It's always fun planning a baby shower!

And planning one for our very own grandbaby, sweet Emily and Brent? WONDERFUL! I've starting thinking of ideas....Emily loves antiques and all things vintage just like I do....and I DO have a lot of vintage and antique baby items so we agreed on an vintage baby theme for the shower!!

I have a beautiful lamb planter that I love that would be adorable on the table with the cake. Plus I have several other baby planters....maybe with fresh flowers inside, all one color...so as to draw attention to the planter as well. I'll have to show you a photo of these things, I'm just thinking right now.

I'm going to make the invitations....last week Michael's had their economy blank card packs half price so I bought a package of white and a package of ivory, not knowing what would work with the images I have.

Several years ago I purchased a lot of antique baby cards from a seller on ebay with the MOST beautiful graphics ever! I'll scan a few designs in, print them out and paste onto the cards ~ Maybe even frame one just for Emily. When I scan them in, I'll be sure to share them too!

Plus I know I want to make a beautiful banner to hang in the bay window ~ something that she could save as a keepsake.....We're planning on the first weekend in February as all others are quite booked up 'till the baby's birth.....Can you tell I'm getting excited??

I want to make the cake too.....a sour cream/buttermilk pound cake with wonderful buttercream icing! Maybe have strawberries with marshmallow cream cheese dip, spinach dip with an assortment of crackers, and a few more things....Oh and Fruit Tea ~ this stuff is the BEST. It's like a gallon of sweet tea, mixed with one can of frozen concentrate orange juice, one can frozen lemonade, and I think one can of pineapple juice...it's so yummy.

I have several wonderful vintage chenille spreads, maybe I could make a sweet blanket out of several squares and use it on the dining table as a table scarf then after it's laundered ~ it will be a blanket for the babe?

For party favors, I'm thinking of making instant Russian tea mix and placing it in those squatty canning jars and covering the lids with pretty fabric circles with the edges pinked and tied with ribbon. Have you ever went to a baby shower and received a really nice party favor? What was it? I'd love to know if you have an other ideas ~ I don't want to give them something they'll want to chunk in the trash when they get home! :)

I think I'd better get busy, don't you? If you have any other ideas to decorate for the vintage baby shower, I'd love to hear them!!! Wishing you all a restful and relaxing Sunday dear friends ~

xxoo, Dawn

One of my favorite things to do at a shower is hold a Onesie contest.
You provide blank white onesies and all sorts of trims, buttons, thread and fabric paint. Then you have the attendees work in teams of two to design the onesie. You give prizes to the winners and the mom-to-be goes home with darling handmade onesies made by loving hands. You will be surprised, a number of the ones created at my daughter-in-laws shower could easily have been for sale at a chich boutique
All the best.

Allow me to commend you for getting a headstart! I think of these things at the last possible moment.

Everything you're pondering sounds wonderful to me. Isn't it interesting that your son gravitated to a dark-haired beauty who loves vintage things just as his mama did? Yup, I find it fascinating!

I can feel your excitement Dawn! Sounds wonderful.

The image of the sleeping baby, is similar to the pictures that hung over my crib, when I was a baby, 65 years ago. I have them, still, packed away in the back room. They are still in their original frames. Prescious Asleep and Prescious Awake. Your post stirred up a couple of happy memories.

It sounds like it is going to be fabulous baby shower. Both images are so sweet. The sleeping baby looks so precious. A banner sounds lovely over the bay window and the tea jars covered with fabric circles sound like a nice touch, as well.
I think my favorite baby shower favor was getting little plastic baby bottle favor with the nipple that was the color for the gender of the new little one and it was filled with jelly bellies (jelly beans) that were the same color. I think it was a girl's shower because it seems that it had a pink nipple and was filled with pink jelly bellies. I thought it was adorable and yummy and not too many calories provided it's not eaten in one sitting, LOL!

That is little baby is one lucky child to have a grandma like you! Your ideas are so wonderful and I can't wait to see your posts. I was just sitting here this morning thinking of my plans for my oldest son's graduation party I will be having in June. I have already started the movie video I want to make and I to have been planning out the cake. As a matter of fact, I used to have a wedding cake business (years ago) and I want to do a fondant cake. I have been taking a class at Michaels to learn how to do it just for his party. When you are creative it's always wonderful to have a party. I can't wait to see your ideas...I will be filing them away for later years. Blessings to you, Dear Dawn....Sherry

What fun you will have. I wasn't able to have a shower myself for my little grandbaby, but if I did, it would be full of the same vintage touches that I know yours will be. (it was also great to just GO to the shower my girl's friends had for her!)ENJOY, grandmama!!

What great fun! You said you wanted to have party favors the guests wouldn't want to chunk in the trash when they get home. Trust me...having seen so much of your work through this blog, I don't think there's even half a chance ANYONE would want to toss a party favor from you. Your biggest concern may be turning away the readers of your blog from your door!! Take care.

Your plans sound awesome and its great you're planning in advance! I tend to procrastinate and then rush around like a mad woman! All of your ideas are great. Is the Russian tea something you make up? If so, would you mind sharing the recipe? The fruit tea sounds luscious!

Dawn, I know this is exciting for you! I am in the middle of working on a shower right now! I am fixing to be a first time Great Aunt and I cannot wait! I am also pulling out all of my vintage baby bottles, toys, blankets, etc. for decorations. I am having a pink and black banner with our baby's name (Emma) on it, a clothes line with baby clothes hanging on it (I am making all of the clothespins to match the banner for her room), using my Peter Rabbit dishes. It is going to be a brunch and I think I will be preparing breakfast food. I have been struggling with my party favors so it is exciting to see all of the ideas for the party favors! It also gets my mind going for some of my own!
I will be coming back to see what else is going on!!!
