Embracing a Thankful Christmas ~

This has been on my mind a lot the last few days....
as much as we want November to be totally dedicated to Thanksgiving,
it's not gonna happen.

Retailers can't let it happen, small businesses can't let it happen
and even us teeny tiny artists have to think ahead,
as Christmas seems to arrive more quickly each and every year!!!

But I have a solution.
Let's embrace Christmas and Thanksgiving for both months....
and have a Thankful Christmas!
I find myself always trying to remain thankful throughout the year
but it seems that these last few months of the year
always make me especially grateful and thankful.

So...that's how I'm looking at it all ~
as this precious season will soon be gone in the blink of an eye......

And I've made something new!!!!
and you know how I've loved her gorgeous altered ballet slippers right?
Well, using her wonderful tutorial, I've made my very own pair!!!!!

I used Martha Stewart's new acrylic paint ~
the beautiful pale blue color is called "cloud"
I'm not really a blue girl but this blue is HEAVENLY!!!!

I even painted some of my sweet bottle brush trees with it!!!
I'm still working on them...decorating them and such ~
but progress is being made :)

The crazy work table!

The sweet ballet slippers in progress ~

Considering embellishments ~

My finished pair!!!

Wouldn't these make the most amazing gift EVER???

I am so thankful for each and every person who has served
and is STILL serving our wonderful country ~
we respect, honor and thank you all!!!!

Have a very thankful Friday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

You are soooo right about the whole melding of Thanksgiving into Christmas! I swear every year I'm going to really deck out for Fall and really embrace Thanksgiving (instead of just giving it a cursory nod while really planning for Christmas). Love your idea of a Thankful Christmas!! :)

That blue IS pretty!! Your little shoes are sooo sweet!!!

May I be among the first to wish you Merry Thankful Christmas! :)

Those little slippers are adorable, Dawn! I love them! I think you embellished them with just the right pieces. I wouldn't choose blue as a first choice myself, but that is a really nice blue.

I started having my home all decked-out early for Christmas when I was hosting the whole extended family for Thanksgiving. Some members of the family expressed how much they loved to see my decorations and how it was the only chance they got to see them. I think about family when I decorate...remembering which ornaments they loved. I am grateful that Thanksgiving gives me the opportunity to reflect.

Hey Sweetie, me again. Thank you so much for doing my tutorial & making them look so beautiful. I'm going to Michaels today to buy that Cloud color, it's perfect! Your work desk is totally inspiring! I would just sit & stare at it myself. As for your Thanksgiving idea, I totally agreee. If we wait too long it's over. Plus it's so stressful to shop, decorate etc. Last year I hardly had a chance to enjoy the tree. This year I'm doing things early.

I always feel so blessed when I get to peek into your studio Dawn. I have always loved your artwork since I first found your blog and getting to see where you create the magic is a treat for me. Your ballet slippers are beautiful.
I agree about embracing the seasons together and for me I have never worried about decorating or gift making too early. You are so right about it all being so fleeting.
lots of love from me...
