The creative process ~

I've been working a few new goodies...

one for a friend and one to sell!

Two sweet flea bags, embellished with stuff I love ~

gorgeous old lace, vintage buttons and a random watch face of course!

The process is not as easy as you think.

I have to go through ALL of my lace...selecting JUST the right pieces.

I lay everything on the bag, squinting my eyes...and I tilt my head and study it.

Just to see if this lace or that button is the right choice to make it wonderful!

I try to keep a good stash of things to create with because I love having choices!

Here are my two purses!

One is for a friend...but I have another just placed in my Etsy shop too!

This is the one that I've listed in my Etsy...

perfect to take while you're out antiquing and shopping for goodies!!!

Sweet finds and making a few new things!

A couple of the boys gave me Hobby Lobby gift certificates for Mother's Day!

Well...I lasted until Tuesday and had to bust loose and see what

treasures I could find (with my coupon in tow of course!)

I found a sweet little stash of goodies too!

A box of gorgeous cards...a photo box that was half off...

And Tim Holtz photo frames!!! How cool is that??

A few bezels as I have a new bottle of Ice Resin

and want to create some simple necklaces...

I even found some teeny, tiny ball chains to hold them too!

The moss is for the new ferns for my front porch,

I love to cover the dirt to retain the moisture ~

And I always need the natural colored thread...and needles!

And what have I been working on?

Slowly but surely I've been working on two new flea bags!

One is for a friend but one will hit the Etsy shop soon...

I can only hope they turn out as good as my last two in the pic below!

The river of creativity...

Sometimes the river flows at full force ~

rapidly moving...overflowing the banks even!

But sometimes, it's a simple trickle and guess what,

there's just nothing, nothing at all you can do about it.

This life we live takes over and sometimes it just doesn't happen

how we planned it out in our heads!

Anyway ~ I did finally finish these two sweet "flea bags"!

One is already sold but the other has been listed

in my Etsy shop ~

I've used gorgeous old wedding lace, more vintage laces and doilies...

antique buttons and even a vintage watch face with tiny pearls!

They are such a wonderful size, perfect for slinging across your chest

and hitting the antique market!!!!

Simple goodness...in progress!

I took a trip to Hob Lob the other day and

was thrilled that they had their Simplicity patterns on sale for .99 cents!!!

I am absolutely enthralled with small purses.

I just love them!!

I look at little girl patterns because sometimes

they will also feature a purse pattern.

Anyway, this wasn't a little girl purse but a small purse pattern that I ended up getting.

So...I'm in the process of working on a few!

The tan and beige ticking will be the lining and the best thing?

It has a wonderful flap that I can embellish with yummy old goodness!!!

A few new goodies from the studio ~

I finally decided since baby Murray

must be so comfy and cozy

where he is...

I should just get into the studio and make something!

Here's what I managed to get accomplished ~

three lavender sachets and

one of my small flea bags....

you would not believe how long it takes me

to choose just the right lace for each item!

I just love giving these wonderful old snippets of lace a new life ~

even though they are torn, tattered and stained,

they can be admired and appreciated again!

To embellish ~

When something sits around in my Etsy shop for awhile

I start taking a second look at it ~

What can I do to change this item....

why isn't it selling?

Should I add a little something

maybe to make it better?

Well, that's exactly what I did!

I had a little flea bag that I should have embellished more

when I created it but hurried to get it listed instead ~

Now I love it!!

Just by added pieces of gorgeous antique lace...and

always beautiful vintage buttons,

this sweet flea bag has so much more character now!

And these sachets were pretty but needed a little something else....

I've added a pretty seam binding bow and antique button ~

just a tiny bit more embellishment to make them special!

Don't you like them better now with that something extra special?

I didn't get around to making anything new this past weekend,

but simply added a few adornments to these handmade goodies ~

We had a wonderful dinner Saturday evening here at the farmhouse

with Brent, Emily, Clara and Chase ~

We all sat by the fire and enjoyed being together....

Noah's been my Christmas elf this year

and has wrapped each and every gift

that sits under our tree!

I used to want everything to be so perfect about our Christmas....

the tree, the gift wrapping, the decorating....absolutely everything!

But I think I've finally realized that it just doesn't matter ~

especially to everyone else (I was the only one in a tizzy!)

I'm just thankful for my sweet Noah's help :)

and that we have a few gifts under the tree

to share with our family.
