A library is a wonderful place ~

I love books. Mostly picture books....I guess I've never outgrown that. I've read fiction in the past, seems it was before having children though. When time was in abundance and I didn't feel so compelled to make my time "count" for something. Not that reading fiction doesn't count. It can be a great stress reliever which in turn is really good for the reader and for all who live with them!

It just happens to be my preference, liking non-fiction books. Emily and I took a trip to the library today. She's reading all she can about pregnancy and babies. I was the exact same way. Knowledge is power when doing something you've never done before. She found her handful of books. Me? I found NINE! Yes, just nine. I could open a library in my bedroom right now but I still managed to find nine books that were very interesting to me! I look for very old books, informational books or how-to and also books about artists. I found the most wonderful book about the art of Beatrix Potter. I had to scan in the precious work below, I can't remember seeing it before but you may have. I've always loved her artwork......

Another book I found is one about Da Vinci's work ~ don't you just love his art? It's truly breathtaking.

Believe it or not I've still been battling this cold, it's almost been a week now but maybe by the weekend it will be gone?? I've not been terribly creative as a result of not feeling well and I truly yearn for it. Hopefully I'll be able to carve out a few moments in the next few days to make something. Does it make you sad not to create? Well, maybe not sad, just not accomplished in some way. I hope that you all are feeling good, staying healthy. I'm so very glad you liked the French images!! I love sharing my stash with you and hope in some way it will encourage you to make something beautiful ~

Wishing you a great Wednesday!

xxoo, Dawn

Dear Dawn,

such a wunderful picture of Beatrix Potter. She also is one of my favorite-painters. Her life was so absorbing. Her deep love to the nature and the animals. Sometimes I hope I can visit her house.

Your Blog is so especially. I often come to look for news.

Best wishes from
Cornelia

Dawn, me too! Libraries and book stores and antique stores with lots of books and paper! And the same as you...I get antsy if I don't have a project to do. So, it really helps to have a good book for those times, doesn't it!

I do hope you feel better with each day!

As for feeling 'not accomplished' in some way if I don't create...hey, I feel that way every day! As I've mentioned, I'm not creative, though I have tried in the past. Just didn't get that artistic gene. I'm so glad you have it, as well as others. Gives me something to enjoy vicariously.

Take care of yourself!

I'm so sorry about your cold. Take care of yourself. You're probably run down from getting ready for the move-in. I love old books, too, especially the children's books. Though I use old books in my works, I only use the ones that are completely worthless. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. I'm sure someday I will use some of your gifts. Sally

Yes, it does make me sad not to create. I have not been able to create much the past few years, but now I have dedicated next year to creating. I am very excited.

I do hope your cold is better very soon. I love it when you create.

Just say to that cold, "Enough!" Now don't think I'm completely crazy. I recently read that one can cure hiccups by doing that and so help me, every single time I've done that, it has worked. Odd, eh?

Wonderful illustration and if I had a few more to join me in my sewing room, that's just how it would look.

Emily is a dear girl reading all that she can. I know that it's an exciting, amazing time for her.

The other day there was a program about homeless people who call libraries their home. The people interviewed were saying that it is a clean, warm heaven were people where they feel save and were they are treated with respect. Who would have thought that a library is not only a place of learning, but a shelter for those in need. Libraries nurture the soul and body.

I hope you will feel better soon!

I hope you feel much better soon. It's been such a busy time for you, and there's still the holidays ahead, so try to take some time for yourself and rest, when you can.
I love the library. I read so much, and there is no way I could ever afford to buy all the books that I've enjoyed because of it. Libraries truly opened up the world for me as a child, and still does.

I love to craft, but I'm just now finding more time for it. I missed it, but I didn't realize just how much until I started to do more.

Hi, Dawn!

I sure hope that you are feeling better soon. It is hard to sick during the holidays!

Nope, I've never seen that particular picture before, either. Little cuties are those wee mice!

Through you and some other friends on the web, as well as one of my friends here, I have learned to be creative again. I lost myself along the way somewhere and forgot to allow an avenue for my artistic nature. I think that's one of the reasons I've been battling depression. Now that I am becoming crafty and making things again, I feel so much more ALIVE!

Thanks, dear friend!

So glad you also have this addiction! My honey swears one corner of the house will break off the foundation due to the weight of the books & magazines. I loved the French Goodies you shared. I am going to post about another site that is sharing wonderful vintage French Photos. Come by for a visit. You will love the goodies she has. I will be so happy to share something with you.
