There are angels among us ~

I know that many of my followers here on my blog
are also friends of mine on Facebook.
This is our precious angel Ellie.
We lost her last week and words cannot describe
how much we all miss her!!!

I've never lost a pup before and it's like losing a true member of the family.
We miss her routine, her love and of course simply her.

I hate to start a post off with such sad news but this blog
is a journal of my life. She was such a huge part of it!!!
We will see you again sweet girl.

While things were so very sad here, with Ellie's declining health,
I received a package from a friend.

Linda has purchased several things from me in the past and I simply LOVE her taste!!!
Well, not because she bought MY wares
but she has shows and sells amazing antiques and finds.

We are friends on Facebook and her family hunts turkeys. Her children and grandchildren.
She posted that they had several turkeys and she had a TON of feathers.
Linda wanted to know if any of her friends wanted any.
OF COURSE I DID!!!

I love using feathers in my artwork!!!
She wanted my address and said she'd send some my way.

Well, my friends.
THIS is what she sent me!!!!!!!!!!

(Tons of photos to come, sorry)

Turkey feathers!!!!

Then there is THIS.

AND THIS!!!

Velvet pieces and luscious fabrics!

I literally cried.
My heart was so heavy and sad.
But to see this sweet friend send me so many elements to create with
touched my heart so much.
I thanked her immensely and she told me that she just had a feeling
that I needed a box of happy not even knowing about Ellie!!!

Thank you so much precious Linda, you truly are an angel.
Every little thing is so, so appreciated!
You've inspired me to get busy and make something beautiful!!!
If you want to look her up (she's in Arkansas) and follow her on FB,
here is her FACEBOOK PAGE.
You will LOVE her taste!!!

Thank you always, always for checking in to see what I'm up to.

Hugs and love,
Dawn

Why does everything look prettier under glass?

Whew!! I've been trying to post for the last 12 hours!
I wanted to share my latest little creations ~
A few decorated bottle brush trees....

This first one is housed inside of a tiny vintage baby food jar!
I love the jar...and now it has a new purpose ~
I think it stands about three inches tall!

I'm running out of vintage jars but had these beautiful tiny cloches and creamware saucers
and knew the trees would be pretty displayed with them ~
here's how my other two turned out:
They each stand about 7" tall including the glass cloche!

And here's the last one:

These were all special orders...
so on to a few more needle books that are orders as well!

I hope you are having a great Friday sweet friends,
and please know how thankful I am for you!!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Don't forget about my free tutorials! Plus my little WIP...

If you visit my blog regularly, you know I have my little tutorial shop
but you may not have noticed in my left side bar
I have a few free tutorials I've offered in the years past ~
They're easy and FUN!!

You can find my rag ball ornament tutorial HERE ~

And my mitten ornament tutorial HERE ~

OK. Seems I'm always trying to figure out
what Blogger is up to with our images....
I like clicking on images and saving them at their "real" size...
and sometimes it's much larger that what you see!

Here's what I've figured out now:
click on an image ~
you will be taken to a "slide show" type of window.
Then RIGHT click on the image and select "VIEW IMAGE" with a left click.
A new window will open.
You may even be able the left click the image again
and it will appear even larger!

THEN you can RIGHT click it and select SAVE IMAGE
and save it to your own computer.....
give it a try ~ I hope it works for you :)

I played with my bottle brush trees again!
I'm not quite finished with them...but I had to show you what
I've finished so far ~ this one is teeny tiny and will be
housed inside a vintage baby food jar!
The tree itself stands only about two inches tall ~

I don't even have the top screwed on all the way but you get
the idea of how it will look under glass. I still want to
add a few pieces of seam binding garland that has been split
and ringlet curled....

What do you think about these blue trees?
They are really beautiful in person!

My decorations?
Broken strands of vintage pearls...I just love them!

Thank you always for stopping by to see me!!
I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Sweet littles ~

It's funny how sometimes when you're creating,
it flows so freely!
But sometimes, it's not like that ~
you're not happy with the way something is turning out....
But I will work with it and change things until FINALLY,
it pleases me.

This was one of those things....
but now I'm so in love with it!
Is it bad to love something you make?
I think not ~
maybe,
just maybe
someone else will love it too?

This is my very first bottle brush tree that I've bleached,
painted, aged, glittered and decorated.
And then I finally found the perfect old jar from my collection
to protect it!

Now in my Etsy store....

My other sweet "little" would be our precious granddaughter Clara ~
Just look at a few of the photos her mama took while she was
playing in the park.....

Can you see the tiny specks of nail polish left on a few of her small fingers?

She's an absolute ham you know....

Ahhh...the joy of being two and a half ~

If we could only remember that pure joy and bottle it!!!

Thank you so much for visiting me here ~
I treasure your comments!!

Have a beautiful Tuesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn
