I wash them with fabric softener and then the fabric is this
amazing nubby, speckled goodness that's sturdy as all get out!
I just finished two more flea bags.
Created from, you guessed it...drop cloths!
With a little bit of antique lace, toile lining, watch faces and button ~
these sweeties are ready to FLEA!
And you know what would be wonderful??
Add a few more goodies to these bags!!!

I guess I love creating with this fabric because it's so sturdy.
I have this wish that years and years after I'm gone from this earth,
that the things I've made will be those treasures that are lasting and that
others will find at flea markets and antique malls....
new treasures to them but that have stood the test of time!

Dear Dawn- they are so very beautiful, I love the button apun the watch, and that the "flap" is a bit smaller than the withs of the bag- and ofcourse, sweet friend, I alwayes love your way of making "simple" look gorgeous. They are wonderful.

Since I first heard you talking about drop cloths...several years ago now...I've done a lot with them, too. I copied your draperies, I use them for making pillows, table runners, backs of potholders (the sturdy factor), sachets, and now you're tempting me with making a lovely bag. Too wonderful!

That turned out beautifully, Dawn! It looks more pliable from your washing it, too {if that is possible to see in a picture!} I love that it looks soft and pretty, but also says "I mean business" with the strength of the drop cloth material.

I know that if I owned one of your treasures, it would be something the family would fight over, would come to the reading of my will to see who would inherit. My husband owns a painting company. You'd think we'd have a few of those drop cloths hanging about. Come to think about it, if we did, they'd be covered in latex paint. =D

Wow, gorgoues bag Dawn! I also love working with the drop cloths. I am making curtains for my new dining room out of them and recovering some chair redo's. I also use them inthe winter to close of the LR from the DR where French doors once were. Keeps the LR so cozy and warm in this drafty old house. Hope this finds you well sweet friend.
Hi Dawn.....I would of never thought of drop cloths but how easy is that....I bought canvas cloth once and made a few crafts but I am sure those drop cloths are so much more reasonable in price. Quick question...are your drop cloths as white as your pictures show...or are they more like raw linen? If yours are white, did they come that way?
ugh...I must of bought the wrong kind, didnt know there were diff kinds, i washed the one i bought, and i was sewing the holes got bigger and bigger...then it was very flimsy and cheap looking..havent used it...dont like the texture, did i buy the wrong kind..it is very thin also...ugh..thanks dawn from dawn
