I just love making beautiful things!
Even if I have to make them at a snail's pace :)
I thought I show you my tiny bit of progress on the treasure box:
Mostly beautiful, old, vintage lace!
I collect every snippet I can find for this very purpose.....
What do I use to adhere the lace to the wood box?
My most favorite thing ever....matte gel medium!
Paint on a layer and lay the lace on top ~
then paint another thin layer over the lace
and it dries to the most wonderful matte finish!!!
Gorgeous old lace absolutely makes me melt....
Have a wonderful Tuesday sweet friends!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

It surely looks so beautifull, with the laces layed down, like that, dearest Dawn-
The box will be a wonderfull "jewel" in your room, when finished.
I try to collect all I find, too :)

It is a treasure - lace is so gorgeous. ANxious to see the final reveal.
Good week to you,
Mimi
Ahhh, 'tis lovely! I remember the matte gel from your telling us awhile ago and I purchased some back then...pricey...now, of course, it's gone. Must pick up some more just to play and experiment. I do not have your wonderful eye for thinking outside or even inside the box.
What a lovely creation! Thanks for the "how to":) Have a blessed day! HUGS!
Hi Dawn, what a lovely piece. The lace gives it beautiful texture, thanks for sharing how you applied it.
Have a great day! Hugs
Soooo lovely! I never would have thought to use the gel on lace! thanks for the tip! ps that box would look great in my bedroom! Love seeing your progress!

Beautiful, Dawn! It has such a romantic look to it!
So pretty! I too love old lace....... You have a beautiful collection ..
Such a pretty box! The vintage Irish crochet lace is a treasure in itself! I just love it!
This vintage appearing box of lace and text is just gorgeous. The softness of the color is what makes it so feminine and divine. Ahh yes...the lure of lace...
Beautiful! And I am so glad you explain how you use the matte gel medium. I bought some after you mentioned how much you love to use it. I knew that you attach lace with it, but I wasn't comfortable putting it on top of the lace and wondered if that's what you do. Now I know and will use it freely. Thank you!
The box has taken quite a transformation Dawn. I've never heard of matte gel medium, but it sounds wonderful, am going to look for it. Thanks for sharing. ~ Abby
I love old lace too...it adds suchcharacter and texture to pieces! I too Dawnappreciate getting things done at what feels like a snails pace. Sometimes I feel lately that it takes longer to get everything out and then put away than it does working on projects. So any "free" time is treasured for creating!
So far, it's beautiful! So creative ~ I love to see all your work!
Dawn,
It is drop dead gorgeous!!
So very pretty!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Hi Miz Dawn,

ps..am I supposed to be getting a popup survey each time I visit? It shows up along the bottom...stays a little and goes away.
OH! OH! OH! Dawn, the addition of the lace is fantastic!!!!! Oh, you raised the bar! LOVE THIS!!!
Hugs! Diane
Love your treasure chest! It is beautiful.
I too love boxes and old lace. Always trying to
make another one! I use a lot of cigar boxes.
Thanks for sharing your lovely art work.
Smiles and Blessings,
Nancy
Oh me too Dawn. I just get weak in the knews when I see lace like this. Your treasure box is so beautiful! Like every single thing you do.
sending hugs
I love it Dawn and yes matte gel medium is one of my favorite ways to adhere fabrics and papers, no buckling with that magic product!
I love the look of your box so far. I especially love the little rosette lace pieces. I've only been able to find this on very small doilies--not strips like you used. I love it so much I'm having trouble cutting it up so it sits on my piano with my other junk.
