A new tutorial is ready at
The Little Speckled Egg store!!

I just love these notebooks. They truly are so fun to make. I should be making them ALL the time! The notebook below is the one featured in my tutorial.

Just visit The Little Speckled Egg blog if you're interested in purchasing these instructions. A list of materials you'll need is supplied plus I take step-by-step photographs and include typed instructions to guide you through this project. The images I've used on the various notebooks are either from Shabby Cottage Studio (Gail sells images that can be emailed!) or images that I've collected over time. I have not included images with the tutorial but have plenty of free images here on my blog that you are free to right click and save or visit The Graphics Fairy for more free images. Use pages from old, worn out books, old sheet music, scrapbooking papers and color copies from your own collection.
The possibilities are ENDLESS!!

(This beautiful little girl image can be found at Shabby Cottage Studio)

Here's a sampling of composition books I've made and sold in the past:

You can purchase the tiny composition books, which I love to call "thought" books, or the regular sized ones. They normally have a black and white speckled type cardboard cover and are really inexpensive.

After you alter and adorn them, they make such perfect gifts. You can change the theme to suit the taste or interests of the person you are giving it to!!

Thank you so very much for visiting me ~ your comments inspire and encourage me to be more creative and to share what I learn along the way.

Wishing you a wonderful Friday sweet friends!

xxoo, Dawn

I just love your tutorials, Dawn! I find it hard to get a project completed because of my procrastination! I get so mad at myself! I had to have oen of my sweet kitties put down today... vet thinks he had a stroke a day or so ago. I'm going to try and get something accomplished tomorrow to get him off my mind a little. Keep those tutorials coming, Sweetie!

I don't comment often, Dawn, but I read your blog daily. I'm always inspired! I just bought your altered composition book tutorial. Like one of your other readers, I have a pile of the blanks just waiting for me to create something! You have one of the best blogs. Thank you for sharing what you know with the rest of us! ~Kathy

I love covering note books and journals too, but I can not for the life of me find that type of composition book you have, they are the best.
Your covered journals are simply beautiful, and I just love Gail's altered girls don't you?

Off to check out your new blog :)

Ooooo, thank you Dawn. I have the tutorial in my hot little hands now and can't wait to give it a try. Don't think I will be able to get the exact same composition book here in Australia but I am sure I will find something similar. The only other thing I am not certain about is the matte gel medium. I am such a novice and am not sure if it is just like a normal paste or if it is something special. Thanks again.
