Sweet discoveries ~

With our family moving into a "new" old home the fall of this past year,
I'm just now seeing the wonderful old plantings
that exist around this old farmhouse!

Isn't Spring so amazing?!
Beautiful things are growing and blooming
around this house that I had no idea were here at all!!

Just look at these new tulips in our flower bed......
the color is absolutely beautiful to me.

Beautiful white azalea bushes...

And I HAVE to share with you the stately old pecan trees we have on our property!!
Can you see the beautiful moss growing on the trunks?

I have heard that it's not really Spring until the pecan trees are budding their leaves....
and just look at what's happening to ours!!!
Can you see the petite leaves?

I'm in love with moss....I can't help myself ~

It's been so overcast and rainy this week but still absolutely beautiful.....
Always look beyond everything else to see the beauty.

I hope you have a great Thursday dear friends!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

And the excitement is going to continue throughout the growing season, I'm sure. Oh that is a beautiful shade of pink. I'm getting a little concerned for the pecan tree...you're not going to go harvesting moss are you?

Oh so pretty! I share your love for moss, which is good, since I live in the mossy PNW. :-) The soft shell pink of your surprise tulips is my most favorite color on the planet! I would be hugging myself with happiness!

Moss is such a simple overlooked plant and it's glorious. Lichen is another inspiration to me.The colors are divine.

Hi Miz Dawn,
I got your email, just haven't gotten back to you yet, sorry. Your white azalea is so pretty, I have a white one that is almost ready to open. I just bought 5 pink ones to plant. I need more shrubs too. The sun will be out this weekend, so that means yard work! It must be fun to watch what comes up in your new yard. Having a pecan tree is a bonus. I didn't like pecans untill I moved here and discovered how good they are when they are fresh. I hope you have tons of nuts in the fall. Are you going to put in a vege garden?
I love the photos of your little peanut enjoying her birthday. It seems like she was a newborn just yesterday! Time flys!
All is well, just not interested in posting for some reason.I think I prefer flickr. I hope all is well, you sound happy.
Take care!
Love
Marcie

Well, I'd have to say I was in the same boat a year ago. We had the wonderful surpise of many, many apples trees, with plenty of apples. The gardens were neglected for many years, so not much came up other than a really invasive plant. I dug it all out, and found ONE astilbe and ONE peony... They will be babied and nurtured this year!

Thank you for posting pictures of what spring looks like! Sometimes, here in Manitoba, Canada, we doubt if spring will ever arrive this year.
Although our weather is getting better - as high as 46F some days, at night it goes down to 22F, and there is still plenty of snow. Yuck! BUT, I noticed my daffodils and tulips are peeking through the snow and that makes my heart sing! There is hope!
