Playing a little with design ~

I worked most of the afternoon yesterday on my very own label design!
As I fumble through Photoshop :)
my sweet son Brent gives me tips and I try to
learn one technique at a time.
Layers, opacity, etc. it's all a lot to absorb.

I used to be a graphic designer by trade
but just barely dipped my toes
into Photoshop before I "retired" as my sweet DH calls it :)

I've sold a few packages of my shea butter egg shaped soap
this past week and
knew I needed to get the design for the label finished
so it would be consistent
on all the packages.....

The new label is really quite simple and
it will look beautiful with the robin's egg blue soap too ~
and of course I HAD to use seam binding with it,
I just love crinkled seam binding!!!

These photos were taken at night....
I'll try to take a few more in the daylight ~
If you need a package or two...

Our Noah put the tree up the other night and started adding
ornaments then had to stop at bedtime ~
I've got to get busy and finish it....
it's already beautiful to me though.
I guess it's beginning to look like Christmas around here!

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Dawn, learning PhotoShop...or PSP...can make your head hurt...and eyes cross..but it is wondeful when you get what you want and the look you need.
I have never made labels....your's look very professional.
GOOD LUCK with your sales and your future "lessons" from your son. They think we are a bit weird that we don't just "know" this stuff, they grew up with. Our grandson just laughs at me all the time, when I ask him questions. I have YET to learn how to download filters, etc. Just so afraid I am going to "jam up the works"...if I do something wrong.

I SO need to learn that....but he does it SO fast that it almost counterproductive for me to try to learn it.

Dawn, I think you are really coming along with your Photoshop work, having a hand there to help is a blessing.

Have to say, I held my breath looking at your tree, even though there are just a few ornaments I took a pause...the beaded icicles and nesting glass bells are exactly like mine. They were part of my grandmother's possessions and it was one of the few things I asked for at her passing many years ago. Each Christmas it brings back such memories to open up the ornament box and remember all the wonderful years my family spent setting up her house for Christmas.

Dawn,
The labels turned out awesome! The bird is perfect, he always needs to be in there somewhere. Perfect icon for you. Tell Noah good job. At least he didn't shove 10 orniments onto one branch. Lisa
PS Congrats on pulling out yet another!

The egg soap and presentation are lovely! So glad that you retired before learning Photoshop. You might have gone in an entirely different direction and then I would have missed you. Awful thought!

Hi dearest Dawn,
your labels look delghtful, what a fantastic design job you have done. I am sure that these gorgeously pretty soaps fly out of your store to find new homes when they are bought as Christmas gifts. The tree looks wonerful - Noah you have done a fantastic job. We'll be putting up our tree very soon too. As always it's such a treat to come to the Feathered Nest Dawn. Thank you for sharing and for always making it such a warm and inspiring place to visit.

Dawn, those labels are beautiful. I used to be a wiz at printshop and could do all sorts of wonderful things. I now need to learn photoshop and remind myself I was awesome once, I can be again! LOL
