Make your own magic ~

Sometimes it's easy to get caught up it what the "big" blogs are doing,
where these bloggers are going,
and even how many comments they receive.
And don't get me wrong, these blogs are AMAZINGLY inspirational....
but my point is, try not compare yourself to them.
Chances are they've been blogging a very long time
and that affords them many opportunities.
I've been blogging almost three years and feel so humbled by other blogs.

It's so easy to feel insecure this day and time in ANY genre....
even blogging. But what I wanted to stress in this post
is to make your own magic!!

Do what you love doing, take pictures of what your up to,
blog about it and ENJOY every minute of it!!!

Visit other bloggers, read their posts and
genuinely take an interest in their lives....
and they, in turn, will visit you as well.

It's such a give and take place, this land of blog......
the more you give.....it seems the more you receive.

Dawn,
You are a wise woman! I totally agree about doing your own thing and not worrying about what the others are doing......be your own person! It's human nature to compare, but by focusing on your own business and passion you will succeed.
Thanks for the reminder.......

Dawn, I started blogging in February and it has been a slow process, but full of unexpected benefits. It is truly a situation where you should "enjoy the journey", because where is the destination? Nobody really knows! I'm trying to leave a couple comments every day for other bloggers I appreciate, because it means so much when others take the time to comment on mine.

Have a wonderful day,
Mitzi Curi

Hi Dawn...in this world of women's competitive nature we sometimes forget why we do what we do...and that is because WE love it....not because we think someone else will...it's nice if they do, however, nicer if they are kindred spirits and just love what we also love....my mantra has always been "bloom where you are planted"....also meaning.."love who you are" and don't try to become someone else for everybody else.....you are indeed a sweetie...xojana

Dawn,

I love how you express making your own magic. It is true, one can get caught up in the popularity contest if one is not careful. I keep my perspective by remembering that ultimately everything I do is for an audience of one, the Lord, and if others show up to enjoy my blog, well, that is just icing on the cake!

You always have just the right thing to say ~ thank you for being such an encouragement. Sometimes I wonder if anyone reads my blog ~ but it really doesn't matter because I so enjoy doing it for myself. I just forgot for a moment that I felt that way - thanks for reminding me!

Hi Dawn! I've read your blog now for a couple years. I've been a big blog reader for at least that long, always feeling not quite part of the "blog world". I finally took the plunge and started my own blog, and this post couldn't mean more to me right now. It is hard not to sometimes compare ourselves to all that is bigger and better - blogging included! I wondered by starting my blog what I would have to offer that would be of the slightest interest to anyone out there. But so far, I'm just enjoying the process, trying not to worry that I may have only a few readers . . . if any at all. Thanks for the little poke of inspiration. Sorry to leave such a long post! ;o)

Thanks Dawn for the encourgement to just continue to blog for the love of it not for just the followers. I think I probably do compare the number of followers I have to others. But then I remember that when I started to blog it was to keep memories of a holiday we were on, then to record the short life of our first Grandson, and now to just have some fun. So thank you as I have evolved and gone through changes so has my blogging.

Dawn, just a quick note of thanks. I have been wanting to start a blog for months. Your blogging encouragement and your how-to posts really helped. I am still just a tiny fish in a really big pond, I have SO much to learn in setting up my blog but I am finally out here.

Thanks again!

Dawn, thank you so much for the mention in your blog. Like many of the comments above, I also feel blessed to have discovered blogs and all of these wonderful women. You are right, you have to be yourself and do your own thing. I myself was initially intimidated, but you helped me get over it. Dawn, you are the greatest. Big hug from NJ.

Dear precious friend, I went through the same feelings that you described about comparing myself to others blogs, feeling lonely within my own blogworld, feeling disappointed that no one was reading what I wrote. That is when I called upon you, my first blogger buddy and you encouraged me to go on. It honestly was hard for me to continue to post as I was so self focused. But then I made myself go on and on posting. Now from your encouragements, my stubborness, and the Lords' help I have fallen in love with each individual that I have met. I am now looking at posts as REAL people, just like me wanting to share the gifts that the Lord has given us. Thank you for this post. It reminded me of not long ago and how I consider the things that the Lord has done. Blessings, dear child of God, you truly bless me just by being YOU. (No pressure...lol) Sharon

Dawn, Your post is an inspiration to many of us. So often, we DO start comparing ourselves to others. But we have to keep everything in perspective and realize that we shouldn't feel pressured into feeling that we don't "measure up" if we don't have the number of comments or followers that others have. Some of the most inspirational or best idea blogs that I have found are not "big" blogs.

It's not always an easy task- we all want to experience some self-worth and compensatory feedback from others. But we should do what we're doing, first and foremost, for ourselves. And if we ARE ourselves, our light will shine through; and who really knows how much we can affect others through that?
Thanks for allowing me to ramble....
:-) Sue

You are so right! It is so easy to get caught up in it "ALL" & your advise to follow your heart & be true to yourself is right on the money. Of course it would be you who can just make it all seem OK. Thank you for all you do for all of us. It's no wonder you are so loved & thought of in Blogland!

I love what you said about not comparing yourself to others. Sometimes I want to just put the magazines up and not look at the computer. It's easy to get lost in it all. Of course I can't do that (ha, ha) so I will try to just stay true to me. Lisa

Hi Dawn, such words of wisdom. I write for me and I blog for me and if others enjoy it then I'm thrilled. I cherish each and every message left me and count all these amazing ladies my friends. But I am always surprised when I do get comments. Does that surprise ever go away? I started the blog in Feb. and now it has become one of my biggest joys. Sometimes I feel that I should be posting more often, but I just can't right now in my life, so I just plod along enjoying every minute of it all. Thank you for such good advice to all of us newbies.
Hugs,
June
I'm off to make new friends, thanks for the links.
