Sweet photos of the day:
Our sweet Clara loved a box that we had around the house
and wanted to play with it!
What is it about a simple box?
Well, this baby was so tired from waking early, just look what happened.....
I had to take a few pics to share with you:
I had to take a few pics to share with you:
This angel slept two and a half hours in this cardboard box!
I think of this often.
Having five children and being a mom
that always wanted to be home with my babies....
and with my dear husband always supporting us all ~
there are certain tiny things that always seemed make me feel rich.
Not rich in a monetary way,
but rich in a family-loving way.
(In these tough economic times, I KNOW you can relate)
Let's see now....here's my rich list:
Cooking enough to feed many....my family plus more!
Paper towels....they are a luxury you know :)
Food to feed all of us for many meals...
even if I know it means a lot of work for me ~
it's wonderful to know you have meals planned in advance.
Food and supplies to keep my sweet animals happy and fed...
we all love our babies here and want to take care of them!
Having a clean house so my family feels loved and secure ~
I always want them to know I care enough to have
a place they are proud to come home to and
even invite their friends over.
Having a working washer and dryer so our clothes and linens
are fresh and clean....
and until your washer or dryer break down ~
you don't realize how good you have it!
Having precious friends that encouraged my endeavors
no matter how trivial they may be...
How can you stop a creative spirit?
Having precious friends that encouraged my endeavors
no matter how trivial they may be...
How can you stop a creative spirit?
But MOST of all.
What makes me feel rich is ~
laying my head on my pillow each and every night
knowing my babies,
my husband,
my family
and so many friends
are all safe, sound and healthy.
I pray for them all and am so very thankful for each day I can love them!!!!
So what makes you feel rich?
Wishing you a beautiful Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

And rich having a friend like you, sweetie.

Oh almost forgot...the little angel of yours I`m sure feel rich and safe in her little cardbox :)
Dawn ~ thank you for the precious post!
You are so right those are the best blessings!
Counting my blessings and having a final tally of a zillion makes me feel rich as Croesus.
Your baby girl is precious and those photos are worth more than all the pearls in the ocean.

These are some rough economic times. We make decisions every day based on what's in the wallet. So I try not to focus too much on that. I do love having a well stocked pantry and by that I don't mean that everything is there just that the staples are. I'd add tp to the list! Shampoo. Dishwashing liquid. Funny how it's truly the little things. Oh, a full oil tank and gas tank makes me feel very rich (or very poor).
Your list is fabulous, Clara sleeping in a box is adorable...it really is about the little things. Do you suppose that the sides make her feel secure and warm? She may require draperies on her bed. ☺
Thank you for getting me thinking about such things.
Now how precious is your Clara in a box? Love it. Thanks for reminding me of the true things that makes one rich.
Blessings,
Susie
lol..love this pic! Oh to be a child again. :) I agree enjoying the "riches" of life that we have are so much more than money.
Being able to read this and having blog friends like you! This is a world I never thought I'd love this much. All the inspiration and support we continue to give each other, is priceless.
I'm afraid more simple times are what we are all leaning towards. I believe we will like it, though.
Dawn, you bring reality to us all with such beauty and kindness. I am so happy to have found your blog and art. We are rich indeed to know you.
Being able to travel with my sister in her little Winnebago and go to craft shows....sitting in my living room at night with the gas fire logs on...always having a dollar or two when I stop by the Goodwill store. Doesn't take much to make me happy.

Precious!
Too bad Blogger doesn't have a "like" button like FB--I loved this post, Dawn--not only do I agree with you wholeheartedly, the pictures of Clara reminded me of a time when one of my daughters (who is now 33) was a toddler, and she found an empty box and proceeded to sit in it and pretend it was a car, begging family members to "Push me, push, me!" She had more fun with that cardboard box during that week than she did with all of her toys! Proof that even a simple cardboard box can make one feel rich!
Simples things, as you say, Dawn. A dishwasher, of all things. Since moving into our new place, while I wait on appliances, I am hand washing all our dishes, pots, pans and utensils. A washer and dryer - waiting on those, too. Internet service, to actually connect with my family back in New York and give me some entertainment since we don't have cable or the TV hooked up yet. It's amazing how we come to depend on these things. Your Clara looks so adorable sleeping in that box. It is funny what they decide they want to play with!
What a dear post! And oh, to be a little and just "turn off" when you're tired and sleep away the day. That is a rich they are too young to recognize and we can only hope it goes on as long as possible!
Love this post Dawn...... :-)
Yep, I've always wondered what the attraction is to empty boxes. My dad used to tell me to skip the gift and just give my daughter the big 'ol empty box. She'd be entertained for hours.
Hugs!

PS.... could your little Clara be any cuter?
First I would have to agree with you on all accounts about family, food, housing. I also feel rich when I can be outdoors in my garden, the woods. Finding treasures, it's much better than shopping at the store.I would feel rich if I could go for a walk.
reading your post made me feel rich. . .

I echo your thoughts, having my family close by and healthy makes me feel rich. Laughter, sharing and joy at the family gatherings means so much. After health issues being healthy and having my husband here makes me a wealthy woman indeed! Clara looks so comfortable!

What makes me feel rich? Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. Is that too materialistic?
Just reading your beautiful post, reminds me how rich that I really am. Thanks for the lovely reminder.
Beautiful thoughts... and, I love the photos of Clara. So sweet. Took me back to when my guys were little. They could sleep anywhere, and they also loved boxes!
