A dud idea, a new idea & a mini tutorial!
OH and the WINNER!!

Well, not everything turns out to be a great idea...
this raggedy garland might look OK if it were about five times more full and fluffy....
the spray glue kind of matted it up a bit too ~
I guess you can't glitter EVERYTHING!

BUT....now I've decided to try this....please tell me what you think ~
will it look like a bride if I use ivory tulle as garland??
I love the ethereal look of it and I'm thinking it will be just what I need ~
now I need a Michael's coupon!

Here's a mini-tutorial....kind of a mini version of what I sell in my Etsy shop!

A Victorian Cone Ornament

Supplies needed to complete this project:

• Embossed, paintable wallpaper (from Lowes or Home Depot)
• Fabri-Tac glue, it bonds quickly (Wal-mart carries this)
• Elmer's Spray Adhesive (Wal-mart)
• Brown acrylic paint or antiquing solution (Folk-Art brand is at Michael's or Hobby Lobby)
• Paint brush
• Scissors, hole punch
• Clear glitter, Martha Stewart Ultra Fine and Diamond Dust (Michael's, use a coupon)
• Ribbon or seam binding, a couple of buttons and a vintage earring that matches
• Print the pattern to fill up an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper. (Be sure to click it a couple of times to enlarge
then right click it to save it to your own computer.)

Place pieces good side down in an old box
and spray back sides with spray glue.
Press together to form a bond. Now both sides are pretty!
Punch holes as on the template.

Another vanilla Christmas goodie for our tree!!!
I won't leave the lace and seam binding inside but you get the idea ~
how about a bag of candy wrapped in the tulle
and stuffed inside with a little puff coming out the top??

If you don't have some of these supplies,
use what you do have.
Scrapbooking paper, newspaper, old sheet music...
even wrapping paper, you can sandwich a piece of manilla folder
in between the layers to stabilize the paper better.
I love creating things with what I have on hand ~

A peek at the new artwork ~ not fully assembled....can you tell I'm loving this wallpaper?

And last but certainly not least,
the wonderful winner of the Food Network Magazine
and the little snowguy ~ Pea!! of Pea Picker's Primitives ~
thank you all so much for entering!

The sweet snowman ornament is NOW a tutorial you can purchase
in my Etsy shop!!!

Wishing you all a great Tuesday dear friends!

Congrats to Pea! I can't wait to see your tree! I think the tulle will be wonderful. I would so love to design new decor for our tree but I fear there will not be time to do so. Maybe I can just do a few things to spruce up the old standards. I keep saying that someday I will have a wonderful themed tree but so far that has never happened. I love you cone idea, thank you for sharing the instructions.

What a great idea- and I think I have all the supplies on hand except the spray on adhesive, but I think I can find something to pinch hit for it.

Around here, Michaels will accept competitors coupons- including Hobby Lobby. I don't have a Michaels coupon for you but here's a link to a Hobby Lobby one- see if you can use it at your Michaels

What a beautiful tutorial - thank you Dawn. That is a good day-after-Thanksgiving-project for a relaxing enjoying-being-at-home time! I'm thinking the muslin doesn't look so bad. My favorite combo is rough-hewn items mixed with fine items. Could you mix the tattered muslin with some fine tulle? Happy Thanksgiving!

Does anyone have the new link to Beachy's Cape Cod Cupboard? At first it was on her old blog, just a click and it took you to her new one. I am not able to find her new spot, anyone have it?

Dawn,
OMG I can't believe I won! How wonderful. I collect little snowmen and he will be perfect to add to my collection and then have a place of honor in my cabinet all the year long!
I had a friend that used tulle on her tree and bunch it here and there with vintage millinary flowers and soft peach velvet leaves. It was BREATH TAKING! The bulbs all matched and she used colored lights to match. I am sure your tree will be one to be featured in a mag or shop.
There is a floral shop back home that every year we used to go to. Mom still gets me ornaments from there every year. They do up about 60 trees and I am always attracted to the fanciest tree there. LOL a bit of girl still lives in this tomboy body. LOL
Thank you again dear friend. I am thrilled and honored to have the creation( OH SO SWEET) and the mag.
Hugs,Pea

Congrats to Pea! And, thank you for the cone tutorial.

I love that wallpaper! The suitcase lid is going to be beautiful. I have three old suitcases and now you've got my mind spinning...

My mom used white tulle on her tree, gathered about every 8 inches and tied with satin ribbon... It looked so beautiful.

Hi Dawn, thanks so much for the cone tutorial. Your cone is so beautiful, I hope to make some this weekend for my Christmas tree. I use tulle on my tree and it looks so lovely, and it's easy to use. They sell it at the dollar tree so it very is affordable, and comes in white, cream, pink, and blue. I use it on all of my gift wrapped boxes. I wish you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving.

Dawn, I was lucky enough to find about 6 rolls of that embossed wallpaper at an estate sale for a pittance. I bought all of it and it's been sitting in my basement. Now I have the perfect project for my paper stash. Thanks for the tutorial!
