A cobbler I am ~

No...not a peach or blackberry cobbler :)
but a maker of shoes!!!
I've been playing in the studio just a little ~

My sweet friend Lisa is teaching a class at Cottage Panache soon
and is teaching students how to create the most GORGEOUS collage.
One of the elements is the tiniest pair of doll shoes.....
So I told her I'd make the shoes for her!!

What is it about tiny things? I just love them ~

I don't think I showed you these wonderful goodies I found this weekend....
I know, you can't believe there's more!!
Look at these wonderful rusty bells....
and this beautiful velvet box ~

And this is the inside of an old jewelry box ~
I can't even believe that old general store was selling this and
I'm sure the owner couldn't believe that I loved it!
Don't you see a future assemblage home?

School has started for our Noah ~ he's had a great few days so far.
I'm still helping at the soap shop and orders are really starting to pour in!!!
If you don't see a post here or there, it's not because I don't love you ~
I'm just trying to keep up with it all!!

Wishing you a most wonderful Wednesday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Girlfriend,

I am F-R-E-A-K-I-N-G OUT!!!!!!!!!! I loved the nubby ones so freaking much, but now I see the others (which by the way I thought were from your recent Ebay score). I would be hard pressed to pick those from a vintage pair. How on earth did you sew so small? I know, you played a how to DVD to Clara while she slept, then put her little hands to work this morning. You bribed her with Zoomafu or Moon Pies. Needless to say, I think they are magical, & I'm so excited to use them in the class & other projects. Lisa

Love your shoes, Dawn! How nice of you to offer to make them. I'm afraid they'd be too small of a thing for me to work on though {even if I wear my reading glasses}!

Love the shoes, Lisa is so blessed to have you as a personal cobbler! You always find THE best stuff. It is so blazing hot here (108 today!) that I have not wanted to go out junking lately. Thanks for feeding my junk desire with all the eye candy, sweet indeed! So glad to hear that your soap business is booming!

Girlfriend...I am just catching up with you and I have to say that you had me laughing and oooohing and aaaahhhing all at the same time. It's really hard to be your friend right now as I'm SO jealous of all your old store finds!!!! I cannot say what is my favorite because I'm sooo full of envy right now ;)
As for Miss Lisa...what would she do without you? You are sooooo talented Dawn and sooooo sweet to help her. Those are the cutest little shoes!!!!
I'm so happy that the soap shop is doing well!!! Yay!!! Such great news, especially in this economy.
Well girl, have fun with the little shoes and it was nice visiting with you and catching up. (even if I'm all jealous, I still love you!)

Sweet shoes Miz Dawn! I have made them too, so I know how much work goes into them. Leather scraps are nice to work with if you come across some...or an old leather jacket, or kid leather gloves. Restoreing antique dolls and their costumes was her thing, and that included the shoes. Most all her old supplies are in storage units, which makes me crazy if I think about it.

Love the boxes, you will create something wonderful I'm sure.
I am glad life is hummin along for you all. This hatefull heat will be gone before long and cool air will return to invigorate us all.
Love ya!

OK, Dawn, now I believe the story about "The Shoemaker and the Elves". It's hard to believe that human hands, even yours, can work so small. Excellent shoemaking, and I'm in awe.

Hallo and thank you very much for sharing these wonderful images of your stunning creations with us. I am currently making a ballet art quilt where I have thread painted one of Edgar Degas's ballerinas on fabric that I antiqued with rusted screws and vinegar. I though that I would incorporate
tinu ballet shoes into this quilt but am unable to find some do you make and sell these and if so can I purchase some from you.

Sincerely
