A little tweaking and some goodies!

I ran across this pretty image a few days ago and thought of you ~
maybe you can use it on one of your Valentines!
I share it most every year.
I can't remember where I found it though...

Remember when I planted the fresh ivy plants about a week ago in these two planters?
Well, they started dying one. by. one. So guess what?
I took them straight back to the store. I had my receipt so back they went.
So after I left Lowe's, I headed to Hobby Lobby hoping they had some
realistic looking greenery on sale.
And guess what, they did!!!

This is actually a garland with wonderful, long tendrils hanging down.
It's pretty long too but it was kind of pricey at 39.99 but
at 50% off, 20 bucks is much better!
I love the color and the textural look of it plus
look how great it looks in my planters!!!

I simply used a pair of wire cutters and cut the garland in half then
just swirled it around the base of my twigs, so easy.

It's a teeny little dining room but I love it.

My place mats are too big for my table but I'll trim them down soon.
They're just vinyl but I love that they have a woven basket look.

I've been busy on the computer today too!
I added a few vintage treasures to my Etsy store.
These pretty dessert plates used to hang in our bedroom.
I think they are beautiful as wall art.

Love these. I call them "giving hands".

A crusty vintage padlock...

A sweet pair of child's shoe forms!

Just a few little pretties!!!
I need to dig around here to find more treasures to let go of ~

Thank you so much for stopping to see me ~

Hugs and love,
Dawn

Amazing mail blessings!!!

I just have to show you the most wonderful package that I received in the mail yesterday!!! First let me tell you what happened. A sweet woman, Ann, contacted me about a week ago. She has an antique store in Texas, was cleaning up and cleaning out and wanted to know if she could send me a package of things that she thought that I could use in my artwork. If not, she was going to donate them to the thrift store. I thanked her so much for thinking of me and could I please pay the postage to Georgia? No, she replied, she is blessed all the time and wanted to do this for me . . . Well, her package arrived on my doorstep and I was AMAZED at the contents!!

Dear Ann, please know that you made my eyes fill with tears as I pulled each and every little treasure from your package. How thoughtful, generous and kind you are!!! It was so full of things that I would have purchased if I'd been shopping.

Thank you so, so very much!!

Kindness is the most touching thing. It never ceases to amaze me how it makes you feel when someone is kind to you ~ Thank you so very much, dear Ann . . . I must get busy creating!!!

I hope I didn't post too many photos but I wanted you to enjoy everything.

I'm working on a neat project for Christmas to be published!! I wish I could share but I have to wait :( I will be adding some new items to my Etsy in the next couple of days, chalkboards and handpainted signs that I did! Hope you have a great Friday and if you haven't entered my 500th Post Giveaway, please click the button in the upper right hand corner of my blog!!

Treasures don't have to cost a fortune ~

I found a few more treasures when I was out shopping yesterday ~ Do you love doll clothes? I don't know why but they are so adorable to me! Especially white, cream and pastel colored items. I always pick them up when the price is good and these were only about 2.00 for all four pieces! I want to create something with them but haven't quite gotten to that yet.

The linens are old and need a nice, gentle wash but look at the detail on the doily in the center! Just beautiful and a .50 each I knew these wonderful old linens, stains and all, were coming home with me!

This old pillowcase is stained quite bad but the stitchery is so pretty ~ and look at the pink birds!! I've used these edges as flaps on pillows that I've sewn before. Or maybe transformed into a lavender sachet?

I ended up at Target after my little antique shopping spree and look what was on the clearance shelf?! The same notecards that I featured on my blog a few months back! I think they are wonderful so I grabbed a package of these. They were around 4.50 or 4.98 a package ~

Also on clearance, these three ring binders. Aren't they so pretty? I'm not sure what I'm putting in them but for only 2.50 each they were another must have!

One other little bag I bought at the antique store contained a broken strand of pearls and a broken pin ~ BEAUTIFUL! Why are the broken, old objects so wonderful? Because they have potential and possiblity. They could be transformed into a simple cluster on a button bottle or an adornment on an assemblage. Turning a broken, forgotten trinket into a beautiful centerpiece truly brings me bliss!

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday ~ xxoo, Dawn

Newish thrift bear goes vintage & well-loved!

To start, I get my little scissors and begin slightly clipping away at the fur where she would be rubbed and loved. The edges of the ears, the pads of the paws, top of the head, etc. Her belly and back will be under her dress.

I had to clean this little mess up before moving on to the next step!

I had a tattered old doll's dress that needed a mend so I purposely stitched the hole closed with a darker thread and a little messy.

I put her little dress on and it fit really well!

I found a piece of lace to wrap around her head. If it's soft lace or fabric you could tie in a knot but I chose to sew it together and added a sweet old button.

I added a vintage button to the front of her dress.

Now I didn't picture this but at this point I took her to the kitchen and put her in my sink and sprayed my solution of instant coffee on her and her dress, flipping and turning until everything was covered. I took her to the dryer and let her tumble for a few minutes and it did dry her really well, but I did notice that it also curled her hair just a bit! You could lay it outside in the sun to dry and the fur wouldn't be affected that way.

I used a piece of an old necklace for a braclet for her ~

Tied lace on the other arm and used an old watch face, a small black seed bead and sewed it all together to resemble a little bear watch!

Lastly I added a little handmade tag of a vintage little girl to her button. This little bear loves her owner!

And that's about it! You can create you own version using what you have on hand, no need to go out and buy a ton of supplies. Just gathered items makes her sweet!

*******************************************

This is one of our crazy cats, Thelma! She thinks that she can go most anywhere and she does! I was sitting in the chair below her and happened to have my camera ~ she was on the move though and soon jumped down! She's a Devon Rex breed, kinda strange but really cool!
