
I made my own pattern using a few crochet hooks that I had.

And yes, I dipped into my yummy stash of lace!!!
It's so much easier to find what I need now that
I've organized it. I have two suitcases full of these treasures...
you can NEVER have enough!
I always say, you can't make beautiful things
if you don't have beautiful supplies ~

The inside first page. Each page has a flap so the crochet hooks don't slide out.
Thank you Vee of A Haven for Vee for sharing that little tip with me!!

I pulled the hooks out a little bit to hold the flap up so you can see the skinny pockets.

The inside center ~

And back page. It will hold sixteen crochet hooks!!

I ended up taking apart a beautiful pair of vintage clip-on earrings and sewed
them to the front. Since this book was bigger, the adornments needed to be larger too.

So there you have it.
I hope she loves it!!!

Thank you always for stopping by to see what I'm up to dear friends ~

Wishing you a great Tuesday!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Transforming the ordinary ~

THAT is what thrills my soul!!!
Taking something common...something ordinary
and turning it into something BEAUTIFUL!
Simply by adding special elements,
wonderful touches
and a little TLC.

I wanted to share with you a sweet bottle I created for my friend Mary ~

I used a beautiful old earring I've been hoarding for years
to adorn the neck ~

I used a beautiful marble-looking cabinet knob with a cork
I screwed to the bottom to serve as the stopper.

And I had to use my very favorite label image...it's so gorgeous to me.

And with just the right amount of antique lace...and crinkled seam binding,
it all comes together!

Speaking of seam binding, I believe I've discovered my new favorite shade...
CROQUETTE BEIGE.
Check it out at Zipperstop...tell Jeff I sent you too!

It has the look of aged paper to me...
my photos are not a true representation but trust me,
it. is. wonderful!

Making things pretty always feels so good ~

Happy Tuesday precious friends!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Little crinkled goodies!

They are simple little sacks...filled completely with lavender buds ~
I don't know why, but I love the sack versions of my sachets.

Remember this muslin fabric that I washed and it got terribly twisted in my
old washer that has that thing in the center???

Then I threw it in the dryer, still twisted because I'm weird like that ~
I was just curious as to what it would look like!
Here's the result below...

Well, using some of the crinkled muslin, I made a few new lavender sachets ~
Of course using seam binding to cinch the tops and
lastly, adding a button or earring to finish them off.

These sweet little sacks are now listed in my Etsy shop!!

Thank you always for stopping by to see me ~

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

It just doesn't take much....

to make this girl happy!

I mean it.
A few trinkets...a few busted jewelry pieces....
a jacked up jewelry box...
and the thing that REALLY makes me smile???
Getting these goodies on the cheap!
I will not pay big for my art supplies ~
they have to be reasonable or I will simply pass them by.

I had to show you my tiny little haul I recently found.
Tiny, yes...but wonderful too!
I found a small, cream velvet jewelry box ~ and I'm in LOVE with it!
Just look....

See the sweet inside?
I've got to transform this wonderful box ~
but right now, I'm lovin' it just the way it is.

A little gathering of Mother of Pearl buckles ~ I'm always looking for these!

And a small, pale pink coin purse!
You can't even tell by my photos the pale pinkness of it :)

Another wonderful find?
Lisa turned me onto these ~
in the bakery dept of our grocery store,
you know where you get your own muffins?
I found these gorgeous, slightly waxed natural sheets of paper....
I just had to grab a few -
(Be sure you buy some muffins too!!!)
I still don't have a clue what I'll do with them but who cares?
I love them!

I love the small things.
Small, wonderful, cast-off treasures.
It doesn't take much to make me happy at all!!!!

Have a beautiful Friday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Beautiful things ~

I just love these prints.
Sweet Jill of Feathers and Flight
offered them on her beautiful blog....
I so need to make something with these!

If you've not seen these little beauties yet ~ I just had to show them off here!
Lisa of Tarnished and Tattered made these winter ballet slippers
and of course sold them IMMEDIATELY in her Etsy shop!!
She's going to be teaching a class for Paper Cowgirl
sharing how to create these beautiful slippers.....
wouldn't a pair be the most wonderful gift to give someone you love?

I think I found this on Pinterest....I love it.

Don't you just love this gorgeous bracelet??!!

I have to share a wonderful jewelry artist with you!
Christine of Christine Marie Studio....
Her Etsy store is chock FULL of handmade pieces
that have that gorgeous vintage feel we all love ~
Please stop by and take a look if you can!

I've still been working on the house, hanging tons of prints and other items...
It's SO evident we used to own an antiques store!!!
I'm hoping to get back into the studio soon :)

Wishing you a beautiful Tuesday sweet friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn
