Sticky fingers ~

I find myself waking up in the mornings....
and eventually looking down at my hands and what do I see?
For one, my mama's hands...how in the world did that happen??
And then I notice small pieces of glue that I'd missed the night before!!

I'm one of those hand washers and while I'm making something
I tend to wash them over and over again BUT
the glues I've been using have some serious lasting power.
But one thing I know....
If I wake up with sticky fingers, with tiny pieces of glue here and there,
I must have made something new the night before!!!

I love working with nests, eggs and feathers ~
so I had to make another piece.
This one is created using the back, yes, the back
of a 12" x 12" canvas!
I've covered every speck with wonderful old pages
from a birds of America book....even the back.

Sold!!!
Thank you so much Jules!

Here's wishing YOU a few sticky fingers too!!

Happy Thursday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Lovely, Dawn - but, please tell me - what glues do you use? Especially if the treasures you're committing to shadowbox are of some historic commemorative value. Do you use different glues for wood, fabric, ceramic? Novice little me and my glue gun are wondering what's best for a project commemorating my hometown's sesquicentennial. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Your art is always so inspiring! Wish I could stay in my studio and create something. Gotta be out working on huge pieces of industrial furniture for the next show in 4 weeks! Summer is always are busy time! Keep it coming!

Oh, I see, using the back of the canvas creates a little shadow box just the right size. Excellent thinking outside the box or inside as the case may be. Your story about glue on your fingers is my own every time I use the stuff and one of the reasons why I don't work with glue often.

When I wake up with sticky fingers, it's not because I made anything as beautiful as this. Usually it's 'cause I ate donuts the nite before!
Love that you see your mama's hands...I do too!

In my case it is the stains from the alcohol inks...I look like a car mechanic!! Your nest is just beautiful. How creative to use the back side. My neighbors used to have all kinds of barnyard birds and I would spend every trip over there picking up the wonderful feathers. Love it!

Dawn, My fingers are so sticky now they are sticking to my computer mouse. LOL! I don't think my hands have been perfectly clean in a very long time. When the glue sticks, other things seem to stick to them also. I just smile and know that through it I created something special for someone. How about getting together soon?
Let me know! PS~ Thanks for helping Whitney find a washing machine. I did not want her to get a front loader. I really do not like mine.

Love you,
Yvette

Dawn, everytime I've ever come across your blog I feel so inspired. Thank you for always sharing the simple & beautiful things in your life. And tomorrow... I too will have sticky fingers. I find it funny how the Lord works... I saw your shadow box, which inspired me to create something for my home... I was just wondering where I'd find something to turn into a shadowbox... then my husband came home from work with a very shallow wooden box and told me that he thought I could make something with it... it's just beautiful how life works... Lookin' forward to more posts.
