Almost here . . .

It's funny how fast time flies. I remember as young as four years old, my mama and daddy... and us having the most wonderful Christmas' with my grandparents...my little brothers being born...moving to the greatest neighborhood ever....meeting my future husband and so many other sweet neighborhood kids....and in the blink of an eye ~ I'm a married woman myself! At the tender age of 19 and my husband 21. My parents became grandparents at just 42 years old!!! I wanted babies for as long as I could remember so, that was definitely the plan ~

But back to my sweet mom and dad! I think I got a little carried away there...it's finally almost here. It's their fiftieth wedding anniversary!!! Friday is really their anniversary but we are having the party Saturday so friends and family can all be there. It will be a simple gathering.
A giant cake and plenty of wonderful finger foods
but the best thing of all, will be seeing so many sweet people,
friends and family, that love my mom and dad.

I finished the cake topper and wanted to share it with you ~

A little styrofoam, some beautiful trim and of course my fave glue

Yes, I'm such a goob, I bought CLOCK numbers for their topper!

I couldn't find any other gold ones though and these worked out great ~

My mom and dad love music and listened to it all the time
while we were growing up...

I have tons of memories and so many songs remind me of my

childhood because of this!

Dreaming of crisp, cool breezes ~

I can't help myself!

Here in Georgia our summers are terribly LONG....

humid and oh-so-hot and I'm already tired of it!

So I'm finding myself dreaming of fall and the crisp,

cool breezes that come with it.

I have a little WIP to share with you ~

you know how I love book covers as a foundation for my collages....

well this one began on the back cover of an old scrapbook!

And I'm so in love with tulle right now,
it makes a gorgeous layer in my collages ~

I have more elements I want to add but I thought I'd give you a little peek!

I love using these old forgotten pieces in my art...

I'm still working on mom and dad's invitations.

I don't know why I had to make them with so many steps

but I guess I can't help myself....

I wish they were a little more shiny but still, isn't it neat?

A legacy of love....

As I work on the invitations for my parent's anniversary party,
I can't help but think of their lifetime of love together.
They married young, each a mere 20 years old....
I was born a year later ~
and both of my brothers
were born a couple years after that.

We never had an abundance of money...
or a big fancy house...
but what we DID have and what I DO know
is that we had parents that loved one another ~
through good times and bad.

Now that I'm older I truly realize what a blessing
this was.

They gave us a legacy of love.....

OK, don't laugh, here I am pregnant with Noah...
it is Christmas eve and he was born six days later!!
(look how huge I was...almost a big as my hair!)

I love you mom and dad.....

Rambling thoughts....

A little of this, a little of that...

It seems that's what my days consist of lately ~
nothing substantial but wanting to accomplish something :)
Do you have times like that?
My mind makes it even worse...
is feeling bad doing one thing because
I really should be doing another ~ crazy talk, I know.

I removed the keys from a broken typewriter I had....
now to decide what I want to do with these wonderful gems ~
Don't you love the graphics on them?

And I'm also working on the invitations for my Mom and Dad's
50th Wedding Anniversary party next month ~
I wanted to make them myself but now that the number
of invitations has grown to over 75,
what was I thinkin'????

I've always loved this photo of them.
Cutting the cake ~ both smiling so sweetly....
Excited about their life ahead.
