Gorgeous old lace + a little glue = a feeling of major accomplishment!

Good grief!
It doesn't take too much to make me happy!!
I worked at the soap shop today helping to fill a few orders...
didn't have to cook dinner (ALWAYS LOVE THAT)
then finally drifted into my studio.

I have a HUGE amount of gorgeous old lace
so I looked through and found a few snippets
to add to my treasure box.

I had these gorgeous pieces of wedding lace ~
they weren't quite "aged" enough for my taste so I took
my two favorite ink pads and used a makeup sponge
dabbed on each ~ one is a little redder brown, one is a little blacker brown
and I love the brown they make together :)
I blot off much of the color then
gently dab around to achieve the perfect "old" look.

Here's my favorite glue again...
It is wonderful and you know the very best part?
It dries to a matte finish so you can't even see
where I used it!
If you don't have any of this stuff,
don't worry...you can use good ol' Elmers glue too!
It's thinner but dries to a matte finish.

I simply paint the medium all over the back of these pieces.

Then painted it around the sides ~

So I could add more old lace...

Here's my progress so far!!
I'm still not quite finished though ~

I've been lining the inside as well ~
Don't you think it will be perfect to store gorgeous
old jewelry pieces and baubles?
I should have it in my shoppe in a day or so!

I've got to show you a recent gift I received!
Two sconces adorned by old crystals ~
I need to clean the crystals, add a few more from my stash...
add the candles and hang them!

Plus, we're having a giveaway on the Facebook Shop Fun Soap page!!!

As always Dear Dawn you have made a treasure. So beautiful. I am constantly looking for old lace...not easy to find. The baby shower for kayla was so much fun and she loves the quilt. And now her little girl will sleep in the cradle that her grandpa made 21 years ago. She will be naming her "Annabel Marie" I love it...they may call her Bella:) I love the old names that the girls are going back too.
So how is Dawn, are you loving your new house? I know you have been in it for awhile now, I just know you have made it your own. Big Hugs, Mary

Beautiful Dawn and the style I love the most, I have that lace and have some from my own Wedding dress from 1961 what was left over as a friend of my Mom's made my dress for $50, now if you saw my dress you would say, (somebody made That for $50) but is was a lot of $ back then, I have used your technique before and I have also used Tsukinek antiquing solutions diluted down and they go really far as they are so intense in color. You probably know this all but I share anyway, have a wonderful weekend! By the way this type of lace can still be purchased where I live there is a store that has it and they charge about $30 yard.

Dawn....such a beautiful project, it looks done to me.
I have LACE ENVY !!
I have not ever worked with that medium. Does it dry clear...and hard as a ROCK ?
I have recently heard of a product called PowerTex..have you heard of that ?
I will be taking a class..( if she gets enough students signed up ) at the end of this month and she will be using PowerTex..she said it is like "playing in mud".
So I am sure it will be messy.
