Can an idea be brewing in your mind for years?

Well, it sure can in my head!
The minute I bought this old light fixture part
I just knew what I wanted to transform it into.
Of course, I bought it a few years ago so it's been
brewing for quite a while now!!!

You've heard of a "make do" right?
I tried to find a good definition and the best one I could find was:
"something contrived to meet a need"
Well, that's perfect!

This old light fixture part serves as the perfect base
for a beautiful damask pincushion!!
It's a big one....maybe the only one a person would need ~
it was so fun to make.
I filled it with a mixture of crushed walnut shells and fiberfill.....
so it has a wonderful weight to it.

It's so good to see an idea you've had actually
be completed ~ even it takes a couple of years!!!

Listed in my Etsy shop ~

Wishing you a beautiful weekend dear friends
as we honor our precious fathers!

hugs and love,
Dawn

I am bad for buying things to use for later on but they always get used somewhere.I adore that pin cushion what a wonderful Idea.I bought a pink glass lamp base and it had glass drops around the top but the shade was missing.I have an idea for it but its not time to do yet.

What an interesting and creative use for an old lamp fixture. It is truly unique. The soft colors and aged look are wonderful too.

Good Mornin' Dawn! As someone who started out making primitives, "make do" is a common term for me. I must say THIS make do is the prettiest one I've ever seen! And yes...an idea certainly CAN stew for years... lol I have many many of them simmering away! :) xo

Do you have the link to the before shot of this? I think this is a really good idea. I wouldn't have to look for my pincushion and it would be heavy enough to be stationary. Not only that, it's beautiful!

Hi Dearest Dawn,
You have done it again. You are such a clever, imaginative and extremely talanted lady. The pin cushion is absolutely adorable. I love the colours, the shabby chic style, the texture of the material you have choosen and all the gorgeous embelishments you have added to make it the prettiest of pin cushions. Might there be a tutorial for this in the future? I do hope so.
As always it's such a treat to visit your darling blog.
Thanks for sharing this.
Warmest best wishes dear friend.
