For the love of nature....

Seems no matter what time of the year it is,
I'm always drawn to elements of nature.
I enjoy collecting bird and nature images, nests, even sticks!
Some I use in my artwork but most
are just to have and appreciate God's handiwork ~

I think that's why I love the "cabinet of curiosities" look...
collected nature treasures displayed in scientific way
is so beautiful to me ~

I'm not a bug lover AT ALL!
But there's something about these pages
that draw me in ~

Preserving and pressing flowers is a true joy,
and to incorporate any of these into my artwork is even better!!

I'm always on the search for herbariums or botanical pages ~

The look of this room is gorgeous to me!
What movie is this from again??

See the herbarium on the desk below? :)

Collected treasures my son brought home for me!

Lisa of Tarnished and Tattered bought
some beautiful old pressed botanicals a while back
and she has preserved them in such a wonderful way...see HERE ~

I have an amazing collection of nests now and I've been thinking about
how to display them all together for impact, maybe something
with little cubbies with a different nest in each compartment??

Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Hi Dawn, Thanks for the beautiful images. You are so generous, and someday I'd love to send you something I've made with them. The movie is Practical Magic, I love that movie for the kitchen, house and gardens. Have a great day dear Dawn. Love, Penny

i love those botanicals as well and saw what lisa did with hers. just stunning! yours are gorgeous as well. (i think that room was from the movie "practical magic" with nicole kidman and sandra bullock). happy day! :)

Lovely images, again, Dawn! I can pick out at least 8 flowers in the first scan that we have around here. I love wildflowers... and birds... and nests... but not so much insects, lol! Well, I do like butterflies. :)

I can't think of the name of the movie, but is it the one where three sisters (or firends) cast a spell on a guy? Did Sondra Bullock play in it? Maybe I'm confusing two movies... I need more coffee!

Have a lovely, blessed day!

Dearest Dawn,

Ooooooo I LOVE THAT KITCHEN! Ok in the past my idea of Heaven was either a setting like the movie MaMa Mia or Under the Tuscan Sun...but now I think that room would be perfect in either of those settings! Don't you?

You have smart readers...it's the reason I popped into comments today. I wanted to see if anyone knew because I'd like to see that movie. :D

You always share such wonderful things. It must be fun for the children in your life to go on treasure hunts for you!

Hey girl...I was on Lisas' blog last night and had the same notion as you about the pressed posies, but at this point, anything posy has my attention...COME ON SPRING...raining and cold today, but sunshine Thurs and Fri, I just might get sumthin done outside!

February was such a dead month in sales, it'll take me all of March to catch up...think I'll open a bottle of wine and drown my sorrows...but tomorrow is always another day, rain or shine, it's beautiful to be alive!!!

Have a fun week girl, gonna put on my jammies and surf all night(till I pass out)
(one glass)...ha!

I've been reading your posts for awhile but have been unable to comment. Just discovered I needed to enable "third party cookies" in case anyone else has the same problem.

Love the botanical prints, and of course the birds and eggs. Thanks so much for your generous sharing of your images.

Isn't it awesome your son brings you happy things from nature.
