Still sprucing up the cottage ~

I've been wanting to do this FOREVER it seems like!! I found this piece of old molding in a junk store with three hooks and a big ol' nail. After adding a couple more hooks and securing it into the studs it was ready for decorating! I love that it's so out of the ordinary looking ~

Sorry the photographs are so dark, it was another late night decorating session!!

Having cathedral ceilings is so cool because you can hang things clear up to the sky! This mirror used to be hanging over the buffet but now has a new home ~

I found the most wonderful magazine today at the grocery store, it's the new issue of Creative Home. It's been a little too modern for me lately but this issue has romance as it's theme and has some beautiful features!

Hoping you have a great Thursday sweet friends!

xxoo, Dawn

Dawn, the "old piece of molding" you found with the hooks is a true Southern treasure - an old tobacco drying rack! We have one too. Although they do grow tobacco up here in PA also.

I love that mirror and the light reflecting in it is such a romantic look! I'll have to look for the Creative Home magazine. I used to love that magazine but I haven't bought it for awhile!

How cozy! It looks like it should be in a magazine. I need to do some redecorating myself.

Dawn , your pics are delightful -, warm and cozy , inviting , so lovely vintage . As for your blog
banner , both are delightful -
but the sweet nest with the feathers circling and enfolding the most important and fragile thing -- just as you enfold your home nest with love and grace speaks to me so much . Thank you for this glimpse of your special nest --
Blessings , Kathy

Your creative streaks are wonderful! Too bad you can't bottle it and sell them because I need a good dose. Love your new creation. It does look unusual, deliciously so!

I really think the mirror looks perfect above that bookshelf, Dawn, and I like the idea of using the molding to hang so many things at different levels like that. You have such a knack for displaying many things, without it looking cluttered. Your home is beautiful, and looks welcoming.

Hi Dawn
I haven't been by to visit you in a long time and I had forgotten how beautiful your house is. I love it.
Also the little book you showed in an earlier post is just precious. I am going to make one when I canfind the time.
Also love the music by Thomas Newman. I've never heard him before.

LOVE the molding picture hanger! This is so weird, I think we have the same sofa! Is yours a deep green? My back cushions look a bit different but the rest looks the same.

I have been sprucing up my nest a bit too due to your inspiring posts and hope to have some before and afters soon.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Dawn. I have a question, you wrote about a favorite Tim Holtz distressing ink that was your favorite, it was a color I don't have and I didn't write it down. Would you mind letting me know. Thanks. I love both the old and new banner...Doesn't hurt a thing to change back and forth...Laurie
