Aren't you so excited about this new year???

I sure am!! I can't quite put my finger on it but know that I have a good feeling about it. Our frame of mind has such an impact on our day, month and year, doesn't it?? I'm no psychologist (I'm not even sure if I spelled it right! :) but I do know that our minds are quite powerful! That is just a little food for thought this Saturday morning......

My little quilt is flying it's way to California now!!! Thank you so much for your sweet compliments...I do hope that Jenny is pleased ~

If you've been thinking about sending something to Somerset to be published...I want you to go ahead and do it!!! I would LOVE to see you on the pages.....make a few things as a matter of fact ~ you're all so wonderfully creative!

The other day Emily and I stopped by one of my favorite thrift stores just to see if there was anything that we couldn't live without. Don't you just love the prices? Well, I bought another big 2.00 worth of old sewing patterns to use as tissue in my packaging (they are only .10 each!) and then I headed to the books. I love old books, the older the better. Emily loves them too! I did find one to alter (I've been wanting to do that so bad!).

Well, we were about to leave and stopped by the baby clothes area and you. will. not. believe!! the precious clothes we found for Clara!!!! Each one was only .99 each and I spent a big whopping 10.00 for the whole shebang! We came home and I washed the little things and dried them....and then laid them all out for us to admire ~

They all look brand new! But they are so tiny and probably were only worn for a nano second! I just had to show you ~ so don't forget to look for treasures at the thrift store!

Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing weekend sweet friends!
xxoo, Dawn

Everyone is always amazed when I tell them most of my daughter's clothes come from garage sales or thrift stores. She has some super-cute things that I have paid very little for. I just can't imagine paying full price. The clothes you found are just precious!

Thanks for a wonderful post! You are so right, attitude is everything..it's a tough lesson that I try to impress upon my teenagers almost everyday. I love the baby clothes!! I used to look at yard sales/thrift stores for preemie clothes for the babies at work in the NICU. The babies looked so comfortable and loved in "real" clothes. I have to admit, a few little outfits never made it to the hospital...they're waiting in my "hopeful" chest for my first grandbaby to be. I have clothes, diapers, a cradle, just need the baby. My girls look at me like I'm crazy, but one day they'll be as happy about my stash as I am:) Happy New Year!

Dawn,

I do have a good feeling about this new year too, especially after the great news we got yesterday ~ in September we will be blessed with our second grandbaby!!!! I am so excited!

The little clothes are just darling! I can't wait to see your Clara filling them out!

Have a super Saturday!

No new grand babies for us (for now anyway)but sometimes when I'm thrifting, I just want to buy some of the cute teensy things, wash them in some sweet smelling detergent and sniff the living daylights out of them! I think I may be one of those "crazy ladies" who wants a baby doll just so I can dress it us and smell the fresh, sweet clothes!(and of course, the smell of 'new-doll-heads' I love so much!)
Have a marvelous Saturday and yes, I too, think this is going to be one GREAT year!

Your blog always makes my day, and today's entry was ahhh-inspiring. Quite sometime ago I read "first in mind, then in reality." Oh, yes, attitude is everything, and if the situation seems unsavory, the question is not "why me?" but rather, "what am I to learn from this?" Thanks for enriching my day, and I'm looking forward to seeing Little Ms. Clara modeling her new wardrobe.

Dawn!
I love baby clothes too - and I'm not even expecting:-) My favorite are the little tiny with T-shirts that look like little wrap-arounds with snaps.
Which thrift store if your favorite? I'd love to check it out.

What great finds! My daughter was 19 and still living at home when she had her first and with her now expecting number four just six years later I couldn't afford to buy as much as I do if I didn't thrift. I found a really great kids resale shop that carries the cutest stuff. They grow so fast it just makes sense to buy second hand.

Oh my friend, you have MUCH to look forward to this year -- it holds so much promise and joy for you!!

As for recycled baby clothing -- YES!! It has been worn and loved for a nano-second and is well worth the purchase...your Clara is going to look adorable!

The little baby clothes are so cute and little Clara will look sweet even if it is for only a nano second! I used to shop for clothes for my son until he was old enough to not be able to find things that were in good condition any more. You are such an inspiration and you always have such a wonderful outlook on things!

Hi Dawn! thanks for stopping by my blog (makes me feel like I'm in the BIG league! LOL) I re-did the angels by printing them directly on the fabric- they're for a valentine swap- but I'm going to keep the others and PLAY!!

hugs- Lee

Love the little sweet clothes. I think thrift shops are the best!!! I also use pattern tissue and I get mixed reactions from people. Some say in a blah voice, "Oh,what is this... is this pattern tissue?" (you can read from their voice that they do not understand the charm and recycling fact either. Others say with excitement, "Oh my gosh! Tissue from patterns. Why didn't I think of doing that?!" (you know they are on the same page as you.)

Found you through Vee! Lovely blog you have. My grandson was born in December and reeived so many 0-3 month old outfits at the pre-birth baby shower and none of them fit him, as he was very small and NB size was big on him! I hope he'll get soem use out of them before winter is over.

Baby clothes are so cute that it is hard not to overbuy, so I think you had the right idea to look in a thrift store, and just look at those beautful outfits you found!

It has been hard not to buy baby things...Kristie and Cory lost their baby at the 19th week. I am a yard sale or thrift store person. It's all good. I have bought some lovely clothes for my Grandkids over the past years.
I will keep my eye out for something special....ya never know what you'll find.
so much love in 2009
Mary
